Yes they are building apartments up there but there are only being offered for sale to Egyptians.

The huge hotel they are building by the Marriott is the new intercontinental, about 800 rooms so a massive place.

The only other "tips" I can give you boozeyboo is to take a walk down the beach to the marriot for 5pm and sit on their terrace and enjoy sundowner beers until 7pm - they have happy 2 hours!!! buy one get one free, we did this everynight  Sit, relax, watch the mountains turn from yellow to pink to lilac and blue, and watch the sea turn the most amazing colour red you ever did see. Magical :D

Its then a nice walk back up the beach for a shower and change before dinner. Not sure if youve got kids but the waterslide at the marriot is also good fun.

Gixer!!!! NOW you tell me about the happy hour!! Well, maybe just as well, after a few buy one get one free, I wouldve had to get a taxi back to the Hyatt

Yes, you are right about the apartments being only for Egyptians, I remember the rep telling us that.

Wish the Hyatt hadve had happy hours

thanks for the quick replys!

There will be 2 familys going for 2 weeks and me and by best mate are the 2 big kids really!! :?

We have solved the disco problem and bought speakers for mp3 players only £14.99 so we will find a quite spot on our own or on the terrace and play that while drinking the duty free and playing a game of cards!! :D

Food sounds like just what we will want burger or something. i imagine the food will be a little like that in hyatt in sharm as far as the snacks go! as there will be 7 of us do you think we will have a problem with getting a table for dinner?

Going to the Marriot sounds like a great idea, and good photo oppertunity! :D i take it that there is no problem in walking into the other resorts in the complex?

Is there a taxi firm that operates within the hotel?

i think that is it for the moment! thanks again for all the helpful information! it is really appreciated!

boozeyboo

Nope no real taxi service, but thats because there isnt really anywhere to go, its one great big long beach with the 3 hotels next to each other, so you can walk from one end to the other passing each hotel on the way. Its not a far walk at all from the Hyatt past the Sofitel and to the Marriot, its lovely to walk down the beach and the hotels are all very close to one another. Stand on the beach look to the right and you will see the Sofitel and the Marriot just futher down. We never had any issues using the other hotel facilities, we swam in the pool at the Marriot, had happy hour there, used their internet facility, and we also used the Hyatt for lunch, evening shows and swimming pools. My kids also went into the Hyatt kids club!
For the BEST photo oppertunity, take a walk down to the sofitel and go up into their "dome tower" you cant miss it, the view from up there is breathtaking. Also, the camels live on the beach outside the marriot and you can sit on them/have rides etc and take photos :D

it is shame about having no taxi service do you know if the other hotels have such a service! we will be going to nuweiba for a day and we may go to dahab. so we are just trying to get the best and cheapest way to do this!!
sounds like there is some great views from there which remind me to go and buy a new memory card for the camera!! sounds like we will be in 3 hotels not just the one then!!
thanks for the info!! :D

Soliman Travel have a desk at the Sofitel, and I would have imagined that Hyatt must have some limo company working from there as well.

We stayed at the Sofitel and never saw any taxi's outside. The only thing I can suggest is to ask reception if they can book you transport to Nuweiba/Dahab, they are very helpful so Im sure they could arrange something, just dont expect to be able to walk outside of main foyer and see taxi's waiting, sorry

i definatly wouldn't be expecting to find a taxi waiting for us but it is good to know that we have the option of transport if that is what we want! :D
thanks for all your help and advise. much appreciated! :D

What can I say about this place?

It is absolutely gorgeous, I have ranted for about an hour on the hotel reviews section about this hotel and then forgot that I can't paste it, so admin guys maybe if you could paste my review over to here for others to read without having to trawl through hotel reviews.

Mines the first review by Rebecca, the reallly realllly realllllllly long one!

I stayed for two weeks, and loved every minute, nice to know you found the shops jilly, was wondering if anyone else would find them aswell!
Shame about you getting ill, we had our air conditioning at 23/24 and found it was freezing, how come you put it down lower lol We didnt get ill, thank god, thought one day i was but it was a hangover from being invited to the managers cocktail reception, and all the free wine and capapes i was fed with! AND it was decent wine aswell none of that 15 quid a bottle i cant drink you egyptian wine!

Has anyone else got invited to the managers reception, we thought it was just because of gold passport but there was only a handful of people there so wondered if it was some lucky dip or something! lol

I looked at the other hotels during my stay here, and I must say, I did not, like any of them (arghhhhh i'm sorry) but it's true im a loyal Hyatt Regency fan.

Look at me I only got back last night and I've ranted for about two hours now! And it's freezing cold over here in Blighty, someone take me back!!!

(I have the post holiday blues!) :(

ohhh sorry another thing i saw in your report jilly you responded to someone about the breakfast in the room, the complimentary continental breakfast that you get for gold passport, we thought it was only one during your stay but we had 4 or 5 and when we got to the end of the holiday and checking out found that we didn't pay for any of them.

It is good value seeing as for two people the continental breakfast is £11 gbp, so we got £55 worth of breakfast for free, bargain if you ask me!

So if you have gold passport and are unsure, the continental breakfast you can have as many times as you like (obviously only one a day) during your stay, and its still complimentary.

Hi Purrfect

Gosh I feel quite guilty rambling on about the Hyatt when so many folks are worried about the Sharm Bombs etc.

How daft am I, many a morning I couldve done with BinBed! Anyway, what block were you in. No, you must have been special, never heard of the managers thing!

I loved it all and my photos came out really well, have a pic of the dhow going down the gulf as my wallpaper on pc and it looks so real that I could just step into the sea!

Sorry I missed you. I set the aircon at 25 one night and it was way tooo warm. I love to keep my window open even in freezing temps so I cant uderstand why I got ill, but I still believe that it was the aircon versus heat that caused my illness. Altougth, I did meet other guests with same symptoms as me, so, maybe it was a bug???

Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Cheers, Jilly

Jilly, is the health club side of the hotel like a proper health spa? I had a look on the website and it said that there's a steam room, sauna, whirlpool, gym and various 'treatments' available. That's my idea of heaven. Is it as luxurious as it sounds? What kinds of treatments are avilable, and how are they priced? Many thanks. :)

Hi

The spa is located to one side of the lap pool. When you walk in, the gym is to your left & reception area in front of you. You then have to go through a door to your right to get to the sauna/steamroom etc. I wouldn't say it was luxurious like the spas in this country but it was fine to me.

The only thing I can comment on is the massage & there are 2 different types - Thai & Aromatherapy. I chose to have an hour of Thai massage & it cost me (including the 25% discount for having a Hyatt Gold card) about £25.00. The treatment room was about 12x12. There was a single treatment bed & also a double mattress where I had my massage. A Thai lady gave me the massage - it was painful at the time - she kept saying that 'I was very tight!'. However, the following day, I woke up for the first time in ages without an achy back!

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Ronnie! That sounds great! :)

I stayed there a couple of years ago and though it was ace, the only thing I will say is that if you want to go snorkelling, it is quite difficult to get into the sea as you hit coral straight away, so please be careful. Saw loads of lion fish.

I meant to ask, is one of the pools a swim up bar or am i just making that up! i am sure i spoke to someone who said there was but in the brochures it doesn't have it down!

Only 3 weeks now! :D
Reply
I can't remember there being a swim up bar.
Reply
No worries it must have been me making it up then :?
thanks for the reply though
We are a little confused, do we have to email the hotel before we go with our gold passport numbers to get the room upgrade!
Thanks :D
Reply
I would, print a copy and take it with you too. That way you will have a back-up.
