Hello all, I've just found this thread and have been reading it for hours now! Thought it was time to ask my own question now!

A lot of people on here have been or are getting married in or around Ayia Napa (it seems). I was wondering what the people who have been there really thought of the place? Not the wedding venue, but Ayia Napa itself.
Our initial plan was to go somewhere truly tropical and have our wedding on a private island or something like that, but my parents wouldn't be able to make that for medical reasons, however they are able to travel to Cyprus. I have seen some lovely looking locations, like at Grecian Park, Protaras, overlooking the sea (outdoor ceremony is top of the list of requirements), but just those 2 words - Ayia Napa - really put me off. I'm in no way a clubber and don't want to be surrounded by drunk brits abroad, off their heads on whatever it is they take! Is that a wild generalisation and is Ayia Napa not really like that? Or if it is, is Protaras and the Grecian Park hotel far enough away to feel like an idyllic place?
We also don't want to have our reception in the hotel, just some champagne and weddding cake, then off to a nice restaurant/taverna place for the evening... This is the part where I'm concerned that we might be over-run by clubbers etc....

Am I making any sense?!

Thanks
Ruth

Hi all, My wife and I were married in Cyprus in 2001 at Paralimni Town Hall.
Since then we have suffered a terrible flood at our home and unfortunatley lost our wedding certificate and all copies.

I am wondering if anyone here could help me or point me in the right direction of gaining a new copy?

Thanks

hi, i am new to this site, i am getting married in may this year at grecian sands hotel really excited, has anyone stayed or had awedding at the hotel, also can anyone recommend any resturants that would be ideal for reception for 30 peope, thanks, sharon

Ive statyed at the sands loads of times.
Its now primarily a wedding hotel so I tend to steer clear of it when we are over but is perfect for weddings.
I have posted above re restaurants for receptions but they are on the nissi beach side of napa
Limelight is nearer to the sands if you wish to consider that

Thanks to Coolie Woolie who replied to my email. My only concerns with Medweds is the price they are charging for their photography. The price is 195 for 24 photos and then another 70 for negatives - and this is in cyprus Pounds! This seems alot compared to other local cyprus photographers - with as quotes as low as 118 cyp elsewhere. any reassurance on this from anyone and the quality of photographer that medwed supplied - medweds would not give out details of the photographer and am beginning to worry on this now (although I have still to book the medweds photographer yet).

Hi Saladingwall,

I can reassure you about Medweds photography.
The photographer they supplied was called Jorge and he's from Limassol. He was brilliant, absolutely fantastic, friendly and totally professional.
Our wedding photos were outstanding, we all looked like film stars!! For each photo Jorge instructed each person how to pose and the results were amazing.
Everyone has said the photos are breathtaking. The album that the photos come in was beautiful.
We also had a DVD and the videographer did an excellent job too. It's really lovely and is a permanent reminder of a wonderful day. I'd definately recommend having a DVD. I don't know what other photographers charge but we were over the moon with our photos and DVD. They were worth every penny...

Coolie Thank you so much for your help and advice. Can I ask one favour - I know the photographers are Jorge from Limassol that Medweds use, but I was looking to see if the photographer had a website - as I am looking to view some of his photos - do you know the full name of the photographer, so I can do a search on the web. Medweds site only have photos taken by them - so it is impossible to tell the quality.

For Sean Mcr

Obtaining a duplicate marriage certificate is easy and will only cost 8 Cyp per certificate.

If you contact Paralimni Town hall on 00357 23 819303 Irene who works in the wedding departments or email paralimn@logosnet.cy.net

I would sugest calling them direct

Hope this helps
