Hi, yes can get coloured ones, I wear throw away monthly ones, there really cheap £4. per month, colured ones are slightly dearer!! but cheap. Got mine from Dangui Opticians, 58 Market, Mapsua.

Hi, not sure really, I usually wear my glasses, but contacts at the weekends, the ones I got are Baush & Lomb, Soflens Comfort disposable soft, I paid Rs.845.00 (about £10.) for 3 pairs, so less than £4. I bought about 10 pair so they last me a while, the solution is really cheap too (cant remember how much)

I went to an optician in Panjim (SAI Opticians, M.G. Road, Panjim - tel: 222 5920) to buy some contact lense solution (50p per bottle) & ended up buying 2 pairs of glasses, one reactor lights & one normal pair. The opticians gave me a sight test & also delivered the glasses to my hotel within 3 days & it cost me £85 in total. Absolutely Brilliant!!! If you buy more than one pair they give you a slight discount too, but you'll probably have to mention it to them. They did tell me about the contact lenses & if I remember correctly, the price for a years worth of normal disposable lenses was £42 but I think the coloured ones are just a little bit more expensive.

you guys often talk about dental care...what about opticians if we take english prescription?

Not a problem, hubby had his eyes tested & bought varifocals for less than £100. There are plenty of opticians around, we went to Eye-site next to the sea breeze resort on the beach rd in candolim. Infact hubby is in a scheme called Westfield, so claimed money back when we returned home. You can take your own prescription if preffered.

I was also thinking of getting specs on my next visit. This all sound very positive (and cheap) I don't go back to Candolim until Mar'06. Hope I can bear with the £1.99 magnifiers till then.

Most opticians have a free computer eye testing centre as well. Look out for these names if you come across them on your trip. All very good.

Hi Dangui opticians in Mapusa market are very good.

My husband and I both had glasses made last year in Goa. We used our own prescriptions and went to Agnelos in Margao. It still worked out quite expensive for India, but then, they were reactolite, vari focals, thats what happens when you get to our age!! However, within a few days my glasses were faulty. I took them back to Agnelos but they tried to blame me saying I had scratched them! There was some sort of coating on the inside of the lens and this was disintegrating. They eventually agreed to get a new pair made and to post them to me at home. Needless to say once I had received them within a few days the same thing happened. The coating has also started to come off my husbands specs, so his are useless as well. We took them to our own optician in this country and there was nothing that could be done with them, so we ended up having to order more new glasses. (not a ploy by our own optician to spend more money) Just make sure that wherever you go, it is with a tried and tested personal recommendation.

Apologies if this has been raised before, but I am off to Candolim on Sunday-well monday morning-yippee and can anybody tell me if you need to take your prescription with if you want to purchase glasses or can you get an eye test whilst there?
