Discussions relating to Cruising holidays
All you lucky people sailing off on the Melody on 20th June will be in for a treat when you get to Ibiza as 'THE WORLD' will be there. Maybe you could get invited on board for a nose around. I wonder if they get fruit bowls in their cabins?

Here is the itinerary:

Hi all, Interested to read all Fays comments on the cruise, although I had already read her list of complaints on board. I can only say that I had an excellant time on board the Melody and had no real complaints at all it is a fun ship, ok probably not 4 or 5 star but it was clean with good food and drink and a lot of great people on board.

My full reveiw of the ship will be in the cruise reveiw section later today. Hope everything works out for everyone else .... Pat

Good Afternoon from the Balcony :D :D :D :D :D

Tut Tut,  some people do seem to have got their knickers in a twist, :bhead as I said on a previous post on board the France and Q E11 (who's a name dropper) we always had people like Fay :wlink :argue (It seems she is a lifeboat checker) :argue Who's aim in life seems to be the 'expert on any subject, and the over helpfull one'. :wlink What does it matter what one has paid, one is out to enjoy the experiance and ALLOW others to do the same. :yipee :yipee :rofl :yipee :yipee :yipee :yipee :rofl :yipee :yipee

The humour seems to have been lost since Fay came back to Earth - let us get back to doing what we have been doing for the last YEAR (is it that long) supporting each other with a degree of humour. :love :ghug :love

Lets not forget not everyone has a cruise yet, some are still waiting - so come on either attempt to be supportive or button up.

Bye the way after my experiance on the Kennent & Avon, I've finished with canel boats. :offtop i am sorry for the tiraid, but I've not looked in for a day or two, been in the B.R.I. (Local doss house that passes for a hospital) Now if Fay had been in Ward 26

lots of love and lets bury the machine gun

Welcome back Phil, so nice to see you in form in spite of your canal trip. I hope your BRI visit was successful!

Have you replaced the bulb on the balcony lamp?

Sorry, got a bit carried away. I have edited my last post and will stick to details of the cruise itself from now on. If anyone has any specific questions about the Melody , please feel free to PM me. Pat

Pat,

I think most people would like to know how much you need to tip and when do you pay the tips :shrug

Also - on a more down to earth note when are you going to do your review and upload pictures?????????

and the most important question how much is the :glynis

In response to Mike c and others who are yet to travel, There is no tipping expected on board until the last day when you are given 2 envelopes. One is handed to your waiter and the other to your cabin steward, both of whom will have been serving you all week. Ayesha , the English social host recommended a total tip of 5 euros per person per day = 35 euros to be divided as you see fit. You are also free to hold some of this back and instead give it to individual bar staff or cleaners who you feel have given an extra special service during your cruise. Of course all of this is entirely at your discretion , you may choose to tip more or less depending on how you feel you were treated, but bear in mind the staff are not well paid and work long hours and these extras are well received and very much appreciated.
With regards the price of drinks on board. A large beer is 3e20 for 40cl, wine is 3euros a glass, spirit and mixer is 4e20 and soft drinks are 2e10 for a 330ml can. Spirits can be bought in the duty free shop on board and drunk in your cabin ( they didnt seem to mind) , for as little as 3e50 you can buy a litre of vodka in the onboard duty free shop. There is a bucket of ice ( filled regularly , and topped up on request) and glasses in your cabin if you want to have a cheap drink with freinds before dinner. All drinks are paid for with your plastic ID card and bills are settled on the final morning. Hope this answers your questions... Pat

Phil it's good to have you back after your unscheduled visit, hope all is well.
Are the coven looking after you, or are you being left to fend on your own?
Is the balcony cruise up and running?
Is the Ding Dong allowed or are you on the dreaded medication?
Is you head swimming with all these questions?

We only have your best at heart so let us know dear Phil.

With regard to the number of cabin waste bins on board the Melody there is definately a lack of consistancy here. On the cruise I was on the 16/05 I only had one waste bin in my cat9 cabin, Fay cat5 also only had one, Maggie who was in a cat6 cabin had 3,yes, 3 waste bins, Derek cat 8 said he could SEE 2 waste bins in his room, though there is every chance there was only 1. This was the cause of much discussion , jealousy and resentment among the passangers on board. I only hope MSC can sort out this unfairness before future HTers cruise. May I suggest the following as a guide:

CAT 1,2,3,4,5..... 1 waste bin
CAT 6, 7, 8 .... 2 waste bins
CAT 9 and 10 ...3 waste bins
SUITES..... 1 large wheeley bin

I hope someone from MSC reads this and sees sense quickly!

Yours in total seriousness... Pat624 xxx
