I am off to the Sun City on Monday and if I want a sunbed after breakfast(approx 9am) and they all have towels on I just remove them!.Guests dont own the sunbeds and if they want one they should get out of bed and not expect to turn up at around midday and still have their towels on them!

I'm with you on this one, too, Jay. Holidays can be spoiled by things like sunbed hogging. I hate those guys that "book" them early and then go out on day trips often not getting back till 4ish and people could have been using them. Let's know how you get on with your "non-reservation" policy. I'm off to Suncity August 06 so a review would be FAB. Enjoy your hol

i agree with you jay but knowing my luck i would get a right rough lot shouting and causing a scene, i think the hotel should do more about this and i have seen some hotels remove all the towels and put them in a large pile before now, wish more would do this

U go jaytrip

I really hate those who fold their towels over the beds head rest so as not to make it obivous what they are doin

I am also off to sun city next year and I vote that all Brits/Holiday truthers
should do the decent thing and hand the towels in as either on beds before 7-30 or yesterdays lost property

alternively no questions just fling them in the pool

sorry guys - Im guilty -  . the first day we arrived at sun city (and remember this is end May!!) I went down at 8.30 to put my towels down before breakfast   . thought that was plenty early - WRONG :( everyone had gone. :omg panic - cant have the first day ruined like that theres no way the children will want to go anywhere else on the first day :( :( I managed to find a couple of dodgy looking ones with no cushions so that had to do - better than all the poor people sunbathing on the plastic resturant chairs :( :( . so im afraid I can play at that too so every morning up at 6.30am and I can tell you thats the time everyone comes down. so BE WARNED if you spend the day at the pool.

sorry would like to add in my defence we are always laying on our sunbed by 9.30am :D :D :D

To be honest I'm exactly the same as Lynwestie. My husband doesn't need much sleep so he gets up early to put towels on but I wish we didn't have to but it's play their game or not play at all. As Lynwestie says you can't have no where for the kids to sit. We always use our beds and never bag any if we are going out for the day. We always breakfast too, so the beds are used from early morning until it's apperatife time. It would only take the hotel management to put signs up and then have zero tolerance with anybody who doesn't do it. It would certainly make the holiday more relaxing.

Yeh and we wouldnt have to set our alarm clocks when we are supposed to be ON HOLIDAY nor get up earlier than we do at home
Im afraid its "if you cant beat em join em" what really makes me laugh is we get the same sunbeds in the same spot for the whole 2 weeks (unless of course we are going out for the day) and so does everyone else because its always the same people sitting around you for the whole 2 weeks. Us english are just so predictable

definatley, I went to the hotel last july and spent most of the holiday at the pool bar instead of on the sunbeds. The system is unfair but you do need to reserve the beds to get one. There must be enough sun beds for the people round the pool as all the sunbeds never had people on all of them. Sun city should request people simply to remove towels off sunbeds when they get off sunbeds. I'm returning again this august and hope the problem is sorted. I think we should all protest to the staff to get the problem solved.

there is another quiter pool by the new apartments for those that like some peace and quite. I know when friends of mine were there last year they were never up in time for a sunbed at the main pool but could always find one there :D . Seriously though I really dont know what the solution would be. im sure theres a topic running somewhere else about sunbeds a little while ago and there was a good reason why hotels are reluctant to get involved in this sunbed thing. god could you imagine the amount of people in the complaints queue and the fisty cuffs that would break out . I think they turn a blind eye to this sort of thing for a reason
and im not just talking the sun city here :( and its because most of us accept that we have to be up early if we want to be round the pool :D and the people who are really not that bothered just dont bother getting up :? unfair I know but it seems to sort itself out on its own and hey presto the hotel only has to deal with the odd complaint rather than a bucketload if everyone was breaking their rules. does that make sense :? :?

the other thing is sunbeds for the children who really dont use them much. We are a family of 5 but I dont reserve 5 beds I get three and then we have one bed for whatever child needs it. There are a lot of large families at the sun city and if everone reserves beds for all their children when they spend all day doing other things thats a lot of sunbeds going to waste . just a thought:) :)

Before I remove the towels from the sunbeds I go to reception and ask for the manager then ask him/her if I can remove the towels as I want a sunbed.I have never known them say no.Sometimes I move the sunbeds after I have removed the towels. That really confuses people when they turn up and the sunbed has gone!If I am confronted(never have been) I say come with me to the manager as they told me to remove the towels.I dont spend all day by the pool as I much prefer the beach but hubby likes the poolside.I walk for miles on holiday and probably only spend 5 mornings out of a 2 week holiday on the sunbeds. If anyone is going tomorrow.Watch out for the phanthom towel remover! You have been warned!I will certainly be posting a review on HT on my return, and how I got on with the sunbeds!

I'm off to the Sun City next August! I'll be taking my big inflatable bed, so that if there is a problem with sunbeds, at least I will have somewhere to lie down! It's always a problem everywhere you go. It would be great if hotels had the same number of sunbeds as the maximum number of guests staying at the hotel - but unfortunately they never seem to be able to do this simple maths...

I'm keeping an eye on the replies on this one too as my family and I go on 10th October this year for 2 weeks.
I prefer to relax around the pool most days as it is a "holiday" after all.
We will be doing some trips too though (Dalyan Mud Baths and others too)
