i think i would wait untill the 1st of may or which day they open,then book,i would be surprised if no availability as other people will have had the same problem.most hotels keep a few rooms back for direct bookings,first choice will have commandeered a block of rooms.which hotel is it? and where?have you checked all the diy companys ie.wsh,alpha rooms etc.we go diy in may to a sol hotel,and we just gave a credit card number as assurance for the booking,no money is taken unless you dont turn up,then they take the first night out. mo.

It's the cala d'or playa apartments in cala d'or majorca - we stayed there last year and loved it.

Tried everywhere - no good - either first choice or direct.

Wondered if the bank could check out the account for me?

Are the apartments with any booking agents such as alparooms or medhotels? they would take cc and just a deposit

Tried most of the agents - Sol Cala D'or is over the road - it's the Cala D'or Playa apartments we want to stay in.

The e-mails I've had are from the same person so I think I would be ok, it's just the first time ive gone diy and feel a bit nervous - you hear so many horror stories.

I think the main reason they can't take credit cards is that they are officially closed until May.

The one thing that made me worry was the one reply I had back from the apartments had an attachment with it from a Rodhartnett?? based in berkshire? no idea what that was doing there - something to do with loversleapdisco???? Any ideas- not very clever where computers come in!!

The bank says there is no way to check wether or not the account is genuine.

Going with my gut instinct and have cancelled the booking and booked with sol cala d'or apartments instead.

So hassle free! Just gave my credit card number to reserve room - can cancel for free upto 10 days before I go and won't charge me a penny till i get there! Even a free phone number on website for queries.

It might have been that ive been over cautious but best to be safe than sorry I say!

I just know I would be stressed right up until we reached the apartments!

The write ups on the cala d'or sol apartments sound good and they were only round the corner from cala d'or playa.

Will double check with the Playa apartments when we're out there face to face to see whether payment details are correct for future reference.

You know what they say - all things happen for a reason! Feel happy and excited now - something to look forward too! Yipee!
