I have a share in the park and ride in Pamporovo and have been told yesterday that business is booming as loads of people are flocking there as there is no snow anywhere else in Europe. I'm assuming therefore that they do have snow in Bulgaria now.
take Bansko, its the highest area with snowcertaintly (spelling)
Has anyone got any hints or tips for us while we are there?
I have been told that Bulgerians love mobile phones and to take some old mobiles to get some great discounts in the ski shops, someone I spoke to got £90 off a new snowboard after handing over 2 old mobiles.
Anything else we should take to barter with?
Cheers,
Pete.
Even Bansko may be pushing a bit mid-April but this season had a slow start snow wise so it may go on later. My advice would be to keep watch on the conditions and book late. Plenty of accommodation in Bansko these days with the new apartments and good standard hotels.
Hello A. see you sooooooooooooon
Normally ski in France but hear so many reports about skiing in Bulgaria I just wondered if there were any experienced skiers out there who could give me the low down.
Thanks
Here we have some really good resorts with good tracks suitable for skiing.Depends if there is enough snow...
What has the snow been like this year?
Its been similar to other European destinations- not been as good as normal. Resorts did not pick up till mid January and from then on there were periods of really good snow interspersed with more mild weather.
The more I read about Bulgaria the more tempted I am to try it out.
The only worry I have about going is the fact that the snow might not be very good. I only get to go skiing once a year and I would be gutted if the snow was patchy.
I guess the only way to find out would be to go.
Now the summer season is about over, has anyone else booked to go to Bulgaria skiing? We are going to Borovets in Feb and really looking forward to it. Not sure if we will be a family of skiers or not by the end of it, but I'm sure we'll have a great time anyway
i have been to borovets twice skiing, if your learning to ski you will find it excellent, its cheap, good slopes for beginners, and feb is the best time to go, we went in feb once and i never seen as much snow, i am sure u will enjoy it, not too great for intermediates as it can get a bit boring going down the same slopes as there isnt that many, just beginners everywhere...fractured my arm there first time i went snowboarding, god the hospital was a joke so dont go there if ya can help it. the guy was smoking a cigarette at the same time as wrapping a bandage around my arm lol...ENJOY...
5th time
Sounds like we made a good choice then! Hope so anyway as 2 friends have now booked to go as well- also first time skiers. All we need is the snow and it should be great.

Hi I wondered if anyone can help my daughter and her friends want to go snowboarding and bulgaria keeps coming up could u tell me when the best time to go is and where and who to book with
I would leave it till January or February. The snow was late in arriving last year- mind you, it was the same all over the place. As to where the best place is I'll leave that to the ski/snowboard experts to say
