Hi there. You should be ok if you are there 15th october. We stayed at the Capo Bay from 23 October to 6 November and the hotel entertainment shut down on 31 October! Also, a lot of restaurants and bars and shops shut on 31 october as well, but if you are there earlier, then you should be ok.
I can recommend Nicolas Taverna for a great Cypriot meal.
many thanks to you all for that...think we will go for it...may turn into a good 'extra'holiday for us all................will make a change from usual majorca, and may lead to us going there more regularly, as we have heard many many good reports about the place.
Hi we are going to napa 14 oct same as last year, We had 2 heavy rain storms last year for about 1 hour then it was fine, Weather is hot daytime but you will need your arms covered in the evenings (But not that cold). Most things and places close down when the clocks go back, Hope this will help, Brian
We have also been at half term in October about 4 times and never had bad weather, although windy at times. Only downside is the days are quite short in October, but you would get that anywhere in Europe. The only time things started to close down around us was when half term ran into November one year. Your children would probably love the excellent water park in Ayia Napa, it is still open when you go, I believe.
hi , im going back to protaras this year from the 8th to the 22nd of october. i have no worries about the weather at all as i was there last year.certainly i found the weather far more reliable than tenerife where you tend to get a fair few cloudy days. like bellavista says the waterpark at ayia napa is a must and you don't have any big queues to worry about. you also have room to swing a cat on the beach and i think more efficient service at restaurants, bars etc. have a great time
We have never experienced poor weather, have been able to sunbathe every day - usually clouds over at about 5 though.
Evenings can be a bit cooler, but I have never taken a jacket.

many thanks to you all...took the plunge and booked for protaras (vangelis appts) on 15th october, for one week. looking forward to it, as seem good reports . first time in cyprus, and hope we enjoy it half as much as everyone seems to...............wife likes elvis, so seems appropriate resort.!
I'm so glad you booked it
You will all love it and want to go back. Once to Cyprus is never enough

I am going to Cyprus on 1st October for two weeks and have been worrying about the weather since I booked last July! After reading all your replies I am now feeling more happy that it will still be nice and warm
lea28 - I am also going on October 1 this year, although only for a week this time. You really don't need to worry about the weather - it will be lovely then. Just look forward to your trip.
wifelikes elvis, so even better..lol
Off to Protaras in early Sept for the first time (although I've done Paphos many times)
Just wondering if any one knew of any Irish bars out in the resort and if they're any good? I like a nice cold Keo but apart from that I don't really drink lagers etc so Magners/Guinness/Murphys/Caffreys/Killkenny and anything Irish is more up my street.
Also on a side note is anyone aware of whether or not the Irish bars have big screens? Reading's first every Premiership game on the box is on when i'm away
Shenanighans is an irish run restaurant that does loevly food, i can imagine they do irish beers too
One of the best Irish bars in Cyprus has to be Paddy's in Ayia Napa it's worth a taxi ride to watch the game as they have two large screens, live bands most nights, and all the staff are Irish
Thanks Meerkat am really looking forward now as I haven't been to Cyprus in over 10 years
I know that Shenanighans sells Guinness as I've had a few pints in there myself and I did notice alot of places selling Magners last year.
Just thought of another Irish bar - Finnegans Forest, they sell Guinness,Caffreys,Kilkeny and Magners.
hi shoestring, your wife will be made up if she likes elvis, he's everywhere in the resort have you retired from detective work now trev? its great to hear there are lots of forum members going in october too. i need lots of sympathetic support for my karoake performances in the zodiac karoake bar. hope this doesn't put you off going
thanks for all your info
I'm off to Protaras 23rd September for a week.
I've already had my 2 week trip so this is just a little extra but still cant wait as I love Cyprus so much.
