Thanks to everyone for the replies. I am not going until August 2007, wish it was this year  . Still something to look forward to. Also I booked with Thomson. I saw it on the web site then phoned them. I did'nt realise it was a 'Gold'Hotel until after I had booked it, as I work in a school the break from kids will be very welcome hahaha  .

Hi,

I am going on holiday to Cyprus for the first time satying in an inlaws villa in Protaras. Have children 11 and 9 who normally like a complex ( pool and other kids being their main wish ). The place we are staying is not on a complex and doesnt have a pool. so iw as wondering if there are some nice hotels or appartment complexes which you can wander in if you are buying food and drink.

Also any other good times out for children and adults

Good restaurant recommendations

Any tips on best place to book car hire as we will need a car i think for the 2 weeks.

Kind Regards

Hi we have an apartment in Paralimni, our family use the pool at the Rising Sun when they are in Protaras, as the kids like the food here, go to the Marlita when in Pernera, Karas when in Kaparris the later seems to be the most popular at the moment as it has a small football field and mini golf area and usually organise football matches.
Across from there is the Sunny coast

to be honest you can use any of the hotels pools you just need to buy a drink

you might want to look at http://www.cypruseastern.com and ask the owners there what facilities they use.

If you know where the villa is might be able to help you with near by places for pool use.

Hi

We didnt come across any hotels that allow the use of pool to non-residents. As for good restaurants I would recommend The Nicolas Tavern, Anatolia & Promises.

For car hire try thisvi on the main strip. There is a fun park and a mini golf park in Protaras for children. The water park in Aiya Napa is fun for all the family.

Protaras is a lovely place to go and I am sure you will all have a great time :). Here are some photos of Protaras, http://www.protaras-cyprus.co.uk/

I agree, Nicolas Tavern is the place to eat, or possibly try No 1 Restaurant

A little out of protaras dependent upon where the villa is but the Hotel Andronica is excellent and allows use of the pool by non residents.

The number of ex-pats there is incredible, all very friendly and Mike and Patrick the barmen are worth visiting just to say hello.

Sunbeds are plentiful, food is great, company is great and pool is empty.

Next door at the Cavo Maris I believe they also allow use of the pool to non residents.

We went in the Papantonia pool even though we were staying in the Paschalia.. in fact we were walking through the pool areas, going to the bars etc of most of the other hotels that were between us and where we were going... no one jumped out and said "which room are you in?"

Flying this Sunday from Manchester. Staying at Domniki Appt, with 17 year old son and 12 year old daughter.
Anybody stayed at Domniki? Whats it Like?
Son will want to party and make freinds, where should he go?
Looking for a lively bar, where to go?

theres the knights inn in penera, sfinx and a couple of night clubs in protaras but the best is the square in agia napa costs about £12 in a taxi he will love that every 10foot someone offering free shots or two for one to go in there bar.if he goes here on the first night you won't see him again till going home.

We walked through these apartments from the LIVAS last year, they are really nice, or so it looks. Also the pool over looks the sea. A good size pool and spotless too, it is cleaned every day. You couldnt have picked a better place to stay as everything more or less has a sea view. The apartments are right on the beach of Pernera.

Hi there
Just got back from Marlita Beach at Pernera on Wednesday.
We had two 16 years olds (daughter and friend) with us. Their favourites were Bells Bar-very lively (on protaras strip), Floras(for cheap cocktails), Windmills in Pernera is pretty lively. Their favourite of course was the square in Aiya Napa which is mad but great for their age!!
For a really nice meal you must go to Blue Spice in pernera the food was brilliant. Hope you have a great holiday-I'm very jealous!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your help. I have tbeen tring to find out exactly where we are staying as the villa doesnt have an adddress yet.

It looks like it is between protaras and paralimni, the bay/beach it is by is called Ayia Triada . Not very precise I know but I have a hand drawn map to find the place. It is near a taverna called Loukiada.

If anyone know this area and suggest nice places to eat or appartment complexex/hotels nearby where the kids can use the pool then I wil be greatful.

have a car for 2 weeks so any must sees then let me know.

I go this wednesday.

Kind Regards

Hi Stewart

Here's the best map to give you a good idea of where you will be - Ayia Triada is in grid ref. C3 and the Loukiana in B3 halfway between the roundabout and the Ayia.

You will certainly need the car!

One complex fairly near is the Malama Holiday Village

If you have (or get) Google Earth, fly to the Loukiana at 35.049852°, 34.019354° !! Note the image is about three years old.

We stayed at the Brilliant Apartments in May. Lovely place - there are several reviews in the review section (ours included). You'll have a great time.

I stayed in the Brilliant a fair few years ago and we had one of the best holidays we've ever had there. Reviews seem to show that standards are still as high and that these apartments are still as popular as ever.

My brother in law was stationed at Dhekelia Garrison 18 years ago for 3 yaers.
He went back 3 years ago and said "Never again, it's changed too much."

My first trip over was 18 years ago (free accommodation! If it's for free, it's for me. ).
I still go back every year.

If you are staying in Protaras you will see a BIG BIG BIG change!
