Help Help..please we have a party of 10 going on the 16th of August 2006 from Bristol.
7 Adults, 3 girls, what are looking at options please, it's not about money, but we do like the sound of Club atlatica as an alternative option, on the issue of compensation, what would it be?, also could we have the compensation and book with another operator instead of FC, (Lost our faith in them)...kids really going to take this bad unless we have another option.
ps the Mrs's is not into Turkey or the Cost Del Sol

If that's what you fancy after KABC then go for it - remember it's not what you booked. If "I" get the chance to talk to FC - someday, then I will want to deal with the matter of compensation as a different issue - AFTER if have been supplied with an ALTERNATIVE holiday (sorry Wizard for the Caps)

Is anyone going to the Larespark hotel in Turkey. It works out within our budget and you should get some money back. It is 5 star luxury from what i've seen on the official larespark website.
Plenty of A L Carte restaurantes, patissery, cimema, disco, beach bar, etc etc etc.
I decided to make the most of first choice and i am going to book there. I shall be pampered for two weeks on them.
Oh as an added bonus it has an aqua park for the kids and a georgess sandy beach. Sounds perfect!!! I am going on 23 july is anyone going to join me

If you don't book through first choice you will only get 20% off your holiday cost you have already booked. If you book with them they will give you £150 per person more to put towards a dearer holiday. You will also get you compensation on top of that.

We (4 adults plus 4 kids) were going from Gatwick on 15 July - who knows where we will be going now.
I havent looked all weekend waiting for a glowing report on KACB from Janenmick, only to find all your reports - I dont think I'm going to get any sleep now until something else is booked.
We booked through Eclipse - have only seen one of you mention this name once, anyone else with them and have you got sorted with an alternative?
Just another note, we were definately not going to Turkey. However, their hotels are far superior and having spoke to several people who have been there. Nobody has a bad word to say about the place

We are now off to Club Atlantica Sungarden Beach in Ayia Napa. Hotel looks amazing and the reviews regarding the hotel sound really good. Only downside seems to be about the German population being larger than the English at the moment. Really excellent waterpark nearby too which really swung it for us. Check out the reviews on the Cyprus forum.
We booked through FC on the internet and had no problem changing to another hotel. In fact the girl at the other end of the phone was really helpful and sympathetic regarding ABC.
Sorry Wizard for talking about Cyprus on a Kos forum! Will try not to do it again, just trying to help others out who haven't got their new holiday sorted!
Managed to change to Kiotari Bay in Rhodes which I believe other casulties of Kos ABC did 1st/2nd time round, so will look forward to reading their reviews on their return, haven't had to pay anything extra and will get compensation refund of 10%., not quite sure why some have been offered 20%. Still feeling a bit disappointed about it being cancelled although at least its now been sorted and we know where we are going.
Really feel for all those that were suppose to have been going early July..Will be up for any bad publicity that may come their way.
I rang 0161 745 2113 at 8.58 this morning and got straight through... If you can catch them first thing you shouldn't have to wait ( famous last words..! ) Maybe I just got lucky this morning and because I was up and about and I hit the phone as soon as they opened...
There should be more staff on tomorrow morning as there are going to be so many calls that they have to deal with but if you are working.. that does make it very hard for you, as they then block the lines by having to phone out to people aswell!... espcially if you have not found a replacement yet. You can get through to the sales direct people easily to get them to search for a new hoiday for you, but I believe you need to speak to that team on the 0161 number to arrange the transfer over and see excatly what compo. you are entitled to...
I am gutted about all of this, but have sighed a hude sigh of relief that we managed to find somewhere in the main holiday weeks... as these type of holidays get booked up so early..

I rang FC at just after 5pm and was given the 0161 number but was told the customer services team shut at 5pm on a Sunday. I said that was ridiculous given the circumstances and the guy agreed with me. Which was nice but didn't help much!
we too like you were booked to go to kabc on 12th july and after seeing the bbc program decided that we could not trust first choice to open on july 1st, so we changed our holiday now going to cuba ,we had to pay extra for our holiday as fc insisted that kabc would open on july 1st ,
i now feel that as kabc has not opened that we too should be entiteled to some compo ,
i may ring them tomorro and see what they say, but im sure i know what they will say
Does anyone know when we receive our compensation? Hopefully before I go away, so have more spending money to buy some lovely handbags in Turkey! Trying to see best of things thou am so annoyed at FC, still not told my son that we will not be going on holiday on Saturday anymore! There are so many disappointed people out there, I don't think FC really care at all.
I will try and phone FC tomorrow as well to see what they say. Basically, we are £1,000 out of pocket because FC could not honour their commitment. I don't see what difference it makes whether we changed before the formal statement or after, the situation is still the same, we can not go to KABC. I feel so sorry for those who did not change beforehand. Hope everyone gets a really good holiday.
Perhaps the people who changed before the announcement can form a group to take action if FC will not give us compensation.
Well there was me thinking that FC couldn't possibly let us down after everything that has happened. Silly me to expect that they would pull out all stops, and that with a little positivity everything would work out just fine. How gullable am I?
Logged on yesterday thinking that the first visitors would be well on their way, I am so shocked that you were not informed much sooner, I still really can't believe that FC could be so selfish, do they not realise that us mere mortals look forward to our annual break, working our butts off for a year to pay for it?
However, my moaning isn't going to change anything, but I am well up for helping to bring this bunch of cowboys into the spotlight and getting them the attention they deserve!
I haven't been able to get through to the designated help line yet. I spoke to someone in another department and she told me I should wait to be contacted, and that me holding onto the phone trying to get through would just make matters worse for all involved! At this point I didn't feel like a very happy bunny at all, and I let rip! Didn't get me anywhere, but there is something to be said for letting off steam, especially when the person on the other end of the phone is being rude!
I am going to sleep with the phone under my pillow so when my alarm clock goes off in the morning I can call straight away. Have checked out alternative holidays on the website, I haven't seen anything yet that isn't in Turkey. I loved Turkey, but went there last year and want to go somewhere different. As I said in one of my first postings many months ago, I need small waterslides etc for my two young children, and bigger slides for my bigger, older 42yr old child!
Anyways, I must get an early night in ready for my very long phonecall tomorrow. Sweet dreams, ha, ha!!

Sorry to here about the mess that you have all been left in, we have returned form the Kiotari Bay two weeks ago after been cancelled from the Kos Aqua beach Club and i would just like to let you know of the situation, there. At present there is major building work being completed, most of this is screened off but it is behind the childrens pool, if you like to go outside of the complex the beach road has several tipper trucks using it everyday, the a lot of the facilities like bouncy castle, multi sports courts and ball pit are not available, if you want a sunbed you usually have to be up about 6.30 to get a bed, if you can get upgraded try for the varanda apartments as the pools are really quiet. i would say the Kids Club is great, the meals are ok,

Been away for the weekend and came on tonight to see how janenmick were getting on. Can't beleive it. So sorry for all of you who aren't going this year.
We are due to go May next year. We booked this on the understanding that it will have been open for 12 months. My other half is now saying he is not being a guinea pig by being the first ones there (if it ever opens!).
Can we cancel or will we lose our deposit? Does anyone know? We booked online with Eclipse.
