enjoy your holiday, try the brazilian resturant half way down the main drag set back on the sea side of the road. very good very cheap.
also cheers cafe/bar good food ,low prices, low noise.
We'll be staying at The Louis Ayios Elias village.
They get bored easily sat in normal pubs/restaurants, so if there is anywhere with entertainment or play areas that would be great
The Ayios Elias village is about a 10 minute walk to the main strip. Many of the bars along the strip serve English breakfast. I may be a bit bias as i work there, but the zodiac bar do a very nice full english breakfast at a reasonable price! It is about half way down the strip on the left. As for entertainment, almost all the bars have something on each night. Many have karaoke which the kids can have a go at and lots of other places have tribute acts or some kind of show. I also think your hotel has entertainment, but to be honest i'm not sure how good that would be. I lived next to ayios elias last year so any other questions fire away!
can i get a pint of draught bitter in protaras????
I do have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering.
Before we go away, I always email the hotel to request one of the best positined rooms.
Would you know where the apartments are that are facing the sea ? I know it would be a distant view, but it would stillbe nice.
Another one is do you think it is worth hiring a car to get back up the hill ?
(Is it that bad )
So I Googled...

I *think* you can, there are pictures
...and there are some good savings to be had going DIY - check the prices (per apt, not each) at the bottom of that page.
The hill? I wouldn't bother hiring a car just to get up the hill. Its a good one, (phew!) but check it out first and then hire a car if you are struggling.
Ady
Worth a look.
Most of the people posting on there either live or have a holiday home in the area.

Alex, i'm afraid i can't really help with the sea view question, you would probably need to ring ask the hotel. There will definitely be some of the apartments with a sea view but it will be a distant one! As for hiring a car, i really don't think it would be worth it just to get up and down the hill. If you are feeling lazy (as i often was) you can get a taxi for £4 Cyp.
LesB, yes you can mate . Nearest to Ayios Elias is probably Woodys, which is almost immediately opposite after you come down the hill.
When we stayed in Protaras last year, we found that the Cheers bar did very nice Breakfasts....... and at a reasonable price. I think it was £2.00cyp for a cooked breakfast
how far is woodys from the brilliant appartments
couldnt spend another fortnight without a pint of bitter
Its just down the road, same side, as you are heading in the direction of Cape Greco.
We went to majorca on the same date a few years ago and it was really quite. Not much atmosphere and not everything was open
Alex.........May's my favourite month to visit second only to September, the weather is nice without being too hot and everything should be open by the 16th.......Ayia Napa is just getting busy too and probably a good month to experience it before it gets mad in July & August
Alex - I went in May 2006 and it was great - weather was lovely and everything open. Quite busy but not hectic, and the good bars were packed!
About the weather, i have been there may 2004,2005, Protaras is great in may . Its a lively also in may ,but not like mid-summer.
I normally have my main summer holiday in June but have been in May before and it was in the 80's and pretty busy.
To be more specific, Cyprus is great at any time of the year!
