Rooms are adequate.
Walls are thin, but like everywhere else you go...
It all depends on who you get next to you or above you.
I personally, had no problems apart from one day when the next door put the TV on..... which you could have heard in the Flamingo Oasis across the road.
Things will be different I suppose next week with the average age of the clients being different.

Most people were in bed by 12-30 am....I can`t see that happing next week   ...so just go with the flow, or take some ear plugs to sleep in, like I normally do.

you can see the rooms from the video I made ....

Hola from Benidorm to everyone, we are staying in the Regente and are very pleased so far with all aspects of our hols. The hotel is very clean and friendly. The food matches any hotel that I have previously stayed in. We even had king prawns and smoked salmon the other night. Yes the walls are a bit thin and we have a miserable old man next door so I keep telling the kids to talk quietly. There are only 2 lifts here so it is best to request a low floor, we are on the 4th so it's not too bad, we walk up and down most of the time. The entertainment is not as bad as people make out, after a few glasses of wine you don't really care anyway.
The weather has been great, got a bit burnt yesterday though on the beach so been a little more careful today.

Bye for Now

Sue :)

Hola desde Gran Bretana
We`ve got rain, rain and more rain to come in Yorkshire
Glad you`re having a nice time Sue, nice to hear from you from SUNNY  Benidorm
I have just about 1/2 an hour ago, sent an e-mail off to the hotel reminding them that I would like a room on the top floor
Looks like plenty of excercise walking down for us then

The hotel does it best to keep everybody happy, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time.
Enjoy the rest of your hols. :kiss

sanji here in the Regente.

Ive left it a couple of days before commenting on the Hotel.

I feel very sympathetic towards this hotel and its staff, they are doing(have done) their utmost and gone beyond the call of duty to eradicate any "bugs" that are\have been here.
I have heard nothing from anyone regarding being ill and we (me & hubby) have had absolutely no problem whatsoever.

To give you some idea on what they have done......
The toilets are cleaned 10 times a day, with the cleaners having to sign the timetable....before it was 3 times, morning, afternoon and evening.
This afternoon all the wicker chairs and cushions were steam cleaned in the concert room....and I dont mean a quick waff over with the steam wand.
They are paying particular attention to areas like every door handle, the lifts, the public telephones, remote controls, toilets including the door handles....anywhere that is person to person contact.
The ice cream system has been changed from the "scoop" method to individual tubs that are obviously bought in that way...again they thought that the "scoop" was another way of cross contamination from person to person via the hands.

People are still picking bread up instead of using the tongs and even the tongs themselves are changed frequently during the meal times.

All the water system has been cleaned and had chlorine added.
The whole hotel is spotless and I will defy anyone to find me a cleaner hotel in Benidorm.
All day long it is clean clean clean anything that stands still.

I dont have any connection with Thomson or Medplaya, but IMO this hotel has had some derogative critism thrown at it by people who stay in a 2* hotel and expect 5* standards, yet want to pay the 2* prices.

Tonights meal surpasses any 3* hotel that I have stayed in....
Salmon, fresh prawns, roast beef off the carvery, potatoes, chips, yorkshire puddings, sprouts, etc etc etc. and champagne.
We have had 2 carverys since tuesday...the other one being pork.

There is no doubt in my mind that people are bringing the "bug" into the hotel and helping it on its way with their lack of hygiene....or they are picking it up in some other establishment and them blaming the hotel

Three men used the gents last night while my David deliberately took his time washing his hands and drying them under the blower....and this message is from David to tell you that all 3 left the gents without going anywhere near the sink.
I rest my case.

This morning when we went into the concert room I thought it was Christmas, they have really got into the world cup fever and there are buntings of the various nations decorating the whole place, the highest percentage being the red cross of saint george.

Im actually writing this post from the Hotel Los Dalmatas because the internet is cheaper here....that would be my only gripe with the Regente.
However, there isnt a flag or bunting anywhere and no atmosphere.
I like the Hotel Los Dalmatas and now have friends who work here, I shall be returning here for Xmas and the New Year, Im not knocking it, Im just trying to point out the difference in atmosphere that the regente certainly has... IMO

The staff in the Regente are some of the most helpful, courtious, caring and pleasant people I have come across in a long time....they seem to want to go that one step further, and when the director tells you that his door is always open to anyone, then what more can I say.

