I love Race Rock & The Cheesecake Factory in Orlando - Cheesecake factory was more expensive but went without the kids - amazing food & desserts - then got a carry out to take back to them.

Roll next summer when we go back!!

Anyone help with the best eating places around Kissimee that cater for adults and children. Are the rummours right that the portions are huge?

Black angus - lovely steak, but a little pricier
Butcher block (near wet n wild / ramada lakefront) - lovely flavourful steak..
CICIs - all you can eat pizza for 4 dollars (yes- that's all you can eat pizza for 4 dollars), this includes all you can eat desserts too!

Burgers with unlimited refill fries - $6.99, and on Wednesday they are special for $3.99
Huge Salads, ribs, it worked out really good value for money.

I thought I'd put together a brief list of restaurants in the US that are chains. From some people's posts, it seems that they are led to believe that, for example, the Cheesecake Factory only exists in Orlando, when in reality it exists across the US. So, here is my list, for what it's worth:

Sit-down restaurants:

Applebee's (American, Steak, Variety)
Benihana (Japanese)
Black Angus (Steak)
Cheesecake Factory (Dessert, American)
Chevy's (Mexican)
Chili's (Mexican)
Denny's (American)
Hard Rock Cafe (American)
Johnny Rocket's (Burgers)
Marge's Diner (American)
Marie Callender's (American)
Olive Garden (Italian)
Outback (Steak, Australian themed)
Red Lobster (Seafood)
Sizzler (Salad Bar, Steak, Seafood)
Tomy's (Burgers)
Yardhouse (American, Ale) - I believe California only

Fast food:

Burger King (Burgers)
Carl's Jr. (Burgers)
Dairy Queen (Ice Cream, Burgers)
In-n-Out (Burgers) - Western US only but expanding
Jack In The Box (Burgers)
L&L (Hawaiian)
McDonald's (Burgers)
Panda Express (Chinese)
Papa John's (Pizza)
Pizza Hut (Pizza)
Quizno's (Sandwiches)
Subway (Sandwiches)
Taco Bell (Tex-Mex)
Togo's (Sandwiches)
Weinerschnitzel (Hot Dogs, Chilli)
Wendy's (Burgers)

That's just a couple of short lists to get started on. If anybody else wants to add to them, go right ahead.

Anyone going to Florida has to try out the Ponarosa. It's an all-you-can-eat place but it is such good value for money. I think there's only 2 in the Orlando area and at peak season in the evenings, there is a queue outside to get in sometimes! But it is well worth the wait if you have to.

Also try one of the IHOPS (International House Of Pancakes). Some people think it is a bit expensive for a snack but the servings are huge so don't worry about being still hungry after it.

The biggest McDonalds in the world is also based in Orlando, Mickey D's. It is extremely noisey and busy day or night so steer clear if you don't want to go home with a headache!

Most of all-enjoy your trip to Florida if your going this summer. I'm VERY jealous!!! :rage

Ponderosa website HERE, IHOP website HERE

IHOP is not intended to be a snack place. That might explain why you found the portions to be large. It serves meals...

Th IHOP was reccommended to us as a snack bar by the american receptionist in the hotel we were stayin in actually.

That doesn't change the fact that it isn't. :) Still, great pancakes.

If you are looking for somewhere a little different try Cracker Barrel. They don't seem to be in the major tourist area of Orlando (was recommended it by an american friend), but well worth the trip. Best way of describing the place is to look at the website.

Staying at Terra Verde and wanted to know the best place for breakfast.
When we went the last time (2001) we ate at Golden Coral, is there one near us, are they still as good as they used to be.
For breakfast we are looking for buffet food before hitting the parks.

Terra Verde is the newish bit at the entrance to Lindfields off the far West end of the 192 before the library and Publix. There's a Golden Coral about 1 to 2 miles East on the 192 (same side as Terra Verde).

We stopped going out for breakfast as although it seems cheap at $2.99-$3.99 by the time you add drinks etc, for 4 it's around $20-$25 a day, if your staying in a condo at Terra Verde then stocking up on groceries at Walmart/Publix is a much cheaper option, we have waffles, hash browns, scrambled eggs, toast, cereal and juice/tea for under $7.

jeff-I think Terra Verde is the new resort off Poinciana Blvd which is the other side of Disney. you can get in on the Osceola Pkwy.

Not too sure what is available in that location-as I am on Lindfields about 10 miles away from TV-but there will be all the usual restaurants on the 192.

I think you might be right about the condos at the entrance to Lindfields -but I thought they were cheap housing for the workers and not vacation villas. Certainly when I googled for it-the Poinciana Blvd was the one that came up.

I think the OP needs to go back and find out which ones she is booked into.
