i know ive read some good and bad with the conrad, whereas the coral all are excellent reports, still cant make my mind up if this area is going to suit our needs, with me liking to get out and about, i love to walk out the hotel and wonder around shops, bars etc which i know i cant do here and need to get a 30 min bus ride, ummmm not exactly what i had in mind sadly, although it does look gorgeous, i looked at easter and prices are higher

There are shops in the Baron Hotel complex, immediately next door to the Conrad.
They're gift type shops plus a pharmacy, mini supermarket and a few other shops.

You can book to eat at the restaurant at the front of the Baron and you can drink/smoke (the bubbly stuff) at the Baron bar (there's one outside) and watch the entertainment there.

There are also a few shops in the Conrad itself.

Thanks for everyones advice i would still like to go but i have been told by a friend that they know of someone who went to egypt and said to stay away from the place because it horrible and dangerous and the locals are were crazy.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Absolutely not!

Yes, there is a very real threat from terrorism, as there is in many countries, but as for local people being crazy?! Dangerous?! Not in my experience, no

Thanks for that, i was just told that the locals were causing riot and it was a dangerous place to visit.

Im thinking of staying at naama bay, what hotels can anyone reccomend in that area, ideally i'd like it to be near the beach and town.

Obviously Egypt is a big country.....which part did your friend's friend visit?
I've only been to Sharm but certainly didn't see any rioting there.

Im not sure i'll have to find out

The only rioting I've experienced was in Nuweiba. A podgy ginger haired man was running round like a headless chicken, swearing in Swiss I think, after he accidently broke a black jar.

We have booked to go to sharm staying at the new fc holiday villiage in Jan. Since I booked my partner was told at work that theres nothing to do there and that the shops r all closed at this time of year ! Help someone put my mind at easy because im sure there must loads to c and do! :?

Barb, dont worry! You are going to a place that just "lives" for tourism! No, the shops will not all be shut, what rubbish! You will find loads of things to do if you get fed up with basking in the sun by the beautiful blue sea. The Sinai is full of wonderful things to see, far more than you will manage on your first visit.

Those who told your partner those things are probably just jealous that they aren't going! Or they prefer a week in Butlins!
