We'll be thinking about absent friends when we arrive on Thursday.......and toasting a vinho tinto for me and a caneca of sagres for hubby!!!!!!!!!!
Wot......do I see green eyes, Sagres?????
Pat
I might become a bit boring and start doing one of those coundowns we have on the Turkey and Egypt forums, but I wouldn't want to upset Sagres.
Oh ! Did I mention it was 57 sleeps to go?
you bloody start !!!
Don't
Well I've just got back....cracking weather and and the cheapo apartments we had for the week were OK as well. Got to go around a couple of hotels though where friends were staying...never stayed in a hotel in the Algarve and looking at the two I saw don't think I'll bother...stick to the apartments.
I hope I get a view like that from the Marina Club apartments Glynis
Not sure Doe as never been in the Marina Club have you rented it privately? Doesn't the picture show your view or mention it?
As you face the entrance to the Marina Club with the car park behind you we are on your immediate left. That's our entrance with the bedrooms overlooking car park area. If you then walk through the gap between our and your buildings you come to part of the Marina with a few restaurants, our patio area faces this bit, we are on the 2nd floor.
My son wants to stay at the Marina Club as he went for a nosy round, and thinks it's 'posh'
Don't know if you've seen the Marina Club website but here it is - looks like you pay extra for Marina view:- http://www.marinaclub.pt/
LOL to posh! We will soon be there to 'lower the tone'.
I have paid extra for a pool view, as the few reviews I found said that the sea view was in effect a car park view with the sea somewhat in the distance. I have used http://www.wintersunshineholidays.com. This is unchartered territory for me as I normally go on packages but couldn't find this accommodation on a package.
Doe
Can't resist saying that it's only 3 big sleeps now........got to start looking out the clothes etc, etc......
Doe I would imagine the sea view would be in the distance over the car park. However looking at the pictures on TA the pool view looks as though you get a view of the Marina also.
Doe I found this on Expedia:-
Driving directions: From the airport, exit Faro on the A22 motorway in the direction of Portimao/Sagres. Drive for approximately 80 kilometres and exit at Lagos Este Odiaxere. Follow the national road (N125) in the direction of Odiaxeree/Lagos for 7 kilometres. Entering Lagos at the first traffic lights, turn back and follow directions to Marina/Meia Praia/Marina de Lagos/Marina Club.
You'll almost certainly get at least a side,if not frontal, view of the Marina;the higher your floor in the hotel, the better the view as the front of the Marina Club's pool complex has restaurants and the Marina sales office in front of it and the higher you are,the more you'll be able to see over them.
I think I have paid about an extra 100 for the pool view so I'm hoping it's worth it and will email a week before going to request a high floor (and also remind them we are coming just in case ).
Does anyone know where the best value supermarket is as I think we get a fridge freezer which I would like to fill at the begining of the holiday with a large variety of liquid refreshments? Would it be on the way in to Lagos en route from the airport, or is that a job for the second day?
Doe
Pingo Doce supermarket as you enter the town and again, from the other side, after you've re-crossed the bridge. It's about a three minute walk from your apartment.
Quick tip : Don't go near the wine aisle on your first visit - you won't be able to resist the prices and you'll be legless before you've had chance to see the town !!

Three minute walk from my apartment. It sounds like this place was made for me.
If you go down the wine aisle, it'll be three and a quarter hours back !!
Only one big sleep left, then off tomorrow morning to the airport for midday
Have a great time Pat Take your Milk thistle tablets with you
You must be psychic, Glynis, I started taking them again a couple of weeks ago!!!
well you had better not drink all the you know what
Enjoy your trip,Pat. Don't worry about me - I'll just get on with the painting.
Have a brilliant holiday Pat
Thanks for all your good wishes.......still worried about the forecast, though but what the heck.........
Sagres, we won't worry about you at all.......in fact, you'll be in our thoughts every time we order a pint of you-know-what
Pat
