The daytime activities are fab, the usual water polo beach volley ball...etc.
the evening entertainment it depends what you like?..... the animation team work really hard, but the sound system is appaling.. Not sure what it would be like in May as we went in July.
It is a lovely hotel...would reccomend it families with children over the age of 4...the reason for this is because it is so big...the kids could get lost.
If it is just adults going I wouldn't reccomend the hotel as it is really geared for families.
You cand find my review of this hotel under (lisa july) also piccies in the skanes section of the Tunisia photo gallery.
Happy holiday hunting.
Anything else just ask away
Checking prices for this hotel I have the option of 2 twins or 2 twins connecting for a tiny supplement. To get the connecting rooms I seem to have to forgo the balcony/terrace. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? Are these rooms in a particular block as I know this hotel is very large, are they inferior to the normal rooms (apart from no balc)?
Hi, Doepsmc, W e went to the Sahara Beach in 2002 and the connecting rooms was free then , but now all the tour operators are charging a supplement, the rooms are on all floors their are around a dozen interconnecting rooms on each floor, all it is is a door which is in between each room, you have then same facilities as 2 normal twin rooms 2 of everything, have you had a price of panarama, as last year they where the only tour operator who was not making you pay a supplemant for these rooms.Good Luck
thanks for quick reply. I have price from eclipse 1262 (connecting) and 1234 so the difference is only 28 pounds. (pound sign on the blink ) Haven't decided on this yet just researching. Big dilemma with me pulling towards tunisia and partner to Sharm. cost v. guaranteed weather mainly, plus a few other considerations. Must admit Sahara beach does look like its good for families, but my instincts are sending me towards PeK or Sousse, one of the reasons I looked at this one was it seemed equi-distant between the two.
sahara is great for families, but there is nothing really that you can walk to. just the hotel and the beach
Kind of guessed as much, I thought it might be practical to get a taxi to either PeK or Sousse, but that will make the costs mount up, so might be as well to be based at one or other of those reourts if I do go. Always seem to be able to get a good price for this hotel. Probably because of the amount of rooms they have to fill.
Hi Doepsmc, I f you want t great family hotel this is the hotel for you, the entertainment team ae fantastic and they put on some geat shows at night, the hotel is very clean, the only down side is the food very basic, but the rest of the hotel is great, when are you thinking about going, we went in the July and it was between 40-50 everyday the first week was the hotest 45-50, the AI includes a snackbar with hotdogs, burgers and pizza, you can also get bottles of water, coke, fanta, larger and all spirits, you can even get cappacino coffee and hot chocolate, which was my daughters favorite, the hotel is very strict as well with dresscode in the restarants, the problem with Tunisia is that you either hate it or love it , we loved it, because the staff wait on you hand and foot and cannot do enough for you and a small tip goes along way, also they have a manager who shows you to your table in the restarant and that is you table for you duration, then he gives you a waiter who looks after you for your duration he will fetch you drinks and pour them every night in the restarant, just give him a tip at the end of your holiday, on the other hand you said you was thinking about going to Sharm, they say the food is better at Sharm , but i think is only attracks diving lovers and is also to hot for young children, have you throught about Turkey as the food theri is better than Tunisia, anyway good luck with whatever you choose
We are off to Turkey in the summer. This is hopefully for a week sometime in April. One of the concerns about Tunisia in April is the weather. I have read that sometimes you can be unlucky and we do like to see a bit of sunshine. If I don't go this time I might keep the sahara beach "up my sleeve" for a future summer. Sounds like I could do alot worse.
I know I'm wandering here, but that sentance just about sums up my dilemma
hi we have just returned from a lovely holiday in Olu Deniz (turkey) and have now booked up for the Sahara Beach Hotel in May 2006. I don't expect tunisia to be anything like turkey but just wondered if anybody could advise if the men that pester you at markets are worse, not as bad or similar as they are in turkey. I have read loads of good reviews for this hotel and hope my 5 year old with enjoy himself although he is a picky eater and i'm a little concerned. He will eat pasta, rice, chips, and the usual kids stuff. We are going last week in May, hope the weather will be nice but not too hot. Sorry one more question, does the hotel accept credit/debit cards or do you just exchange cash/travellers cheques.
sorry i forgot to ask this question in my previous post. Does anybody know if the all inclusive service will continue on your last day if you have booked a late room checkout. We have not used this service before so are not familiar with the services that you receive other than being able to use your room until 6pm.
thanks for the advice re the markets in tunisia, do you recommend i pack a lot of clothes as when i went to turkey everybody told me not to pack loads of clothes and to buy them all over there?
I'm sure you can still use your AI passes on your last day, check when you check in.
Your little one will love this hotel, one word of warning this hotel is huge make sure he has a specific place to go to if he does happen to get lost so you can go there to look for them.
About the money we took cash, and hired a safe and changed what we needed it is the same rate wherever you change the money, and you can't take dinar out of the country so bear that in mind.
Any other questions fire away
They have childrens menu,s there too so little ones wont go hungry I would go again there, but with hubby in tow as, didnt enjoy markets too much as only my daughter and I.
i wont go on because i,ve put a report in the review section, in short the hotel is shabby, the food diabolical, the staff only want your money and the entertainment is abysmal.
This particular part of tunisia is like a third world country, and if you have already booked i,m sorry for you, if you havnt then dont go
we went to the Sahara beach a couple of years ago we had a great time we thought the hotel was ok .But the following year a lad i work with went ,and said he didn't like the place that it was a tip basically he said the same as black knight.
On another note Skanes is not a resort doesn't pretend to be anything but a long stretch of beautiful beach..and hotels.
I love this hotel! was there in october 2004, june 2005 and we are going back again july 16th this year! . Have never seen a rat there, or flies around the food!!! The hotel is kept spotlessly clean, and all the staff are very friendly I tipped our waiter (who since has become our friend) 5 pound at the beginning of the week and then gave him 10 pound when we were leaving, i also tipped the sunbed men 50p a day for which they were very grateful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone
posted in wrong place sorry