Hiya Everyone.
Well as you can guess, I'm back home from my stay in the Hotel Regente in Benidorm....and missing Benidorm already

We had a great time and the weather was superb, some days a little too hot for even me and I'm a sun worshipper.
Lying on the beach was like lying on hot coals, and everyone seemed to want to hog the waters edge or had to get under a parasol, during the peak hours, we found it more pleasant to walk in it (sunshine).
It certainly was energy sapping at times, but loved it.

I'll not repeat myself about the changes that have taken place in the last six weeks since my last visit to the Hotel Regente, see my previous posts.
I will only say that this Director is pulling his hair out and will be going grey fast, trying to get to the bottom of the so called "bug" problem that seems to be haunting the place.
They aim each day to improve their services, there is always room for improvement that is the hotels policy.

I (and hubby) ate in the hotel restaurant everyday without any problems whatsoever.
We had some good food (I don't eat rubbish) and some nights the food, it was better than some 3* hotels I have stayed in "¦without doubt.
Only on the day before we were due to fly home, did we hear of someone being ill.

If you want a guided tour of the kitchens, then all you have to do is ask, they are proud of them and will show you around, no problem.

What I cannot understand is this .
If the problem lay in the kitchen and food, then all the guests would be affected, also the staff themselves including the Director, who incidentally brought his family into the restaurant to eat one night"¦they all eat the same food as the guests .that is a fact, I have seen it with my own eyes.

IMO: what you are getting is a small percentage of people who are infected with sickness and diarrhoea associated with rich food, excessive food/drink, lack of personal hygiene and the problems other guests bring into the hotel, probably from other establishments, but once a hotel gets a reputation, then it seems everyone wants to jump on the band wagon and blame the hotel for the slightest tummy upset some of which are self inflicted.
I'm not saying people were not ill, but I do question the source of the illness and how long the symptoms actually lasted.
I also question, whether it is the hotels responsibility to provide hand wipes which are not medical wipes, they are the lemon refresher type which do just that, (refresh) especially after peeling prawns.
They are probably in place as a subtle reminder, that the onus falls upon the guests to make sure that their hands are clean before entering the restaurant....or would you like someone to stop you at the door and ask you if you have washed your hands.... don't think so somehow.

I didn't have a meal on the plane this time, and apart from eating a few snacks in the cafe Vina del Mar at lunchtime, I ate everything else in the hotel, including the sandwiches that they have for sale, in the fridge/cool display at lunchtime.
Only once did I eat differently and that was a bag of chips from a well known chip shop in the old town, and the chips were tasteless and some were hard in the middle After eating a few, I threw them away in a bin and they repeated on me all afternoon . that night I had a touch of needing the loo"¦urm rather sharpish. TMI

This is a 2* hotel, with food that matches and some nights surpasses any 3* hotel that I have stayed in Hotels like the Pelicanos, Ocas, Rosamar, Marina, Fenicia and Dalmatas to name just a few.
If you go and expect 2* comfort with 3* food/service and very friendly staff, then you won't be disappointed for the price you have paid.
If you go paying 2* prices and expecting 5* standards, then you will be disappointed and will be expecting the impossible.

I stayed in Benidorm the 1st two weeks of June(not in the Regente) and I was struck down with a nasty 24hr bug which caused vomiting
I do not blame the hotel I stayed in nor the food on offer for this, as my hubby wasn't affected at all by the bug...apart from having to put up with me that is
There are a lot of air-bourne virus floating around and I think I may have contracted it on the plane/coach/from someone next to me in a club.
It is unfair to point the finger at the hotels especially as Sanji has said, they are doing their best to combat any virus/bug.

Hi we are back  our holiday was fantastic The bug thats supposed to be going around my hubby got ill but he had been drinking bitter, cider, lager.guinness, brandy and tia maria in a matter of a few hours  .Another of our party got ill after a lot of sangria and lots of barcardi.Another one of us again ill after another heavy night. There were 17 of us only illness beer related and over indulgence. The hotel i found very good pool great decking great foot amazing i have had worse in 4 star.It was good to meet sanji and hubby and put a face to a name.My kids loved Victor the entertainer they didnt want to come home.My youngest even offered to bring him home. The only downside would be walls are thin so hope your next to someone quiet.I could not have had a better time anywhere else in the world.Anyone going say hello to victor for us

Here`s a video that I made of the food in the Hotel Regente....
This was to show that we did have fresh prawns and roast beef, yorkshire puds. etc
The ice cream had been changed from the scoop method (inbetween my visits) to individual tubs and fresh fruit is in abundance each night.
This is a 2* hotel.

Enjoy.
