Hmmmmm! I had lotsa chocolate! Well it was the end of lent! But I've still managed to lose a shocking 8lb this week :D:D:D
Can't believe it!
well done dramaqueen, to many eggs for me, I ain't lost anything this week. 7lbs to go in 6 weeks.
Well done dramaqueen, losing 8lbs is brilliant - what 'diet' are you following?
I have a query for anyone on SW. Yesterday I went 'over' on my syns reading the book todays it mentions 'flexible' syns but I don't understand what these are. I can ask at class tomorrow night but it has got me wondering?
Thanks Irene
Only the 1lb for me so still waiting for the 2 stone - should hit it this weekend - Pinot Grigio permitting as 2 big nights out this week!
Still 16 weeks to hols and 15lbs to go
Lally
And Ironically enough, I'm on slimming world! I used flexable syns yesterday on the chocolate eggs!
You follow the plan as you would that week, in preperation for an event (ie a party, easter, xmas etc) and you set yourself any number of syns (I don't bother setting syns I just enjoy it) and get right back on the plan the next day... I've found in the past it doesn't make much difference on your weight loss during the week...
Ah well, just 2 weeks to lose as much weight as possible for tunisia and 8 weeks to lose even more for the dominican republic!
Weigh in tonight not feeling good though!!!!
I am on the SW programme and a vegetarian and think I have made a large mistake.
Quorn is a free food but I am not really fussy on the Quorn mince (although I do like Quorn fillets and pieces). This week I have had chilli's, spag bol etc but am using Asda vegetarian mince for these. This is a blend of soya proteins so I am not sure as whether this is a 'free food' does anyone know?
Irene
Lent ended and I still haven't had any crisps so I'll just let those go by the wayside now that I'm so used to not eating them.
I feel very good and I'm sure the non alcohol will help.
Irene. If you go on the SW website, enter all your passwords etc there is a section called Syns Online. You input the manufacturers name and details of the product and it should come back with whether or not it is a free food or what the syn value is. HTH
As for flexible syns, I thought it was when you used syns from another day. For example, I have 15 syns per day. When I went out for the evening last week, I saved 10 syns from Wednesday and 10 from Thursday. Then on the Friday I had my usual 15 plus the 20 that I had saved making 45 syns. Does that make sense . I have had a pretty tough week and have been at the top end of my syns everyday. On Saturday, I had two slices of white bread (approximately 5 syns each) and instead of going over my syns on the Saturday (because I had a packet of french fries too ), I wrote 5 syns down for the Sunday leaving me with only 10 syns for that day. Bit of a flexible syn week I think
Dont think I am going to get to the class tonight (but not because I have had a bad week ). Have so much to do over the next couple of days to help my sister with the wedding which is on Saturday. But will be there next week and will work extra hard to make up for it.
everyone. Have a good week.
Sarah
Thanks for the prompt reply
Very interesting all the info on line - I have discovered that the Asda mince is 2 syns per 100g so that not bad Although I was treating it as a free food
Silly me I thought flexible syns was something I couldn't find in the book.
So if you don't use your daily allowance of syns you carry them over if needed I was doing this as I had a few small glasses of wine each night over the weekend
My consultant I think suggested 10 per day - I wonder why there is a suggested allowance of 5 - 15 probably depending on how much weight you want to shed - I am hoping for 2 stone!!!!!
Keep smiling Sarah
Irene
Just found some info on flexi syns on the SW web page and think I have mis understoo. It mentions when you are planning a night out and you look at your daily intake
Will check out with consultant tonight.
Irene
I think that the amount of syns you are given depend on your size rather than how much weight you want to loose . I don't use all my syns everyday and I certainly wouldn't carry over any extra syns to the next day on a regular basis unless I was going out or had been naughtier than usual . Today I have only used one syn so far and probably will only use another 2 with my dinner tonight. Yesterday I only used 5 all day, but previous to that, I was using all 15 and more on one day. I think it just allows you to treat yourself without the guilt and to be flexible at the same time.
I had a try on of my summer and holiday clothes last night. What a difference a stone lighter makes :). I could fit into outfits that I haven't been able to get into for about 2 years. I even put a bikini on that I never thought I would wear again. I was so pleased and it has given me the incentive to carry on . I may even have to buy a whole new holiday wardrobe if I carry on as well as I have been which is even more incentive to carry on.
tonight. I think I am going to get weighed afterall so I will check back.
Sarah
I lost a 1lb - still feeling chuffed realised it was the syns that did for me.
I must get it into my head that I use them if I need them not that I have got say 10 - 15 syns and use them anyway!!!!
Bought the SW green recipe book and the magazine - good bedtime reading LOL
Hope you did ok this week.
Thanks for all your input.
Irene
Can I ask is there any particular reason why they are spelt 'syns'?
SandC - I dont know why they are called "syns". Probably something to do with copyright :). As for alcohol, apart from my sister's hen night 2 weeks ago (when I did indulge greatly), I haven't had a "proper" alcoholic drink for 7 weeks and yes, I do feel good about that. Especially considering that before I started this diet, I couldn't seem to get through the weekend without one or two . Spirits are much better than say beer, lager or wine so thats what I shall be sticking to when I drink from now on.
all.
Sarah
Well done to you.
Going to limit my syns to 60 per week as suggested by consultant. I have got into the 'habit' of having a glass of wine with my evening meal - very continental so going to use my syns for this. Chocolate doesn't bother me really - except for PMT time
Going to make the Chick Pea Curry tonight it went down very well last week.
Irene
PS know what you mean about the added incentive regarding summer clothes hoping I am in your situation soon.
id come to a bit of a stand still over the last few weeks, but spent all of easter decorating and this week ive lost 2 lb so its kick started the weight loss moving again, think the key for me now is to do more exercise, thats 18 lb now , long way still to go, but today ive noticed for the first time that some of my clothes are too big so thats a good sign
I have just been to Asda and stocked up on loads of fruit, veg etc and also bought loads of spices/herbs etc as I have so many recipes to try from the SW vegetarian cookery book. Made the vegetable soup yesterday - tasted wonderful.
I also need to input some exercise into my healthy living plan, probably start with power walking after work next week - must admit I have been really lazy in the 2 weeks that I have been off
Have a lovely weekend.

Just bought a new pair of jeans in a size 10, I can't believe it Only lost a pound this week so 6 more to go in 5 weeks. Good luck everyone for your weigh ins
Slimming world used to spell them Sins, but a main competitor (i'm sure you know who I mean) advertised that "no food is a sin" Slimming World threatened legal action and changed it after that, not sure if it's related!
Wow, Cazz - size 10 jeans - bet you feel great.
I bought a size 14 dress but it was too big, the 12's a bit neat but I'll be in it for the summer hols.
