We first went to Benidorm five years ago and happened to come across Don Panchos. Did,nt know who Phil was,but what an act. He was brilliant. Went back another three years and made a point of seeing Phil,s act again. On our last visit in June of 2005 Phil had my little lad up on stage and i got a face full of foam. Lad loved it,missus loved it and i thought the night was great. Sorry to see Phil has passed away. He was a great guy. Mick, Cazz and Tommy.

RIP Phil you will be missed.

I remember my late husband Howard & myself giving Phil a lift home from Villajoyosa Hospital because he had missed his bus when he had a broken leg.

My thoughts are with Faye, Luca & baby clown at this time.

Please everyone give Captain Britain a chance, he is trying his best under very difficult circumstances. It can't be easy taking over from someone as legendary as Phil.[/img]

people are definately giving him a chance... they are only saying nobody could ever be 'as good' as phil was, he did his job for a long long time in pancho's and new alot of people. it will just take time for people to get use to phil not being there and another face taking over his role...

r.i.p again phil

Well we'll be giving him a chance and our support. :gluck .

A lot of people will be going out for the first time probably, and won't have known Phil like us oldtimers, so I'm sure he'll get alot more support that way. It must have been the toughest night of his life going out on stage for the first time, after Phil (rip) I for one couldn't have done it, so here's to you Captain Britain, see you in 2 weeks :wave

Our entire family went to see phil in 2004 and what a guy. He creamed my dad and had him putting his hands up in the air. My niece cajun entered his fetch me competition and i had to give her may bra their and then in front of the entire panchos. squeeling with delight she won thanks to my wonderbra which i never took off that fast before. He made the most boring of people turn into nutters just for a free pint. I kept my free pint token which i am now glad as it has his picyure on it. Deepest sympathy to his family he was a fantastic person and will be sadlly missed. We are coming to benidorm next june and i am so sad he wont be thier but will say the new coco will have our support.

Just back and went to panchos and faye was doing the braiding with a huge bump and looked to be fine.

As for captain yes he entertained the kids but had too much of phil in his act and i wanted to shout no when he suggested custard pieing someone.

Don't start me off again. There is no Phil in his act, no balloon modelling, no bucket exchange, no face paint, no clown suit. Go & watch Louie the Clown, or Buster the Clown, they all custard pie people.[/img]

Don`t start me off either.
I'm sorry, but I think people have a right to express how they feel on this forum, without you barging in defending Captain Britain.

If people have watched Phil for years and they associate Pancho`s + Phil + custard pies, then it is inevitable all three will stir connection and comparison in their brains, whether they intentionally or sub-consciously do it.
You make no contribution to this forum, other than the 10 posts you have made in this topic.
I went out of my way to seek you out in Benidorm and apologise for my comments and the misunderstanding between us . about speaking ill of the dead.
Living in Benidorm as you do, your knowledge of the place would have been appreciated and more beneficial to the members of this forum .
I also, think that you may have an hidden agenda that makes you sit in Panchos every night watching Captain Britain, which makes you watch this topic and barge in defending.

The custard pies and also the throwing of the 'sweeties' are the same and said in the same manner and the same sweeties, he doesnt have to dress as phil to remind us of him most folk remember the 'who wants some sweeties' and the custard pies.

I didnt slag off captain britain as my kids enjoyed the show i just made reference to the similarities.

Yes Sanji, having made my own observations I tend to agree with you.

Hi Burnette ... our members are only expressing their personal and unbiased opinions of this particular act, which as holidaymakers they are quite entitled to do in this forum. However, considering your closer relationship with Captain Britain and Panchos, where I believe you are something of a permanent fixture each night, it is perhaps fair to say that your views may be slightly more biased.

It's not unusual for holidaymakers and local residents to share different tastes or opinions about a particular pub or club act, so it should perhaps be no surprise that views here may differ between those who are looking for holiday entertainment for their kids during a one or two week visit to Benidorm, compared with someone such as yourself who may view the same act night after night throughout the season. It's also inevitable that comparisons will be drawn with previous long running and highly popular acts at the same venue.

It is important however that holidaymakers are allowed to express their own personal and unbiased opinions of any act or venue, or make comparisons with others, without being contradicted or criticised for doing so by someone who is much more closely connected.

As your opinions about Captain Britain are now well documented, I think it's probably best left at that now so that other visitors can form their own opinions and post about them in this forum if they wish.

So rather than any more "Don't start me off again" comments, how about "Let's end it there" instead ?

Many thanks
David
