Hi,

A dealer just around the corner in the U.K.... prices would be nice But i think there will be a difference in India prices simply because the bikes are different. I think Philfell is right one would have to get the bike ready to pass an m.o.t/sva test. But then again I know people who buy old Brit bikes India and import them into the U.K. Surely there must be a way.

Good news. We have just returned from Goa and collected the paperwork for the bike, which is now on its way to Liverpool via Tilbury. We met two Swedes at the Panjim agent who had waited 4 months for their bike, so this seems to be quite usual.

It's a Bullet 350.

A few posts here under different subject headings regarding taking the Indian motor bike test in India. Has anyone here done that test and if so what's required with special regard to paperwork, cost, waiting time, residency, (can you do on a tourist visa?) where to apply, where is the test taken, do you need bike ownership, insurance etc! Any help would be much appreciated.

To do your Indian driving licence I think you need residency (more than a six month visa), it also helps to have proof of where you stay - eg a lease agreement / document to say you own property etc... I guess you wouldn't need to own a bike as you would probably buy one after you passed.. As a British driver I can apply by giving my UK and International licence over and the other various docs (they also want a 1000 Rs/- to grease the wheels of power... (one of the reasons I haven't got mine yet - I don't like the idea of this as it just increases the corruption. :?

Don't know if i NEED TO pass the test as I already have as a UK and international licence - even if you do you just need to do a figure of 8 without putting your feet down....

Thanks for that Rob, havn't done my residency yet so guess will have to stick with the International for the time being! Really just fancied an Indian one to impress the lads back home Ha!

I might try and get an indian one (just so I don't have to apply for an International each year (although it's easy and a 1000 Rs/- (bribe) is 2 and a half years of International licences so econmically they've priced themselves out of it!!....
