We would like to go to Gran Canaria for Christmas.
We have been told by friends that there is a smoking ban in force and that for us to travel at Christmas and the weather not as hot, we would not be able to smoke outside like you do in summer and that all the restaurants are inside at Christmas. Can anyone enlighten us on this. Yes I know it is not a nice habit but do enjoy a cigarette on holiday.
Gail
of course you will be able to smoke outside at Christmas. The weather is still warm and most hotels provide little smoking areas with ashtrays/stub bins strategically placed.
Hi Val and Rob, thanks for your reply. We just thought it might be colder to sit out and that because of the smoking ban anyway it would be difficult to find a restaurant where we could smoke outside. Just another question if you don't mind, are the hotels like in Edinburgh where no smoking is allowed anyway including the rooms. many thanks. Gail
By the way, we've been to the Canaries twice at Christmas and both times it was very warm. I think it's only Janauary/February when it gets a wee bit chilly in the evening.
The way restaurants work is you can sit at the tables outside and smoke, if inside the restaurant you cannot smoke. Its the same with bars, you can smoke outside at the tables.
You can still smoke in Hotel rooms.
All your advice is much appreciated. Many thanks you have put my mind at rest.
We came back only two weeks ago and had found that is was possible to smoke inside in some places.
All restaurants dislpay notices as to where you can smoke
