Goa V Thailand

Hi

Been to Thailand 4 times, love it but is very different to Goa.

Have to say I didn't like Phuket that much, very commercialised, I did love Cha Am and Ao Nang in Krabi though, much quieter and low key.

Chiang Mai in the north is great though and Bangkok is an experience and a half but I love it.

The pace of life in tourist Thailand is faster than in Goa, however the infrastructure for getting around is fantastic and tis a great point to hop off to other areas from too

I dont know, i think im more likely to go back to Goa (again)

I just feel like im going back home when i go to Goa.

one example is we were in Goa in April this year, we went into a restaurent, and we hadnt been on holiday to Goa for a couple of years, but the owner Bernard came over straight away and said how are you, where are your parents, arent they with you this year. I was surprised he recognised us.

Thailand if a fantastic place, I would imagine packages to Cha Am/Hua Hin are as cheap if not cheaper than Phuket.

Phuket does have some areas of go go bars, if you don't like that sort of thing then head for Hua Hin/Cha Am, this is where the King and royal family go on holiday so if its there its very well hidden indeed.

Speak to TravelBag and Colurs of Asia, they have good deals on hotels etc.

Thailand and Goa are very different. You will find the standards of Hotels etc very much higher in Thailand and hotels offering breakfast get it much better than Goa.Phuket is quite commercial but I do not mind that.I think all in all the Thais have just got the tourism thing just much better together than Goa but that is probably what gives Goa so much charm. After all these years dealing with tourists they still really have not got much of a clue.Still love Goa though.

Cost of living wise both are quite similar although as in Goa you can spend a lot if you want to.If not eat off the street stalls for pennies. We have been to Pattaya many times Hua Hin, Koh Samui,Phuket,Ao Nang and of course Bangkok. For nightlife and variety Pattaya has it all but one of our favourite places was AO Nang which is very pretty and quite laid back.

Now there you go got me thinking again...Thailland or Goa in Feb.

Good Luck

I have been to Thailand 7 times , have stayed in Ko Samui, Krabi, Hua Hin, Phuket, Mae Hong Sorn , Bangkok, Chiang Rai, ChiangMai , all were great, the hotels in Thailand are very very superior to Goan hotels.
The airports are swish, everything goes to plan, there is the most amazing sightseeing and the people are lovely.

However Goa has got my heart , even though things are a shambles, that is all part of the charm for me, I absolutely love the Goan people, scenery , sights and smells and although I will always love Thailand, Goa is now no. 1 for me.
