Suebar, the beach was better than expected, but we never saw many people down there. My daughter went with the kid club to do beach games and she said the sand was a bit gravely and you were not aloud to dig very deep. There were sun loungers availble and there were boards up around the hotel offering speed boat hire, banana boats etc.

Gillg, The games room I am refering to is on the Palace side. It is in a good postion just outside the main restaurant so if the children were finished the evening meal before us they would go to the games room and we would meet them there. There is also a bar just upstairs from it so you can sit and have a drink there and keep popping doen to keep an eye on the them.

Thanks Laudan - appreciate the reply. How did you find the ampitheatre Was there anywhere decent to sit to watch the evenings entertainment? By the way I've noticed a few comments about what currency is best to take - how did you find it - apart from the odd trip we will probably just need money for booking the kids in to any payable clubs and the games machines etc.

We personally did not like the ampitheatre, the first night we sat in doors as it was raining. the next night in the ampitheatre and the next night there is stairs to a raised platform that over looks the ampitheatre where there is a few tables and chairs and we sat there. We felt there was no atmosphere and there was not many people there. After the first 2 nights we had loads of mozzie bites so we just sat in doors. The pool bar had entertainment, quizes and singers, and you sit there on tables and we thought it had more atmosphere.
We took mostly English money and a bit lira we had left off last year. All the shops, games room, kids club take english and lira. We did change some english for lira at reception but you dont get a very good exchange rate and people were complaining that they rounded the amount down and just gave you notes.

Thanks again Laudan. Thats a pity about the ampitheatre - we have been to other holiday villages and it was nice to be able to sit in the entertainment area each evening and have a chat and a drink but still be able to watch the shows etc. Looks like its the pool bar for us also (you say you sat in doors - was this at the pool bar or somewhere else - I'm conscious of the problem with the mozzies which seem to be more prevalent during the evenings) Really appreciate all your responses.

Pool bar outside, we sat in reception bar which was inside just above the games room. My daughter who is 9 went to the kids club most nights 9-11 and my son who was 12 just went around complex with his new friends. We found it very safe for them to go places by themselves as long as we knew where they were.

Hi Suebar-I haven't flown with them before but like Scottishmum said, I read the posts and reviews on here. It seems to be okay now. My work colleague went to PP last year with Onur Air and she said it was fine, on time, seats were good and the food was alright, but she recommended I take something for littleun who is fussy. You dont pay for meals so I suppose can't complain. Also free soft drinks but no movies or anything. I never watch them anyway, usually a book and MP3.Bit naughty of FC to say they were terrible as they charter them! :?

Jackie-we probably be on same bus from airport, if not see you at checkin :D I think I can guess which team now, so I'll look out for you.I dont have any preference either re football, I'm a rugby girl me. :yipee I got two girls, so possibly wearing pink! for a change with something Disney Princess or Bratz on them.

Laudan, thanks for info re the beach , I love the beach and the sound of the sea but me thinks I will be by the pool with the girls most of the time. But hoping to sneak off for an hour on my own with my book when they go to kids club or something. I'm quite disappointed by the sounds of the ampitheatre, I love sitting watching all the cheesy shows that get so much better depending on how much vodka you have had!!. :hmmm

Cheers

HI we stayed in rooms 5026/27/28/& 5012 all had a pool outside. these are only deep pools so no good for children that can't swim but great for a dip first thing or at the end of the day.

beach was fine. there are sun beds out that for everyone to use.
water sports are there, we used the water skies & banna boat but there was more if you wanted & not to expensive.

you can go for a walk on the beach & the sights are amazing.

we weren't to keen on the night time entertanment but the kids loved it, they do a childrens disco 8.30-9.30 & by then the little ones were ready for bed.
we liked to have a walk round & a few drinks & a chat & then bed.

kids clubs were pre-booked before we got there so we hadn't planned on using them but by the second week it was just a case of turn up 10mins before hand & we got 3 in no problem.
for giving the little ones some time out the sun they were brillant.

we are looking to go to the red sea next Oct or even back to Turkey in July.

if anyone would like to see some photo's please email me & i'd happily send you some.

We flew with onur air last year to PP and they were fine. Only problem was that it was just after the rules came out about taking no liquids on board and they did not have enough water. It was very warm come the end of the flight and I had to practically BEG them to give me some more water before I passed out. All the soft drinks were free and the food was traditional turkish cold pasta salad with olives etc so the kids weren't well catered for. Staff spoke enough English to get by.

I'm a cornish girl (now living over the border in Devon) so I'm going to bake pasties to take with us this time :D (only 9 to make!)

As regards to the beach, the one by the hotel is not very inspiring but the main village beach is very nice apparently. We'll be heading there to take a look this year.

I agree about the amphitheatre lacking in atmosphere - although we tended to sit in the back row so we had something to lean back against and most nights we were sat around the same people who we had a real laugh with. Perhaps we july-travellers need to meet up to make our own party

Gillg---- we were at pp last august going again this august, we found the entertainment at the ampitheatre to be good usual stuff kids entertainment bingo then main shows some good audience ones as well,
i think it is down to peoples own choices i only found two problems last year was the mozzies, they seems to be here than any other place probaly the lights caused this maybe and parents letting there kids jump on of the bences and on last night one of the kids fell off while jumping and hert himself from them entertainment team were telling parents kids not to do it, but with this in mind a lot of parents were ignoring bad behavour of there children and letting get on with it while getting drunk, there was a couple of occassions were security guards were telling of the kids(teens), which did stop them.

When we was at P/P last august my two daughters didn't seem to get bitten much due to them not sitting around , i got bitten a few times used the stuff they sell in the shops there it works but doesn't smell nice will be taking a bite freeze spray that boots sell to stop itching.

with reference to braiding i sure we saw someone doing the braiding by the ampertheatre don't know if they will be in the same place this year.

Hi all, feel happier about Onur air now. Think I will take the plunge and book tomorrow from Cardiff. Just one question - are the planes fairly new, i.e. nice Airbus or a lot older and noisier! Anyone know? Thanks. Sue

Thanks Briar, but unfortunately nobody has answered my question on that forum. The reason for asking this is because First Choice use Onur Airways from Cardiff for PP holidays so I thought it was relevant for this forum.

Anyone - Booking Kids Den for 9th July 2007 (2 weeks) but eldest is a bit big for bunk beds and nothing else available. Is there anyone out there with younger children going same time who would like to swop for a twin or family room for 4?

Its gone really quiet on here lately most people who have yet to visit HV but not many recent reports from people who've just returned.

Could anyone recently returning please post with regard to recent topics like kids club booking in and the new set up as to what you can and cant use at the Tropical side and just a bit of info as to what you thought of the hotel now its been open for a few weeks

Thanks

You can use the pools and facalities aside from the bars and resturants at the Tropical.

Not that many people bothered, only older couples from HV would enter the Tropical for some peace and a few stray kids would try and invade the rifle shooting.
