Hi all
Myself and lovely fella are arriving in Portugal (Faro) on 7th October. It will be the first time that either of us have been to Portugal so very excited!!
We are staying in an area of Albufeira called Olhos d'Agua. Can anyone give me some general info about this area. Stuff like is it far from the centre of Albufeira, what the beach is like (our apartment is approx. 750 metres from the beach apparently! ) Some general info would be much appreciated!
Thank you all. Oh and am loving reading the posts, lots of useful stuff to know!

Sorry to see no-one has answered your post but, as you probably know from looking around the forum, it's Mad Mick who's the Olhos d'Agua expert - and he's out there at the mo! You could try a search for all his posts but it's a long job!
If you look at this map and click across to the right, you'll see where Olhos d'Agua is located. It's a few miles east of Albufeira.
We've only been there once and this is the photo I took of the beach. Had a drink at the cafe by the beach and a quick wander. It's a very pleasant place and I would think it would be quite quiet in October.
I hope you have a lovely first holiday in Portugal. October is a good time to go as the weather is still very warm and the crowds have gone. Hopefully you'll fall in love with the Algarve and this trip will be the first of many!
I can tell you anything you like to know about Olhos d Agua. We purchased an apartment there last year after falling in love with the place.
You are a short taxi ride from the strip in Albufeira, cost about 4 euros. You can walk it but it takes about 40mins. There are 3 beaches at Olhos, one is the main village beach, and a quieter beach just round a cove on the right as you look at to sea. to our left is Falesia beach which goes all the way to Vilamoura. Taxi to Vilamoura should be around 15 euros. There are lots of bars and restaurants for you to try. You could eat in a different restaurant every day for a month. Are you hotel or self catering?
Most people that go to Olhos fall in love with it and keep going back. BTW don't shout too loud about the resort, we don't want others to find out do we?
Anything else u need to know?
I'm going to Olhos D'agua on saturday, we went last year too. Its a lovely area which is quite quiet but has a really good choice of restaurants (Make sure you go to Il Fratellis!!) its only about 3 euros in a taxi to the strip where you've got loads more choice of food and lots of bars xx
I have had a good look on some Algarve tourist sites and have a rough idea of what the resort is like! Fairly quiey by the sounds of it but myself and Boyf are happy with that! And easy access to Albufeira when we want something different!
9 sleeps to go! Am sooooo excited!

Not tried Fratellis which is an Italian Restaurant.
But try these if you want a good meal. A Cantina, La Cigalle [Great setting if a little pricey.] O Caxoite [Same as previous]. Golfinhos, not been quite as good lately. Also very good but slightly less pricey are Olhos d Agua Restaurant and Ambre Nectar. Cant think of any more at the mo.
If your on a budget the 3 Marias are about 5 mins walk from large Marachino towards Albufeira. Bread and butter, soup or salad, meat or fish dish, and sweet. Plus you get half a bottle of wine. Its Portuguese owned so the food it fine and all for 9.95 euros. About £7
