Anyone been on an Explore Worldwide Tour?
I have been to Turkey, Egypt and India with Explore and would like opinions on other countries, Thanks, jopa.
Hi, yes I've been with them six times, and I'd say that organisation wise they are very good, i went to Australia with them last Xmas, it wa sa brilliant tour, but there were 16 people in the group, and these people became polarised into "cliques" sometimes i think it would be best to limit a group to 10 people. I've been to Thailand,Cuba, South Africa, china Russia with them as well, by and large the organisation is second to none. I'ts luck of the draw, with the type of people who are on the tour,I'd say my worst experience was in Thailand and also Aus, but thats nothing to do with the tour company, in fact on some tours I've had reunions with people from the tour! So I'd say on balance they are a good company to go with
Where did you go when in China? I went there with Travelsphere, who were excellent, but once bitten by the Explore-Bug, other holidays are holidays and not Adventures, like they are with Explore! Do you know what I mean?
Did you write a Journal? What's next on your agenda?
Yours Aye, jopa.
Yes i've found them a good company, especially if you like going on your own. I visited the Great wall and the forbidden city in china, and also we flew down to Xian and saw the Terrracota army, it wa sthe most fabulous tour. I keep a journal of all my travels, and funnily enough, i was only reading some of them the other day. My next Jaunt with Explore is the Moghul highlights to India over Xmas, and then next year hope to do the Shogun trail in Japan, next October, I'm just waiting for the prices to come out., where's your next trip?
Cheers,Explorerman
Happy Touring, Yours Aye... jopa.
I have been to Egypt before but my friends have not. I am trying to pluck up courage to do the balloon flight over valley of the Kings
We intend to do a bit of snorkelling in Red Sea...I love snorkelling
Would like to visit Japan but it's very expensive.
If you get there I would love to hear about it.
Yours Aye, jopa.
I've already booked the trip to India, it's only a ten day tour, but a lot is packed into it, your trip there sounded really good, and so does the Egyptian trip! Have you ever met up again with anybody from an Explore trip?
cheers,Explorerman
My Travelsphere Singles Tour of China also gained me three good friends, two of them whom I subsequently toured India and Nepal with, and the other friend lives only twenty miles from me and we meet up once a week and have gone on many day-trips and a Gulet Boat holiday in Turkey. We are booked for Egypt in Jan 2006.
So you see, travelling really opens "A World of Friendship to You"
Hope your "Explorers" on your India Tour are nice and hope you make many friends...just the luck of the draw, I suppose.
Happy Travels,
Yours Aye, jopa
sounds like you keep in touch, even with todays technology, things wither on the vine and you lose touch, as has happened to me, anyway just looked at prices and dates for next years Shogun trail, and it definetley looks on!
Cheers, Explorerman
Hi Exploreman...that looks a brilliant tour of Japan. If I go there I would like the land-only option and spend some time in Tokyo before tour starts. I don't think it fair that tour companies class your travel days as Day 1 of tour...you don't really see anything of the Countries until Day 3! It's good that Explore now do a single room option...you could land up with unsavoury roomate on tour otherwise. I have always been fortunate in that respect...mind you the tour leader would swap you rooms if needed.
Yes thet sounds like a good idea, to spend more time in Tokyo, i agree it isn't fair that it is classed as part of the hols, actually most times i've been lucky with room mates, apart from one guy who snored terribly!
In Australia i paid extra for a single romm all the time.
Yes i could send photos too.
Cheers,Explorerman
Have enjoyed reading about all your travels - lucky you two !! After reading your stories ordered the explore family adventures brochure for next years hols after checking out their website. Now trying to decide which adventure to go on !! Thanks for the info guys - looks great.
Hi Explorerman...not long to Xmas now and your Tour of India. It will be wonderful, I'm sure. Just in today...my new Explore Book...night-time reading for me for a while. If I win the Pools, I would just follow on one Explore Tour after the other, come home every other month to see the family of course...dream on jopa
I only wish I had known of these tours when I was much younger...I would be an old Explore Leader by now!
I can't advise re...family tours. I am the only adventure seeker in our family, but I'm sure they will be well organised.
If your children are studying Egypt at school, it would be a wonderful opportunity for them to go there.
I wish you all the best for the years ahead...exploring worldwide
Yours Aye, jopa
yes my new brochure has just arrived, and there are some great new tours, if i had the time and money i would do them one after another also!
Cheers, Explorerman
Haven't had a lot of time to "get into it" yet...Oh to be rich and follow one adventure after another...dream on Jopa!
yes I'm a bit disappointed they don't do Brazil for Xmas and new year!
Otherwise, the brochure seems bigger and better this year!
I have been looking into hostels in Japan and the prices are not too bad. The accommodation in hotels seems the dearest part of a tour in that country.I would miss the tour group setting though. If I did go as an independant traveller, I would probably follow Explore's Trail!!!
Have always had the notion to go on the Silk Route too, then there's Machu Pichu...so much of the world to see...so little time.
Yours Aye, jopa.
No, this Xmas is India, originally i had booked to do Machu Pichu, but then
changed it when the idea of Japan came along. I was thinking of Brazil for future reference, as Explore cancelled one trip I'd planned, which was a mini break to Rio, due to a lack of bookings! I'll get to South America yet!
Cheers, Explorerman
I watched a documentary on tv a few years ago when two young girls went from the North of South America to the South on a very limited budget,it was very good. Fascinating country. If you go to Machu Pichu, will you do the trek or take the train?
Yours Aye, jopa
