Well, that's it........cases all nearly packed and we're off tomorrow morning
Not much vinho tinto left Pat I drunk it all last week. The weather is absolutely scorching too hot for me, arrived home late Sunday night to quite surprising mild weather in UK. Off again in 4 weeks time so please save me some vinho, I'll be your friend for life, haha. Cheers Jayjan
Jayjan I will do my best but you will have 2 weeks after we come back for the stocks to be replenished........wouldn't see a friend stuck.....
Looked at forecast and it's between 30 -32 deg
Think I'll be VERY thirsty

Next day I was a little rough but we had a good natter.
Hi Glynis, Glad you enjoyed your holiday, hope youve left some vinho for me, if you been out drinking with Sagres I'm feeling rather pessamistic. Its been very quiet in this topic with Sagres, Pat, Mad Mick & you being away on holiday. Cheers Jayjan
I didn't touch a drop of vinho on my hols so my share is definitely left
I finished it off this afternoon!!!
We decided to go to Cape St Vincent one day. Had a smashing time and I bought a hat. The guy wanted 30 euros, but i knocked him down to 26 by threatening to include my missus.
Cape St Vincent would have been nice if we could have seen it, it was foggy lol.
We called there as well Mick - didn't buy anything though
Am back after a great holiday in Cabby.......just wondered about you guys and the Monte Velho as I could only find it in one shop in Cabby..... think you must have done some serious arm to mouth raising right enough
There was plenty of Vinho Verde we supped gallons.
Hi Pat glad you had a good holiday. They should have plenty Monte Velho in Modelo Albufeira, thats if Sagres aint bin and bought it all, hopefully he wont venture from outside of Lagos. Cheers Jayjan
What I did find a little worrying, though, was that it seems to be getting more and more difficult to find draught Sagres ( at least in Lagos it is. ) I don't know whether Superbock have had a sales promotion, but it seems by far the most readily available nowadays.Has anybody else found this ?
Glynis, we finally made it to Amoreiras beach near Aljezur;don't know if you found it, but it's even more breathtaking than the photo I sent you the link for.In fact we went back there a second time before we came home.If anyone else is interested, just shout and I'll try to find the link to the photograph.
Hi Sagres, hope your holiday is going well & the weather is ok. Regards the Super Bock, a few friends of ours who own bars have told us they get lots of promotional stuff from the brewery like free parasols tables chairs etc, and also if they buy so many barrels they get a free one thrown in, maybe Sagres dont do this, pity really as i dont like super bock and only drink it under protest Hahaha when i feel like a long drink as apposed the vinho tinto & branco.Only 9 days to go & i,m off to sunnier climates hopefully. Cheers Jayjan
We came home Tuesday afternoon and, before we left the hotel, it was too hot to sit outside.Apart from the tail-end of hurricane Gordon which gave us three hours of torrential rain one morning during our first week(that's the last time I buy any of his gin ) ,the weather has been great;we were able to sit outside (drinking) every night 'till the early hours with temps still in the 80's - unusual for September as you normally get the odd cool breeze in the evenings, but not this year.
Experienced the first ever delay we've had since we've been using Jet2 - 45 mins late into Manchester on our return - but this paled into insignificance when compared with the one hour and five minutes to get through passport control !! When we finally picked up our luggage and went outside to find that our taxi hadn't turned up,we were really past caring so sat down and had a little drinkie while we waited.
Still can't believe we've been away for 22 days - never known a holiday go so quickly.
Have still got the link Sagres if you want it.
We didn't find any probs in getting draught sagres in Cabby.........@ 1.50 euros!!!!
Does this mean that you might venture towards the east coast in search of you beloved namesake?
Don't know if Cabby could survive both you and me plus our other halves at the same time
We had no probs with passport control or our flights except when we landed at Glasgow (half an hour EARLY), there was a prob with the lights in the hold (so they say) and we had to wait an hour for our luggage (without a drinkie!!!!)
So that's it for this year with the Algarve........until next May/Sept.
Pat
While we were there in Sept from the 1st to the 11th I found it too hot, not comfortable to sit in. I read in the Algarve Resident that the hospitals had been very busy with people with heat stroke. I am hoping it has cooled down a little by next week so at least I can sit & drink my Vinho in the sunshine, something I couldnt do in Sept, was constantly under a parasol trying to cool off. Cheers Jayjan
