Markwebster:My question is regarding Air Atlanta and NOT Excel.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Riggsy,
I'd be shocked if Excel could predict which plane they'll be using on Friday 16th. They have several to choose from and it's hoped that at least one will be available for you that morning - but I wouldn't guarantee it.
that looks like excel to me but i could have miss read it wrong when do you go?
We flew on a 747-300 both ways. The state of the plane was better than i expected. It was a little ageing but it got up, stayed up and got us safely to our destination - what more can you ask for?
There are a lot of negative reviews about this airline but we would have no problems flying with them again. Maybe we were just a lot luckier than others that have flown with them in the past?
Well done Air Atlanta. A nice start to a perfect holiday!
EUK flights are operated by Air Atlanta Europe according to the information I have been reading Excel no longer manage these flights ..
we have just been to Rhodes with Air Atlanta - we were delayed 90 mins going out, and 1 hour coming home. - Compared to some of the delays posted here I think we got away with it! We flew on a very old 747 - nearly 500 passengers arriving at Rhodes airport was a bit of a logistical nightmare. On the way out the entertainment didnt work, but on a 4 hour flight, its not really important! We got there & back in 1 piece, with small delays so that was the main thing. If you book a package holiday you dont get much choice about your carrier. I wouldnt chose to use them again, but might end up doing so!
hi nog and roundhead glad your flights only had minor delays see folks some people have an ok journey with air atlanta and hopefully i will too
Air Atlanta's flights are operated either on a B747-200 or a B747-300 aircraft. We've flown Air Atlanta twice and the flights were good and the cabin crew were one of the best i have ever experienced. Nothing to worry about.
I work for a major travel company in the UK and 8 or 9 of my work mates have flown with air atlanta and have said never again, pesonally i will usually give an airline a chance, but ive heard to many bad stories to fly with them myself.
Last weekend the Sanford departure from Gatwick was delayed by 5 hours going out and 19 hours on the way back. Delays like that are unacceptable to me and to lots of other passengers.
Just bear in mind that many of the repairs that these aircraft seem to need in between flights are for problems that occur whilst they are in the air. They don't just go wrong when they have landed.
When Dan2004 says that his flights were good he forgets to mention the delays.
Pete
ive got to say ive never had a problem with air atlanta but then i dont use them at peak season times
I saw the 19hr delay last monday and thought **** it as my good lady was due out to Dalaman @ 1145hrs and i was thinking of the knock on effect.... luck would have it that she was only delayed just over the hour... but she didn't mind after the previous experiance with the dreaded Air Scandic.. in fact she said that it was worth the delay as the flight to Dalaman was on a [b]JUMBO JET ...just hope all goes well on the return flight home
From a reliable source Air Atlanta Europe and Excel Airway's are to merge to form a sole airline with a target completion date of 01 May 2006, operating a fleet of Boeing 737, 747, 757 & 767 aircraft. More details when i get them. No info as yet regarding Travel City
they have been part of the same group for a while now along with travel city direct the avion group

What a fantastic airline that will be.
Target date of 1st May 2006. Sounds like their departure dates they are just 'target dates' as well.

such sarcasm. Guess you're dead right though.
If they merge and create a company with one name, if the administrators merge both Air Atlanta and Excel complaint threads into the one they'll overtake all other airlines for the number of comments.
I stress comments and not complaints as both carriers have their fans;
Of course, along with Travel City Direct these two carriers are part of the Avion Group so the merger will be more cosmetic than practical. It would be nice to think they will collectively get their act together by next May in time for the busy Florida rush - although I'm off to France with Jet2.

The 747-200's that Air Atlanta have will be replaced by 747-300's by the end of this year. The 737-400's that have been leased over the summer from AAI will be replaced by either leased or bought 737-800's and the 757-200's will be tranferring to the G- register. All engineering will be changed to XLA's in house ones which are much better than EUK's. Its unclear whether the holiday arm of Air Atlanta, Travel City Direct will be merging with them or remaining a seperate company.
Hopefully XLA has learnt from their mistakes and next summer should better.
How you continue to defend a company that can't even set off the same day week after week amazes me.
By the way all the info you have put on here has been taken from other postings on another web site.
