And what happens if you are allocated the aisle seat at check in, but the folk sitting in the other two seats have both read this topic ?? :hmmm
Sorry but I've already bagged the aisle seat on long haul. Don't worry about bothering people it's what flying economy is for. . And if you have got the aisle seat I'm afraid I would be bothering you every hour or so to get up and stretch my legs.
Hard cheese Dee 111, but if I have the aisle seat, there is no way I would swap it for your middle seat.
when we fly we allways ask for two aisle seats cheak in always seam shocked as they said no one wanted them
Id always go for an isle seat by choice - hate feeling 'hemmed in' im 5 foot 10 so like to stretch my legs a bit,
I've always travelled with my 2 kids, so we usually get an aisle, middle and window between us. We swap around during the flight. I usually have the aisle for the first hour or so until the kids get restless, and then after toilet trips and meals we usually end up with me at the window, so they can nip to the loo easier if they need to (kids always need the loo, don't they...) and I LOVE the window for landing anyway
I fly a lot on my own and always pick my own seat, I don't leave it to pot luck. If you wanted an aisle seat, why wouldn't you request that at check in?
ok ok folks ! it was just a suggestion !
Just been reading that in a medical trial 85% of the people who developed a DVT were sitting in a non aisle seat - presumably not wanting to bother the person next to them so that they could get up and walk around for a bit.
funniest suggestion I have seen in a long time! Worth a try just to see what response you get! In actual fact when travelling on your own, particularly long haul, you may be better with a window seat. That way you can sleep without having to worry about being woken up by others wanting past you. As Sunbear said, everyone has to get up and stretch their legs so the aisle person is at the mercy of others.

I went to Majorca 3 years ago with my family, my children were quite nervous about flying as they hadn't flown since they were toddlers and neither of them wanted to sit by the window, so I sat by the window and the children in the middle and the aisle seat. We were all settled when the air stewardess came and told me that the adult had to sit in the aisle seat, I think it was a safety issue if there was an emergency.
I always ask for a seat in the cockpit but they give me some feeble excuse about a co pilot!!!

I'd just like to inform you that with certain airlines on long haul flights, passengers travelling solo are usually accomodated in aisle seats only. i only know this, as i'm going to cuba in march on my own, and contacted my airline re the possiblility of a window seat and this was their reply. i always prefer window seats so that i can rest my head/have a nap easier. i just hope that i dont use a strangers shoulder instead (not to mention the fact that i dribble in my sleep!)
i suppose the allocation of window seats may depend on the seat formation of the plane? the one i'm going on is a 2-3-2 formation.
