I think it is very unfair that those who transferred will not receive anything. FC customer services have acknowledged my e-mail, but not sent a response yet. Lets see what that says. Legally I don't know where we stand. We did have a contract with FC to go to the KABC, but did we break that when we transferred? We only transferred because FC could not guarantee that the hotel would be open. FC said the same to us, they would not give us compensation or honour our free child place when we transferred because the hotel was still due to open. However, they did say to me at the time that if the hotel did not open we could claim for compensation.
Anyway lets see what happens with the e-mails. Perhaps we should get some legal advice as to exactly where we stand?
so FC knocked an additional £450 of the cost of the new holiday, as well as £150 per person, and no admin charges.
Thats really interesting - when were you going - was it within 6 weeks of transferring?
My boss has been frightened to come into work today. He went to a lot of trouble to track down the address and telephone nos of KABC. He rang them on Friday to order Champagne and flowers for our room and was told that the guy answering the phone was a builder and that there was no staff at the resort yet!!! He was in a dilema all weekend as to warn me or not. I have a great Boss. We have managed to get into the Tarida Beach Hotel which is a premier property but there is no way near as much going on as KABC but it is all inclusive, this was our only option as we were due to fly on Weds morning. FC said it was this or PP. I couldn't afford the amount needed to rebook with another operator. Instead of a kids den we now have a studio and neither myself or my daughter wanted this. They say that they cant prebook my seats as it is too soon but they wont refund the £38 I have paid when I prebooked my seats to Kos!!!! I am all for taking legal action together.
What a depressing day saturday was!
Got the call from FC at 2pm, we lost the football at 6pm the brazil were knocked out at 10pm.
We were due to go out on sat 8th July. 1 week away.
We tried calling the (dedicated??) helpline on saturday afternoon but couldnt get through so we gave up and drowned our sorrows whilst watching the footy.
My wife called them first thing on sunday and got through OK. We had already chosen Pegasus Palace as our 2nd choice but it wasnt available on the 8th. They went through a few options with us and and finally got a holiday for the 20th July at PP with jacuzzi suite, late check out, flight from birmingham (which is better for us), sit together and insurance. This was going to cost us £45 extra including the £150 pp and compo.
We agreed to this as we knew if we booked any holiday from now onwards the prices just go up and up.
THEN my wife checked the pricing online and found it was cheaper.
She called the back to ask why and was told the price she found was the late deals sale price. FC agreed to change the costings for our holiday and i am now due to recieve £290 back!!
The moral of this story is check out what you are getting first on the internet. FC will probably offer you the brochure price but if you check out your replacement holiday in the late deals webpage you will probably get it cheaper.
Anyway i hope you all have a great replacement holiday - you deserve it!

you did beter than us then , as we had to pay the extra for our new holiday, fc would not agree to pay us £150 each as they said the kabc would still open on july 1st , but i now feel as it has not opened then we should have had that £150 each to add to our new holiday
the Director of Holiday Hit Squad (who i believe also watches this site) is aware of the situation, unfortunately the program has finished for this year, but they could be the stars of the first show next season (we hope)
really sorry for the rest of you - we fly to kos with Excel on Wed - I hope they aren't tooo many distraught people at the airport!
We would like to apologise to them and reassure them that we will do our utmost to ensure they get an alternative holiday, which wherever possible is of a higher standard than the one they booked. In addition, those customers who have been impacted will receive an appropriate level of compensation.
i.e. they are clearly saying they will offer a more expensive holiday AND additional compensation
Don't let them tell you otherwise
really quite happy now as we are now going to the original hotel which we wanted to go to, pegasus tropical.
Wasn't really happy when we heard the news though but now we got our tickets and are ready to go to turkey on wednesday
they still refused to move me, so i said i would go on the holiday, take loads of evidence over 2 days, then demand to go home as the holiday was not what i had booked, i would then take them too court. they still wouldnt budge.
tried again a few days later, and they agreed! i should have been going on the 19 july, and it was maybe may/june when we changed.
i am appauled by there attitude, and feel sorry for the staff dealing with the calls, but FC have to realise we save all year, we booked 1 year in advance, and there lack of information stinks.

I have just been reading all the posts. am absolutely shocked and disgusted that they have done this to you. my travel agents have just phoned me to tell me my holiday is cancelled. i am trying to get in to pegasus palace but travel agents have told me it will cost us another £600. we have seen it cheaper on the internet with a kids den and also £100 cheaper. dont know what they are looking at.
I had 20% off, £150 per person, plus £120 web price discount. Just mention the words "trading standards," "abta" and "law suit" in a variety of ways in loads of sentences. Worked for me.
When are you going? We have been there before and have transferred there for this year. It is a lovely hotel and in a really good position. You got a really good deal. We had to pay an extra £1,000 because we transferred out of the whole nightmare at the end of May.
carolyn 1st, excatly, thats where it all stinks because you jumped ship early and the other lady stayed put then she got a better deal and i dont think thats right as fc failed to open and therefore broke all the promises
I should add that FC told me anyone booked after August 2nd will only get a 10% discount.
Just been advised by my travel agent (Thomsons) that anyone booked after 19th July are getting 10% anyone travelling before that gets 20%
reading everyones experience's of contact with fc and what fc are prepared to do now, seems to differ all the time, WE WERE HONOURED our free child place, I refused to pay the 900 odd pound extra and kept saying to them that its not my fault YOU have cancelled my holiday that has been booked for 13 months, after being put back on hold we were told that the price had been matched by them, we were also told at the time that compensation would be in the region of £20-30 not 20%, ive so far not received this and to be honest im not expecting to get it, in a few months time, the season will be over, fc will have replaced all our holidays and look to next year of the opening of the Rhodes and Crete aqua beach club, where the fiasco will start all over again with fc getting away with it all over again1
