apologies for going off topic

I've just had a phone call from my very upset sister, she is due to go to thi shotel on the 29th and only got a letter about the building works from co-op on Friday

She's booked with First Choice and so far hasn't been able to get anywhere with a relocation even though the girl at co-op says that the building work is extensive and almost nothing advertised is ready.

My sister is almost 5 months pregnant and needed a rest as she has high blood presure so this is going to be awful for her, am I right that she can insist on a relocation to a different hotel or resort?

assuming you have read all of this topic.if you have you will see that the building work is at the back of the apartments and the blocks nearest have been closed also the the reception area and car parks are being refurbished.
we are travelling with mytravel and in there letter they said we could move too another apartment if we wanted.as we dont go till aug 24th we decided too stick with lobos and if need be just sleep and change there.
if you look at this website http://www.fuerteventure.com and enter the public forum,then look for a topic titled corralejo.you will see a similar topic on there.most of the people travelling with first choice seem to have the same problems.you might get some help from there

Have not made any posting on here for a while, but as david says have being following fuerteventura.com forum very closely as we are due fly out 10th August and it is our first time abroad. We where notified of building work on the 7th June about building work behind hotel but not to lobos bahia its self, but on contacting co-op travel was offered alternative holiday to lanzarote but only two star complex but decided to sit it out as this was the choice we made for our first holiday abroad. Anyway just contact travel agent yesterday seeing lobos is still not open, and they rang back this morning to say work is still continueing on recepition area also to gym/ sauna room behind reception but could not give me completion date they are ringing Airtours back to tomorrow at which time they will have further updates and if they get no joy they going to ringing lobos bahia direct.

All i want is a good first time experience abroad with no hassle.

hi hunter have just come from other site and noticed a few people who were due to go this week have cancelled.also read that the works on lobos gym/sauna and shop should be done by august !!!.as said before its our 1st time away too and we are sticking wih lobos for the reasons stated i.e sleep and change and will spend rest of the time out and about have asked for updated photo,s and will forward them to anyone interested.8 weeks and 15 hrs to go

Well thanks to all the stuff we read up here and on the Fuertaventura.com forum my sister has got her holiday sorted out

First off the TO tried to tell her that as they had only just found out about the building work that they didn't legally have to do a thing about it the my sis informed her that other people had had their letters over a week ago and read them the stuff from ABTA's site about them having to either refund (which she didn't want) or a replacement holiday of the same standard or higher for no extra charge. At that the girl started getting shirty and eventualy said that they would move her to another hotel for £500! Sis wasn't having any of that and stuck to her guns so the TO went to have a word with her boss and came back with a £200 take it or leave it offer so my sister told them that a large number of people she had met on the internet were thinking of going to Watchdog and her solicitor had advised her to do something that I can't remember hehe. Next thing after speaking to her boss again the TO said that my sister can have the other hotel at no cost - Result!

Just goes to show that they are trying to con extra money out of people if they can....

Another thing is that the TO claimed that the only work going on is outside the hotel and the rooms and facilities are fine!

I too have been keeping a close eye on the fuerteventura forums regarding Lobos Bahia, I just got recent photos sent from Tim this morning, they were taken on 24th June. Nothing much has changed since last photos David e-mailed me, reception still not finished. We got the letter sent to us too with no mention of refurbishment work being done to actual hotel, only about 26 new apts at back. Oh well, only 7 more weeks to go till we fly out and looking forward to it. If things get too much, theres always the beaches and the new waterpark to go to as I don't fancy sharing my sunbed with a jcb digger.

Hi have received a further update today from travel agent saying that Airtours are sending people out there on holiday today , dont know how true that is But my travel agent has asked them to get an accurate update as to what work is complete and if any work is still remaining.

If anyone has any up-to-date photos which i can view and e-mail onto my travel agent as they are as concerned about this matter as i and everyone else is, as this is not what i have paid for as a first time experience abroad

hi hunter unfortunately all my photo,s are on my works email which i will forward to you tomorrow.perhaps cjw if she comes online tonight could forward her photo,s.as we have between 6 to 8 weeks left before we go most of the main works will be completed by then !!!!.did airtours offer you the chance too change locations ?.as said before i will not let any building works spoil my first time abroad

Hi all if there any up to date photos flying around please can you forward them to me. We have 7 weeks to go and been following the messages. Hopefully everything will be finished before we fly. It worries me that First Choice dont seem to care about anything you tell them.

I would suggest that anyone going to this hotel takes with them the Safe and Sound brochure available via my signature. This will assist you in resort should you have cause for complaint.

Also, prior to departure call Ros Fernihough on 01922 621114 as she will be able to offer you free valuable advice on what you should do in resort should you have problems.

Our bottle is going as First Choice have told us we can change our holiday totaly free of charge and thats without kicking up a fuss. Does this mean its worse than they will admit or is because they have had so many complaints they are no longer bothered?
