Dear Jenny L

Thanks for the link, I should have written £580.00 for the two of us, so £898 on teletext for two of us, plus the tickets at the airport, CC charges, saxaphone lessons for the chairman's wife , etc etc. s still means we have a bargain!

Better still (and perhaps a bit lighter) what about one of those envelope type cotton inners that you used to have to have if you went to a Youth Hostel? :whoops showing my age now!

Have only just realised that I've missed my HT birthday by 2 days! Goodness what a lot has happened in a year since I first found this sight as a young, innocent, postman stalking/murdering psychopath

There'll be a few very nervous posties about here in a couple of weeks time too! Happy HT birthday, Juro!

I remember those all-in-one sheets from the cubs - and I'm not that old... but then thinking about it I suppose that'll be about 18 years ago

Now that I'm not taking a kilt any longer there will be a bit more room in the luggage for some bedding. I hope they don't think I'm pinching theirs at the end of the cruise though! They have maybe heard tales of what some HT members get up to

I have also seen the £399.00 cruises on Melody, but they are no good for single travellers.
All of the cheap cruises either say they dont have single cabins, or just charge a huge single supplement, but I would love to cruise again on Melody
Good luck to all who are still waiting

It is quiet isn't it?

A bit like the Marie Celeste in here
:?
I think it is probably due to the fact that the majority of confirmed cruisers have already travelled and the lack of movement with Daily Express in getting the next batch booked up. And maybe we have run out of things to talk about

Having said that everything has been said, I thought of a new question that i don't think has been asked before.

What sort of age are the majority of passengers on the MSC ships? I used to think that cruising was more an older persons holiday, but maybe not so much now?

So...there is life out there!! Why has everything slowed down to this level? Could it be the absence of Phil and his balcony cruise or just that folks are holidaying in other climes (not necessarily cruises)?. Ok, ok if this is how it is then, come'n craig, lets start worrying about our tickets!! Four weeks tomorrow and supposedly I'm setting off on my sooooo long for cruise. I have my confirmation letter and know that I am booked on the easijet flight, so all I need now is something from MSC to acknowledge that they know who I am. I'm happy to take bets as to when (and if) my tickets arrive. I booked and paid in January so I think they should at least send me all my stuff within the next two weeks. ...what d'you think craig? As far as the average age on cruise ships is concerned it seems that there is a good mix although perhaps not of the 18-25 club-style type. I am trying not think too much about travelling my own for the first time and keep telling myself that I'm sure to meet at least one person that I can chat to, although I suspect that once onboard and settled I will meet loads of really nice, friendly folk. If not, I have my books, my travel guides, my lasoo, crampons, worm-cast moulds and nautical knots encyclopedia to keep me company :hmmm

Hi all

Am about to leave for a weekend away, sailing!! Not on a cruise ship unfortunately but on a Red Funnel Ferry to the Isle of Wight!!

Off to Southampton to stay with friends and we are going over to Cowes tonight to watch the end of Cowes week fireworks, special this year for the 200th anniversary of Nelson etc.

More than one or two bottles will be consumed!!!

Helen.

Good morning all,
Yes, it is quiet right now but that probably is down to the fact that the next cruise doesn't leave until 29th August!

Juro, you may actually have someone else on your cruise, Hippel999. They posted in the incorrect thread I think. You can find him/her on this link:

http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=24340&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60

The age group is very mixed but I would say the average would be around 45.

You will all meet new people and of course your dinner companions will be fixed for the week. In my experience, you increase your chances of meeting more people by having lunch/breakfast in the restaurant where you will sit with different people each time.

There will almost certainly be other DE cruisers on board and there is every chance they may be your dinner companions. Attending the welcome meeting for the English speaking tourists on the first day aboard will also help.

Whether you make lifelong friends or plesant cruising companions, I am quite sure you will have a wonderful time!

There seemed to be a good general mix on the Armonia (June when I was there). I would agree with Magsy that 45 would be an average. I never got to any of the English-speaking meetings - do not actually remember seeing anything about those at all - we (I had my energetic daughter with me) found ourselves at an English-speaking table, large one, including three Aussies. We tended to read the info. which gets pushed under the door the evening before and if there was anything we could not find out, headed for reception where anything else got sorted. Reception was very very helpful and multi-lingual. The free maps of places they handed out proved informative and Nicky - the English-speaking info. person was on hand when leaving the ship on trips etc. Helen would have liked to have brought him back as a souvenir. I got my tickets about a week before leaving home. Rise do send them on as soon as they receive them. 8)

Thanks Magsy and Seacruiser for the info. Sure I'll be fine and I'll look up the other 3rd Sept cruiser.

If we are going to be running a book on when your tickets turn up, Juro, my money is on Tuesday the 23rd, with mine a week later.

It'll be my first time holidaying by myself too, but as Magsy and Seacruiser say I am sure we will meet plenty of new people. I suspect they may all be in couples though due to the high single supplements. Time will tell!

Good luck with contacting your other shipmate, and remember there's one on the other forum too.

Cava Kate - a trip to the Isle of Wight? I believe that's a P&O Aurora world cruise! Have a good time.

I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time, Juro - most of us who've been have.

It is very quiet here, isn't it? Questions for those who've already been:-

a) What was your highlight?
b) What's your top tip for future travellers?
c) What would you have done differently?

Also, has anyone else seen today's Daily Mail? It says 'Their best ever cruise offer' (sounds familiar, eh!)

There'll be a range of discounted offers - today it's with Cunard, just over £1,000 on the QE2 this October in the Med - I think it said a 60% reduction on brochure price.

Is Myles out there? You'll know, is that less than you'd get on the net? Is this one worth following?

Good Evening from the Balcony :D :D :D :D :D

Just to let you know I'm back, the key board seems a bit funny and is playing up it that I'm sure the keys have moved about in my absence.

Had a great time in Amsterdam, lost the coven once (only for an hour or so, it's amazing how much ground 3 women on the hunt can cover).

I had 9 X 1 hour of acipunture in the first 3 days, then an hour a day AND feel wonderful, the fingers are a bit slow and I still have alimp but I have recovered the feeling in my left leg and side. Although I am advised to get some more in a week or so (acipunture I mean).

I do thank all of the kind messages, they meant os much to me, and I did cry at times. You are a wonderful group of people from the bottom of my heart a big THANK YOU.

I must go no number 2 is on jail duty tonight and she is just having a bath.

Lots of Love

Phil

So glad you are feeling better, Phil. Was the acupuncture a treat or a punishment from the coven. All that sticking needles in you. I bet they thought it would hurt to pay you back for all the names you've called them.
