I've been to Goa 3 times and never realised there are 2 prepaid taxi desks at the airport, one inside and one outside(curtesy of Lez).

You learn something new everyday thats why I enjoy this site so much. (I'm addicted to it ). I read it every day, several times some days.
Sad I know but hey, I'm happy. :o :o

I noticed both these desks this year.

I wondered if they are both 'controlled' desks or if the one inside is designed to 'take your money' before you get to the cheaper one.

Right in one.

The prepaid one outside is cheap too. We paid 530rs to get to Varca, which was quite a drive as well. Also, we didn't get one bit of hassle from getting off the plane to getting in a taxi. Weird.

I think what gave it away was the guy at the inside booth manically waving his arms about and shouting 'Taxi here, Taxi here'.

we had a similar experience, no hassle from the guys inside who take your cases off the conveyor or from the porters.

Going a bit :offtop , we didn't see any Timeshare touts in Candolim either.

try checking out skyscanner. Booked some flights for my dad and they were £9.10 each way from goa to mumbai inc taxes - bargainous!

Does anyone know if there are any scheduled flights beteween Goa and Agra?

Going in two weeks time, first time flying from Gatwick, first time to Goa.
I always take and bring back Golden Virginia tobacco.
Flying with Monach.
Is it better to buy at each airport? I have no information on what is available (duty free) with Monach airlines.

We bought GV locally when in candolim at christmas it worked out about £1.70 per 50g pouch.

We also bought an allowance at the bahrain stopover both ways and carried in our hand luggage.

I am not advocating that you attempt to defraud the tax man but you could distrubute some through your cases, if you feel inclined to take a chance

No. In fact there are no flights from anywhere to Agra, as it's a military airport and there are no civilian flights. Closest alternatives are Delhi and Jaipur.

Cheers Phil, thanks for that.

Just came through Dabolim this morning and paid $11 dollars a litre for Gordons Gin.

are the baggage boys  still about this time of year

The baggage handlers only seem to be around when charter flights come in... I flew scheduled this year, not one to be seen. I wonder why that is? Mmmm no gullible tourists on those flights maybe?

Hi Goonerfan, we had the same on our scheduled flight into Goa, not one baggage grabber! It does seem the charter flights are what they love. PS. unlucky with west ham, sorry mate, life long red scouse!! Tony

Dont risk Spice Jet we returned 22 March arrived at Dabolim 3p.m. for 5.30 flight to Mumbai, now here is a new thing the flight was preponned (quaint Indian word - opposite of postponned) It left 2.1/2 hours early without telling any of us. You can imagine the riot - but they cared not they hadn't booked us on any other flights so as you all know Dabolim closes flights at 6.p.m. All flights full so we all missed all our other flights. We had an Emirates at 03.30 from \mumbai to Dubai then on to glasgow. Spice jet refused to put anyone up in a hotel said all they would do was give us all a full refund - big deal. We had to travel club class next day to Mumbai with INDIAN AIRLINES. The only seats left £100.00 each then £75.00 each to Emirates to change tickets. Plus the cost of 2 lots of Taxis back and forward to calangute. We videoed the whole debacle. I would warn everybody some of these cheap airlines are a law to themselves. Better to travel with well known ones. Spice Jet had all our telephone numbers but have a policy not to dial uk numb ers!!!! Our cheap flight cost us another £370.00
 .
