Hi yes you can get contact lenses in the opticians in Goa. They have daily's and monthly ones but I haven't been able to get the ones you leave in for a month and then dispose of. Are you staying in Panjim?? because there are opticians throughout North Goa - 3 or 4 in Calungute alone (who do lenses) and in the South, Margoa is closer so unless you are staying in Panjim I'd find an opticians thats closer to where you are staying.
good luck

hi
we've used 'eye site' they have 2 branches in candolim one on the main rd just next to the magnum hotel & havelli outdoor resteraunt, the other branch is on the rd to the beach from candolim. quite good variety of modern frames good prices, im sure theyre cheaper in some other places in goa but we were pleased with the convenience & service. for an eye test & prescription made up cost me £45 - i only need 'help' for one eye, a quote for a friends prescription with nice frames as well was £80, the price on the original prescription frames etc from boots here was over £300.

Got agree with Millym,

We've used Eye site at least 5 times. We have never been disappointed, o/h had 2 pair rimless, varifocal reactolite, I've had prescription tinted sunglasses, glasses for reading & also prescription lenses anti-glare for driving. Daughter had prescription contact lenses in normal & coloured, her friend as had coulered lenses. Also had eye tests, would thoroughly recommmend this opticion. We use the one on the beach Rd in Candolim.

Could some one please let my vain husband know if he can get specs that are supplied with ultra thin lenses and he likes to use Silhouette frames (these are the frameless look). The lenses that he likes are made by Varilux and cost over £400 here in UK (hence we would like to source them from India now that we are OAPs) The lenses are veri focal but are so thin you hardly know he's wearing bins!

I would recommend taking your own up to date prescription. The eye tests done in Eye Site only "confirm" the prescription in your current glasses.

Last year I bought two pairs from Eye Site in Beach Road and was pleased with them. However, this year I decided to buy a "spare" pair as I have a very complicated and expensive prescription for varifocals. Unfortunately I had nothing but problems. They went back 3 times and are still not perfect but as I was leaving for the UK I decided to keep them. I did ask for thin lenses but did not get them but as they were 77 pounds (and I ususally pay 500 pounds in the UK) I decided that they would be OK for spares. I got the impression that Eye Site are over stretching themselves - orders were not turning up on time and the guy was on the phone to someone for 15 minutes (while I patiently waited to be attended to) trying to find out where his orders were.

I used the eye site shop next to Havelli bar on main road with my own prescription. I have varilux and reactolite lens. Got new pair in Summer in England and they were £350. In Goa - trendy ones with same lens £106.

hi
i got the whole thing - eye test & prescription & specs made up at eye site and was very pleased. the guy recommended that i get the one glass (for my bad eye ) as a varifocal/bifocal thingy as in my job, where im finding i need the glasses, im looking up & down all the time & he said it would be better otherwise id be taking the glasses on & off constantly. i didnt listen to him & went for the basic ones to correct my one short sighted eye (yes i know im a bit lopsided  ) and the first time i used them at work i thought..........oh i should have listened to that optitian in goa he was right!!!! i have since got them changed to what he suggested and they are perfect! i think it was sheer vanity i just thought bifocals = granny/old lady/getting over the hill etc etc & for someone who had taken a long time to admit to herself ( again sadly probably vanity ) that i needed glasses ending up with a pair that looked like an old wifeys was too much to cope with at once!!! (but they dont look like wifeys glasses i was being silly)

Do not rely on a Goan eyetest. Take your own prescription for sure.

Bought two pairs a few years back and frames have broken and not by mis-use, just poorly made Indian frames. The glasses were sorted on a return trip for FREE. Good prices though.

Over the last two seasons I,ve had a couple of varilux glasses and a pair of varilux sunglasses made at eye site and was more than happy with both the quality and price, the first pair he did the eye test, not just the usual computerised one a lot of them use, and when I had my eyes tested in the U.K. and the lenses checked, they were spot on. My wife bought a six month supply of contact lenses for the price of one month supply in the UK.

Surprise, surprise - they were made in Scotland.

Think someone has already asked this question but ive not seen a reply (might just be me!)
Can you take someone else's prescription and get specs made for them. Already have good glasses, bought in the UK, so this is just a cheaper back up pair we will be looking for. Any recommendations where to go? Preferably in Baga/Calangute area. Thanks :D
