i book about 6-12 mths in advance if i can, ie i booked my july 07 flights in sept 06 and my oct 07 package in dec 06, but ive just booked my whit flights within the last few weeks, so it just depends what prices are like as soon as i see a price im happy with i book it and its a good job i booked my turkey ones when i did as my flights and package to turkey this year together have gone up over £900 massive increase

So when will the first brochures be out for summer 2008 please?
Our local Co-op Travel has a poster in the window saying "Summer 2008 available soon", although from my own past experience it is usually around the end of April/beginning of May before you can book, so at least another 5-6 weeks yet.

I have been in to my local First Choice agent today and their Summer 2008 brochures are available on April 12th.
They are also trying to get as many people to book an appointment for their "exclusive" late night when you can book the holiday for next year and get the "best" discounts.
I went to this last year and if that was anything to go by I wouldn't go again. They had no special promotions, discounts or any other kind of saving that you wouldn't get if you went into the agents on a normal day.
I actually booked my holiday last year on the promo night. Two days later, the online price with the same company was £350 cheaper and surprise surprise, the agent matched the price.

Well I know exactly where I want to go so have passed all info onto my travel agent so she can book when they come out. (she is a mate too

I am thinking of booking my holiday for next year early but I worry that with it being early something could happen go wrong etc

I don't know about savings so much, but if youwant a specific hotel or whatever, you've obviously got a much better chance; also free kids places - we even managed to get one in August for our then 11 year old

Why am I already thinking about booking a hol for next year?? Haven't had this years hol yet. Next year we have to go in the school holidays, got kids doing GCSE coursework so can't really take them out of school.
Do they still do free kids places in the main holidays and do you have to book really early to get these?? I tried to book a holiday once when they first started doing the bookings for the following year but they hadn't released the free kids places, tried again a month later and managed to get two! They make it very stressful.

I booked April 2006 for this August and we got a free child place. Got a cracking deal I think, a two bed apartment in a self catering hotel for less than the price of a family room. I even rang to check the internet price as I didn't see how it could be right- Customer Services couldn't explain it, obviously a glitch in the system but they said that was the price showing and I could book it!!
Also booked skiing for Feb half term 2008, at the beginning of the year and again got a free and a reduced child price.
The offers are out there, it's just a case of shopping around. I'm tempted to book early again, but we've no idea where we want to go!!

That's interesting seeing as we have a discussion running in the Complaints forum where the internet price advertised is now being questioned by the TO.

No it wasn't-it's first choice. I did ask could they come back to me later and hike the price, and I was told that they wouldn't. I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but I think they've been very fair as also a couple of weeks after booking I had an offer card come through saying if I booked now I could have free insurance, sitting together and meals. I rang about it and had about £70 knocked off the total for the meals and seating, which I had already booked (we didn't need the insurance)
So all in all I'm very happy with my booking early deal!
