lot of opinions flying around about this... i go on the 1st of July, still worried as if i would of seen these comments when i booked i would never of done i dont think. my sister stayed at the Atlantica Princess Hotel and that was perfect.. (its not all inclsiuve i dont think tho)

the only letter i have got from First choice is them telling my its changed its name from Elina to Ixian Grand...

Any other feedback out there..... the later in the summer we go the more people will have been..

Just read your email and understand you are in the same position as us.I have been in touch with First Choice and seem to be getting nowhere.Keep getting told that there have been no complaints regarding the hotel.I spoke to an assistant manager in a first choice branch who had previously spoken to another Ixian grand customer.We were advised to make a complaint in writing to customer services.This is the only way it seems that we can get results.Have you considered putting in a complaint?

I got the letter about the name change the week befor we got the letter informing us that it was overbooked, and they were moving us to the Atlantic princess. The Atlatic princess is all-inclusive by the way, and apart from entertainment, the reviews look good.

im ring First Choice today to see if i can swap it.. tried last night but customer services was closed..

what did they say then?? would they not swap it??

Told us we had GOT to swap. Two alternatives offered, and I chose the Atlantica princess. No compensation offered, and told that the ABTA code says that as long as they give us the same class of accomodation in the same resort, they are not obliged to.
Still had no confirmation letter back from First Choice about this, and with the Ixian grand on our tickets I can see a c*** up coming on when we land!

Thompsom are good compared to this lot.

My travel agent warmly recommended me Atlantica princess. You will enjoy it. She was there last year at the end of september and she loved it. I have a lot of pictures of Atlantica but I don`t think I can post them here. If you want I`ll send them by PM.

Rik have u called First Choice yet?Are they ging to swap yo without yu paying extra? My boyfriend and I called customer servics in an attempt to get swapped to the Atlantica but were told we would have to pay administration fees and the difference in cost, which worked out about £300. Can you let me know how you get on with First Chice because we've had no luck with customer services.

Hi, I have never wrote a message on this before but we have just come back from the Ixian Grand yesterday and after reading mixed reviews I thought I would write something!

To start, I thought the location was great! It is right on the beach and many other hotels in Ixia are on a very busy road - we heard no traffic noise at all.

When we arrived (at 7am after a late flight and no sleep) the receptionist noticed on our slip from the travel agents we had requested a sea view, she said the room we had had a 'side sea view' and if we wanted to change we could. The room was good but the view was poor, 5 hours later we were in a new room with a great view. We were told our new room would be an 'older' one, but apart from some dodgy flowery curtains and a smaller bathroom they were much the same and of a very good standard and clean.

We asked our rep about the refurbished room situation - he said all the rooms were being refurbished one at a time (althought there was NO building work going on!) so I think it is pot luck if you get one or not!

The food was OK - what I expected really for a buffet style. We were a bit dissapointed with the A La Carte but it was free!

The staff were nice, one bloke on reception was a but usless but I think his English was not great. Most of the vistors were German or Dutch.

We loved sitting outside after dinner on the big white sofa's that were about 30 foot from the sea with lots of free wine and beer just playing cards and talking. It was quite romantic with the soft background music, candles and the sun setting over Turkey!

Overall, I agree with other people that it is not quite 5 star and could do with a lick of paint in some places. It is a great hotel for relaxing but would not go there with children.
I am very surprised at the bad reviews on the site, everyone we met at the hotel said they liked it.

I think that most of you are worrying over nothing and I am sure that you will have a good time at the Ixian Grand

Just to let you all know that it has been confirmed today that we are going back to the Ixian Grand in October (which proves it isn't that bad).

First Choice wanted £445 to swap the the princess. not changed it...

Just going to go and enjoy it.. happy to see some good reviews coming through..

When i got the paperwork through for my "forced change" to the Atlantic, they had to credit me with £104 on the new invoice so that I did not have to pay any more. It was described as a discount - accomodation issue.

Never mind, we will be there next week so we can see what all the fuss is about for ourselves.

Im going on the 1st July

I am going to the Ixian Grand with my hubby and 10 month old daughter on 14/06/06 so I'll let you know what it's like when I get back.

I checked the reviews before I booked and didn't find one bad one!! and now I must admit I am a bit wary after reading a few bad reviews that have popped up in the last couple of weeks but am going with an open mind. My parents are coming out for the second week and am scared at reports that the hotel is double booked as it will be a disaster if they can't get staying the same hotel as us. We have booked through Olympic Holidays.

I emailed the hotel about a baby cot and blankets etc and they replied next day, were very helpful & and even said they would try and allocate me a quieter room (away from the entertainment area) so am hopeful that the people who gave bad reviews were just ultra fussy. As long as its clean & the food edible I don't mind if the blankets aren't ultra modern.

Will let you know when I get back. Have a nice holiday.

PS I have found in the past that hotels have been given bad reviews and I've worried like mad until I've got there and everything has been fine.

I too have booked this hotel for the first time in August and looking at the brochure and web site am expecting a good 5 star quality hotel. The initial report threw me into a panic as it seemed so damming. I have however looked at other sites and reviews and can confirm that they all seem to recomment the hotel. I have posted the last report which was posted on the 2nd June. Make good reading. So fingers crossed to all that we have an enjoyable holiday. Anyone visiting between 3 and 15th Aug, let me know.
