Definitly for the rest of this season it is still one big complex.
Someone on holiday told me that the Tropical was changing to a greman hotel next year (was it you that told me that Hayley???) and in the brochure for next year it only shows only half the complex on the map........dont see how they could devide it though? Im sure you would be still ablr to use the pools etc but maybe diff wrist bands so you cant use restaurants bars etc excpet maybe the steak payable one.......saying that the wrist bands all turn white in the water anyway!!!
Vicky
The first choice brochure shows holiday prices starting from April 07 for the holiday village turkey this must be from when the complex is split. I might be wrong but that is what i guess.
no it was'nt me vicky, everyone i asked did'nt know anything about it. i guess your right about being able to use the pools but not the restaurants which would be ok anyway in my eyes, the steak restaurant is payable anyway is'nt it so they will let anyone dine there i would imagine. definatly one big complex till next year.
Someone else around the pool must of told me then but someone def told me the rep had said PT german next year and PP for Uk so we will have to wait and see.
Why dont you email FC and ask them?
Vicky
we went to the Palace in August and had a great time - in fact we have already booked for next year. I asked Eclipse Direct (part of the First Choice Group) about the split - they will be separate properties next year but the latest information they had is that you will still be able to use the facilities of both - although I cannot see how that will work.
It makes sense that the Tropical will be a German resort, like lots of resorts in Turkey, Sarigerme was traditionally a German dominated resort until First Choice moved in. They are also building a new hotel on the other side of the Palace so it will be interesting to see what that will be. IF anyone has any questions I'd be pleased to help. By the way, if you are going this year/season, apparently you will be able to use the facilities of both the Palace and tropical - they will only be separate next season.
It only covers 1 single page unlike The Palace which they give a 4 page spread to.
They don't even show any pictures of the slides ot the tropical gardens which I think are a good selling point for the hotel
One more - Do the taxis accept Sterling or Euros ?
I was thinking of not bothering to take any Lira just £50 worth of Euros and £600 sterling, along with the card to book our trips and have a meal at the steak restaurant.
Or really I shoould ask is there anything at all that can only be paid for in lira alone ?
Thanks in advance
We off to pp in the morning and i know this isnt the right tread but need quick advice please
Does the visa £10 have to be a brand new £10 note or is a normal one ok(no writing on it ect) ????????????
as long as the notes are in good condition they should accept them, the ones i had weren't brand new
A First Choice rep while we were out there told us Thomson was possibly going to sell PT next year. I know they aren't at the moment.
I actually got talking to the Financial Controller of PT he explained after the mess last year a new management company for Iberostar had been brought in, which he was on of them. He split his time between 1/2 weeks at PT and his home in Alanya.
He told me that Iberostar were still in discussions with First Choice about PT for next year.
Can't see how it would work splitting to the two sites, but I suppose we will have to see.
Were a bit confused about the money situation. Is it best to just take one currency or a mixture to pay for things. Does everything need to be paid in a mixture of euros, lira and sterling. We would rather just take one currency.
Any advise
Thanks Nicola & Leonard
you could almost certainly get away with just taking Pounds - the complex plus all shops and the tour company take Pounds. You might want to take a few Lira if you are intending to go out on trips. But on the whole it's POunds which feels quite bizarre!
Hope this helps - have a great time.
just to let you know they are splitting the hotels for next year.
Wasn't told it was going to be German though!
We met up with the Iberostar manager while we were there and there were also people there looking at the best place to split the two.
In my opinion it is a great idea. I preferred the Tropical side myself.
This may be an odd question but does anyone know if the food e.g salad and fruit in the resturant washed in bottled or tap water just trying to avoid tummy troubles. Thanks
We were at palace in August and both my wife and someone we met had tummy troubles. The only thing different that they had eaten was the salad, so they thought this was to blame. It didn't spoil the holiday too much. Immodium worked straight away so I would suggest taking some with you just in case.
Enjoy the holiday - we did.
If you do any trips please book with Mustafa at Sarigerme Tours. The value for money is second to none - We can personally recommend the Jeep safari - it was the best day of our holiday but dont wear your good clothes !!!!!!!!

ok thanks, will steer clear of the salads, what trips would you suggeat were ideal if you have young children my daughter is 3 years old. Can't wait off next week what did you think of the hotel, facilities, rooms etc overall. You read alot of varied responses. Thanks

We are off to pt on 16/9. We fly from LGW at 1.30 so will not arrive at hotel till around 8.30/9pm local time. Can anyone tell us waht time the restaurant is open till, will we be able to get food/ drink when we arrive?
Thanks
Emma
Drink free til 1am
Restaurant open til 10pm then again at 11.30pm til 1am
Entertainment was ok....singers, quizes and shows like grease etc.
Regarding salad and fruit my baby ate frsh melon everyday and ate things off the salad bar, cucumber, tomatos, eggs etc and never had a tummy upset we wer a party of 11 altogether on no one had upset tummy in 2 weeks the salads are amazing dont avaoid them!!!
We prefered Palace side to tropical just better slides at tropical and the yummy steak restaurant.
In my opinion i wouldnt take any euros just sterling and a little lira we took £50 in lira.
Vicky
Choice of salads and food in general were amazing. Think you should try the salads it would be a shame to miss out. As Vicky06 replied all of her party were ok with eating salads and fruit. Maybe it was something else that had caused my wife and our new friend to have upset stomach. Most of our party ate the melon but did not try much of the other fruit on offer.
As for the hotel facillites etc - you wont be disappointed. We had 2 standard family rooms (2235 & 2236) and found the size of room and bathroom to be big enough for us (4 in one room and 2 in the other). Only fault we could say about the rooms that there was no draw space but is shelves in the wardrobes.
For the trips we did 2 - Jeep Safari and Fethiye Market, Ghost Town and Blue Lagoon (1 trip).
Our kids are a lot older than yours (12,12 & 14). Dont really think the Jeep Safari with Mustafa would be suitable for a three year old but ask Mustafa and he will advise you. Hopefully someone else on the messageboard will be able to advise you better on the trips.
Any more questions please feel free to ask.
