Hiya Stephen

I have managed to find 2 rooms at the villa de benidorm, which is part of the magic amigos group.....through Alpharooms

Booking in on the 31st Dec, until 2nd Jan 2007.

The price works out at £362. 89 per room, but that is splitting the kids up and having 3 only in a room, so one will have to kip down with grandma/dad...total cost for ALL of you (4 adults and 2 kids) £725.78....on full board basis.
As the hotel Pelicanos is more or less opposite, then you could go there at night.....just a thought.!
Like Kev says...the pelicanos is working out at £312.00 per room,£616.00 with on-line discount..... again splitting the kids up, and that is on Half Board basis.

It isn't cheap at this time of the year...and I should know having just paid my final balance a few days ago.....but hey, it's only money!

Thanks Sanji for the info on the hotels at Christmas. After deciding on Portugal instead of Benidorm last year it turned out to be the holiday from hell. This year it is the turn of my son-in-laws parents to have my grandchildren so we have to decide soon where to go.We can now go from Gatwick as my daughter lives nearby, so we may have more choice of flights ,hotels etc but I think the Regente sounds the best.I stayed at the Dalmatus 2 years ago and loved it but it may well be fully booked now.

Hi weemaz . i booked my flights from Glasgow in July and got a good deal but the flights had just been released with easy jet and that's really the only time you will get a good deal for that time of year ,globe span also have had their flights out for quite a long time now so you wont get a bargain with them. That is the only budget airlines that fly from Glasgow to Alicante if that is where you are thinking about going. You will find it very difficult to get cheap flights this late on but again that depends on what you think is cheap.
Good luck , Stephen.

I am going to Benidorm for the new year with my wife and two sons (14+20) to the Flamingo Oasis and I am just wondering if there is anything different to do through the day than the usual looking around the shops etc. for example are there any local football teams, english cinemas, bowling alleys, or places of interest we could visit if we find ourselves at a loose end , i would be very gratefull of any suggestions. :hmmm

Hi Sparky Mark, There is a bowling alley on the Mediterranea, it is a good way from the Flamingo Oasis but wouldn't be much in a taxi if you didn't want to walk. The prices are similar to the U.K and each time I've been, we haven't had to wait for a lane.

There's also bowling in the basement at the Publeo Hotel but they're like the ones in the amusement arcades at the seaside that are on strings, not as good as the real thing.

At the Flamingo Oasis, they show recently released English films several times a day so it would be a bit of a waste going to a cinema.

As for football, I haven't got a clue, sorry

Mundamar will be open, Terra Mitica on some weekends, I don`t know if Terra natura will be.

Take a bus ride to Albir or Altea, you can catch a bus outside the hotel, It will fill an afternoon for you.

If you walk towards the beach theres a letting agent selling winter tourist train ticket you can hop on and off the train anywhere Between Denia and Alicante, they are valid all wekend and excellent value, you will need to get a taxi or bus to the train station.

We like to walk around to Poniete through the old town we then get the bus to Cala Finestrat have a walk around then the bus back.

Don`t forget to stop for a coffee and brandy, it`s lovely sat in the sun.

Wish I was going staying at home this year for the first time in 4 years.

Myself and my family are going to Benidorm over New Year. As I've never been before, this time of year, my wife was wondering what type of clothing will be needed for both day and evening.
Thanks

Hi Mark , I took a bit of everything.Last year it rained for two days and was cold, needed fleeces even in daytime and definitely need something warm every night. New years day and the day after we sunbathed around the pool after lunch for about three hours. I took long sleeved tops and short sleeved ones, long skirts and trousers, one pair of daytime/night sandals and a couple of pairs of shoes, one daytime one night. For newyears eve I took a chiffon suit and glitter sandals as we stayed in the hotel that night. I hope this helps , enjoy your stay . We will be there from 28th Dec to 4th Jan....roll on....cant wait :)

What's the resort like for New Year? Is it busy, lots of entertainment or wouldn't you recommend it, please?

Hi. I love being in Benidorm for the Christmas and New Year Festivities. The atmosphere is like no other place I can think of. Yes, there is lots going on and you will be spoilt for choice as to where to go or what to do.

You may need to pre-book your Gala New Year's Eve meal if you are staying in a Hotel, but if not there are plenty of places to dine. I can highly recommend Benidorm at New Year.

Navidad feliz y un prospero ano nuevo (Spanish for Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year) :wave :ghug
