Slight problem we encountered in Oct when we brought someones prescription, the exact distance between the pupils was'nt on the prescription and we had to phone the u.k. to have this done, and it has to br exact for having the lens in the proper position, apart for that there was no problems. Alan

Hi Ya

When we were ther in December, I enquired about daily contact lenses for my daughter & was told the price was the same as England. I ended up buying the monthly ones + some blue ones for my daughter & her friend. My daughters were prescription but her friends were normal but coloured.

Other half lost his glasses in the sea, so bought some more (lost ones bought in March from Goa) & I had my lenses changed. No problem with anything we bought, got them from Eye-site next to Sea Breeze in Candolim.

Hello, just back.A word of warning I got a pair of varifocals, reactolite, plastic lenses etc from Eye Site in Candolim beach road and they are falling to bits already.I would advise everone to steer well clear, waste of £180.Caveat emptor!

In defence of eye site in Candolim two friends have had varilux lens and frames and were completley satisfied, myself, I've had two pairs with varilux lens from them, one pair cost 51 pounds and the other 71 pounds, and after buying glasses in Goa for the last 15 years, am completely satisfied both with the quality of their eye test and with the product and will be returning to them in the future Alan

We usually buy ours from Dangui in Mapusa by the Market, any taxi will take you. He is very cheap, and has a lot of frames. Took my father in laws prescription and he is over the moon with his glasses. Took a pair back which we bought last year which were broken (sat on!!) and he repaired them for only 500rs. He also does all the different contact lenses a good price (cant remember how much though). Allow enough time though - usually takes about a week.

When me and my husband were there in December we went to Hi-Tec in Candolim. We both had an eye test and then bought 2 pairs of reactolite lenses in designer frames. Great service and only took 2-3 days to make up.

Hi - yes you can get them in Goa, I usually get mine from Dangui Opticians, small shop in the market at Mapusa , any taxi driver will take you, they do dailies and monthlys. You can get some great glasses too he has loads of frames to choose from. I have the phone no. if you want to check, sorry no email address.

Goa is great for glasses and teeth  The best places in town are
1. High Tech Lenses ... at the 1st circle in Calangute
2. Romano Opticians .. Opposite the old petrol station in Calangute and Opposite HDFC bank/Nizmar hotel in Calangute .
3. Zeiss Lenses in Porvorim would have to be the best in quality, but a bit pricy.

Any of you regular visitors to Goa have any advice on buying new "specs" whilst in Goa. We will be staying near Baga (Arpora) and have heard that you can buy glasses  quite cheaply? - do you need to take your prescription? and would you need to go into Panjim, or are there opticians in Baga or Calangute. :D thanks!!

Thansk Fiona for the info but there is nothing about opticians in the South. Does anyone know of a good place to take your prescriptions to get glasses.
We will be going in a few weeks and staying in Cavelossim. Any advice would be much appreciated.
