well hi all now not going to kos but iv managed to book fuerterventura at a discounted price we paid £1400 for kabc for 2 weeks and have got the new one for just under £1200 they had to do a big discount as our original holiday was put up in price and i was told when i changed my holiday they had to still give us the discounts they had applied to the third invoice. so the new holiday would have been nearly £1800 so at least we got a £208 refund . but i was so looking forward to abc
i just hope its up and running for those of you going later in may and june i will look in time to time to see how things go

Linda sorry your holiday was cancelled, where abouts in fueturventura are you going? ive been to caleta du fuste (although think they renamed it a few years back) and it was fab id definately go back its a great resort, the airport there is also really nice and modern. Have a lovely time Michelle x

My Travel Agent just phoned she couldn't get through to F/C for 2 hrs yesterday but got through this morn. They confirmed to her that all departures before 24th have been cancelled. (tell us something new!!)

However the 24th is still ok as they know it at the moment . No Guarentees given though.

Strongly advised not to change or cancel .

which is all ok 2 say that but if it is opened on time 24th then all of us booked for 24th will be the first there and previously on this forum it repeats several times about F/C having reputation for having teething problems in the first few wks/mnths??!! I'm sure you will all agree that we didn't spend our hard earned money to experience TEETHING problems on our well overdue & deserved holidays .

and another thing :::::::

Just been looking on net to find alternative holiday (not just with F/c ) just incase and for what we need at this short notice is impossable!!! 4 kids not old enough to be in a room on their own and no interconnecting rooms left!!

So Won't be able to be relocated with f/c either!

about 2 weeks ago approx kos ab was fully booked for the 24th as friends tried to book ( via all ways net agent etc) with nothing on that date!! now there seems to be vacancies ??? is it just because people don't want to risk it??

Have you tried Titanic Beach & Resort in Lara, Turkey? Thats where we have been rebooked, including inter-connecting rooms. It was the only place we could find, but you are different dates to me. May be worth a try just in case you need it? (But hopefully not - be positive!)

Wow you lucky thing Titanic Beach & Resort in Lara, Turkey looks Lush, I'd take a bit of extra spends and make the most of all those beauty treatments on site, leave the other half to watch the kids !!.

Well just to let you know my travel agent finally foned me back apparently it took and hour and a half to get through. Everything is set for the 24th May (apparently!) so we should be ok. Nothing about power cuts or anything. She said it was just they weren't going to have all the stafff completly trained for first arrivals so wanted to make sure that their wouldn't be any complaints by putting it back a few weeks????

SO go figure?!

I said that I will be phoning again a few weeks to make sure because changing at this late stage will mean we probably won't get nearlly as good a holiday - she said they will let us know in plenty of time if this would change!

Well after a bit of pondering we have decided to cut our holiday down to the week - the second week which would be 7th June. After having a think about it we thought that if there is going to be problems ( which of course we're hoping there won't be) I don't want to be miserable for two weeks with three small children.

So we phoned the travel agent back today and she ammended it for us and it was £702 cheaper! Which I can't understand as I priced it for the week online and they were quoting for a standard room, our booking is for a room with kingsize bed and bath, a baby pack and a late check out room plus admin costs????

I got her to triple check it and it was right so I think maybe they are having more problems than they are letting on that is why I got it soo much cheaper?????

Well im absolutely gutted as i said yesterday that our holiday has been cancellled but if im honest and alot of us were the same it was half expected. Weve all been on this forum for months now saying we hope its going to be ready, we have now taken First Choice offer of the Pegasos Palace in Turkey not my idea but my sister, Turkey is a place I have never wanted to go not in a million years would I have considered it. Anyway plus side is for 6 adults and 8 kids we paid £8,545.89 but the new holiday is over £3000 cheaper so weve had a good spend on clothes today.

The only worry is weve had to cancel our exsisting minibus to the airport as this holiday is a week earlier we go on 4 May instead of 10th and come back on 19th, couldnt find a minibus firm anywhere that could accommodate then when we did it is costing us £300, then add to that the fact we have to pay £10 each that £60 for us for a visa to get into Turkey were skint before we go. Thank you very much First Choice you have make our holiday again.

To all you travelling after the 24th May good luck from the bottom of my heart, I hope you dont have to go through what we have had to go through for the last two days I am sick of the sights of the insides of our holiday shop but I must say thanks to a wonderful team especially Mat at our local Thomson shop in Wombwell they have worked so hard for us this last two days.

Not been on for a while cant believe whats gone on!!!
Goin on 5 july kept it a bit later this year as went to turkey pp last year in june most problems sorted out but as hotel holds 3 times as many guests the queues are 3 times as long for booze etc.
Said would never do new build again but here we are 12 months later worrying along with you guys what is going to happen.
Picked this hotel as smaller hoping it would definately be ready i can hope!!!
Feel really bad for you who thought you were on the home straight paid up and just waiting to pack first choice need a kick up the backside ruining peoples hard earned holidays like this.I'd hate to have to tell my lot sorry kids not going now!!

was thinking now of cancelling the holiday. Has anyone tried asking if we are still entitled to a full refund due the downgrade from **** to ***plus. It says in the back of the brochure that this is a major change but does not specify any time limit. would be interested to know whether anyone has tried throwing this question at first choice and if so, what the response was.

When I mentioned to FC about the downgrade their reply was that it wasnt actually a downgrade, they have assessed other hotels in the area and feel that the facilities of the KABC and those of surrounding hotels warrant it to be a 3* plus hotel. If you cancel your holiday now you will NOT get a refund of any money paid so far, you will lose your deposit, I was told this on friday.

If you look at the back of the brochure it gives definitions of *** and **** nowhere can i see the definition of so say ***plus. I personally think they might have discovered a crafty way of wriggling out of this 'major change' clause. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck! I'm sure we've got them by the short and curlies, have'nt we? If it's not a 'major change' then why send us all letters to notify us?

I think that there is alot of truth in what you say.

The 3 star + arrangement started when there were problems with the Corfu Aqua Beach Club, at the time many suspected that it was done to prevent people getting automatic free upgrades to the nearest 4 star All-Inc. namely Blue Bay Escape - But of course we do not have proof of this.

You would be best advised to get together with other people in the same situation, large numbers of people would tend to be listened to more readily than one or two.

Of course sharing info on websites such as this helps prevent tour operators from telling you one story and telling other people another - not that they would of dream of doing this of course

im gonna stick it out we go on 24th i hope its ready if not fc are gonna pay big time

We went to the caleta dorada last september the weather was great, the pool was fantastic the food was all we critisised they are not much for covering it we ate out every night after my daughter put a serving spoon in the sweetcorn & many insects flew out.
The entertainment was fantastic too.
I would definately go back to caleta dorada but only on SC basis ( i dont want to put you off)
The kids will love it

Linda, we stayed near to the Caleta Dorada (castillo beach bungalows) dont forget a visit to Chipmunk Mountain which is a short distance to walk, the kids will love it. Have you checked out the apartment reviews on here? Id recommend self catering in Caleta as their is tons of restaurants, the beach is lovely a horse shoe shaped bay, with really safe waters for kids, One bad thing with fueteventura is the wind, its really strong, we made a trip to the sand dunes and had to make sure the car was parked on tarmac and not the sand as when you return your likely to find your car buried! we hired a car out as there is only one main road that rounds across the island and it was really easy to drive out there. Like ive said the airport is really modern and if you have a day flight you can even sit out on the sun terraces. Bon Vouage xxxx
