I've been 6 times in various months (May, June, Sept, Nov (2) and Dec and the best weather was in May and June. The temps were around 35 degrees and the only rain we had was at night. However as you're in the tropics you never can tell. One year in November we never saw a cloud for the whole holiday, yet alone any rain, but the next year at exactly the same tme we had 3 days of persistant, constant rain.

I would say avoid the months of Aug, Sept and Oct as these are the months with the highest risk of hurricanes - especially in the east of the island.

To be honest i think it's a bit of a lottery - you could have fantastic weather or a couple of days of rain at any time of the year. I still stick with May (we have been to 5 different caribbean islands in May) and we've always had fab weather. Jan to march does have good weather - but I'm not sure it's any better than at any other time of the year. Whenever we have been , temps have rarely changed.

Surely though you are chooing your honeymoon after setting a wedding date rather than the other way round.

thinking of going either to dom rep or cuba in jan 07 for hubbys 40th anyone any idea of the weather at this time of year

Much better in the Dom Rep than Cuba at this time of year. Day temps in Cuba are 24-27 degrees and much cooler in the evening - you will generally need a jumper. The Dom Rep is much warmer (31-34 degrees) and you'll never need a cardi.

I have booked for the Dominican for January 07. I have to agree with others in this thread it does really depend on the day about what the weather will be like
Nice to know that DR is warmer than Cuba though in this month.
Good luck

June to November is hurrican season!\
Although I went to Bayahibe (la romana) in October 2004 and it was boiling hot with not one drop of rain!
Although December - May it is highly unlikely that a hurricane will occur, so best to book for then!

Dec/Jan - April are the driest....not to say you'd been rained in during the other months. (Have been to the Caribbean twice June and had great weather.

We have been in May/June 4 times and had some rain for short spells, sometimes heavy but never enough to spoil a day let alone a holiday.

Hi all :D

We've had to put our holiday to Mexico off from the beginning of May until the beginning of June.

Im wondering will there be a big change in the weather? I am aware that the hurricane season starts in June etc

I have been to Mexico in June and only had 1 day off rain! it was so hot and the humidity is very high! You have to expect some rain but it only lasts a while and seens to come down all in one go! we returned to Mexico last July and had a couple of days rain , however nothing to drastic most people dont even bother to get out of the pool! enjoy !

Any givers on my previous post? Jamaica...August ?
