Hi Dazbo5

We have a flght booked for Varadero - Cuba 24th June from East midlands.
The thing is, when i do a search for their summer flight destination schedule, Varadero doesn't show on their website :bhead

Can you check to see if there is flight to Varadero from East midlands? :bow

notin2005,

I can confirm that from Sunday 13th May, there is a flight from EMA - VRA operated by FCA. The flight operates every 2 weeks.

It actually operates BRS - EMA - VRA - BRS - EMA

So there will be people on it when you get on at East Midlands, and there will be a stop inbound at Bristol.

Hi, sorry if his has been discussed recently......2 ad 2 ch travelling to turkey with first choice in premier seats and our tickets give us 23kgs per person. As we normally take 3 cases between us (2 clothes 1 toiletries etc! ), can anyone confirm if the total weight for a case at LGW is still 33kgs ...........or would we be better off taking a case each........thanks.

Also if anyone knows what films are showing this month my son would aprreciate it.

tracytreacle1,

As of 1st May, FCA policy is cases are to weight no more than 23kg. It's all on their website, click here.

thanks Darren...........does this mean we could in theory take as many suitcases we wanted as long as we did not exceed our luggage allowance and no single case weighed more than 23kgs...or are we only allowed one case each.........

tracytreacle1,

I was in your position when I went to Mexico with them in March since I'd booked an extra 10kg of luggage allowance to take my diving equipment, ie 30kg. Luckily, the new regulations didn't come in to force until 1st May so I was ok. When I asked them, they just said 23kg per suitcase maximum, but only after 1st May. Since I had 30kg, I asked about the extra 7kg and they just said take an extra bag / suitcase. Bear in mind, this was with pre-booked extra allowance. In your case, I would assume you're allowed 4x 23kg suitcases for your party. If in doubt, there's a 'contact us' page on the link I posted before so better to ask and make sure.

HI,
I always think its a shame that there isnt a feedback review section for the flight part of holidays, after all your holiday begins at the airport and ends back there too.
We have just returned from holiday and have done reveiws of the hotel but as i used this forum so much for flight info before we went we thought it would be nice and prehaps even useful to leave some feedback!
As we are from the N.E of Scotland but were flying from manchester we flew BMIBaby from ABDN to MAN the day before departure to Cuba. We hoped to do day before check-in to save taking our luggage to the hotel and back plus to save time in the morning. Arrived at terminal 2 but all desks were closed. There was a sign saying for day before check-in please call... so we did! Someone was with us to check us in within 2 mins, great!
Next morning only needed to be at the airport 45mins before boarding which was great!
Our outgoing flight was on board G-OOAN (thanks to dazbo for turning me into a plane spotter!). We had paid to upgrade but wondered if it would be worth it after reading so many great reports for the star class section. However we we called for boarding very quickly and were seated and enjoying a glass of sparkly and a bowl of fresh fruit salad before take-off. Im not really a plane spotter! so dont know anything much about the runways and technical stuff, but anyway we had a smooth take-off and soon settled in to watch some movies, the choice of films and tv/radio was fab and we really enjoyed being able to pause the films at any time to go to the toilet etc. Our meal was really nice, the best ive ever had on a plane (and better than some holiday hotels too!) Drinks services were infrequent but if you just popped up to the front and asked one of the cabin crew they were more than helpful. Had heard about troubles with armrest tables and how they were always collapsing etc but we had no problems and nor did anyone else as far as im aware.
The flight was really comfortable and the extra leg room was really great. I have to say that throughout the whole flight the cabin crew worked their socks off and ALWAYS had a smile on their faces.
I thought our descent and landing were awful but im not a great flyer so who knows! We landed 20mins ahead of schedule aswell.
Our return journey was exactly the same but in reverse! Came home aboard G-OOBK, departed early and landed well ahead of schedule. All round a great experience. Highly recommend First Choice and the Star class premier service, so much so have only been home 10 days and have already booked the next holiday with them.
Hope that is interesting or useful to everyone, any questions? Just ask!
Katie.

Thanks for your report, Katie. This is the most appropriate forum for such feedback, as anyone looking for info on First Choice Airlines would most likely browse through this thread. By posting here, it also allows members to ask you any specific questions related to your FCA experience.

Thanks again

We are driving to Manchester from Dunfermline going to Hoguin and hoped we could check in the night before :D
Do you need to premier thingy to do this?

Macca,
I believe that star class passengers can check-in the day before also but i think it needs to be paid for (not much £5 i think) well worth it anyway. Just what you need after a long drive! Gets the holiday off to an early start aswell!
Not sure if im right with the cost though, best to phone the 'toppings' help line.

Hi Katie,

Nice trip report and great to see the rego's :rofl What dates did you travel? Wasn't Saturday 21st April was it, FCA162 to Holguin returning 5th May? I photographed G-OOAN departing on the 21st and G-OOBK returning on 5th May. When you say the descent and landing was awful, was it windy at the time? The pilots would have done everything they could for a smooth descent and landing but there are infinate numbers of reasons why it might not have been. They may have got a late descent clearance or it could be weather releated etc. Is that the first time you've flown on a 767? One thing you will notice with the 767 is they are generally a lot harder on landing than similar sized aircraft, eg Airbus A330. I've yet to work out why and have asked around but no one can come up with a definitive answer. Part of the reason may be the way the main landing gear bogies are arranged, they are the oposite way round than on most aircraft for fitting in to the wheel wells, but thats just a guess. They also tend to put them down solidly so they can anchor on the brakes. I've yet to travel on aboard a 767, regardless of series and experience a smooth landing. Nothing against the pilots, they do a great job, its just an observation.
