We wont move back permanently as our girls are going to school in the Uk but I hope that we will buy a second home there someday.
My husband is Turkish so we still go back a lot. This year we aer only going once though, in August and we are staying in Gumbet probably as that is where we used to live.

I know how you feel.
Can't keep my mind off going to Turkey..already planning next visit.
Intend to visit a different part of Turkey every year from now on.
Sometimes not knowing much about a place can make it even more of an adventure.
I would love to live in Turkey and so would my husband..but the thought of leaving my family is too much.
So i'll settle for my once a year fix.
Hope you have a great hol.
well im jealous of you all lol wish i was coming to turkey too lol-only for a hol mind you, ive lived there twice now for 2 seasons with my turkish hubby and altho its lovely, its hard goin and basically living on fresh air, nothing at all like when your on holiday obviously lol! as it is me n hubby have applied for a visa for him to settle here in the uk with me, so fingers crossed! only when we are older and financially stable will we think about returning to turkey to live! as much as i enjoy holidaying there living there is so different, culture shock lol! hard to live on one wage and not being able to buy anything really and hardly spending time together cos hes always at work, its a hard life, hats off to those who do it cos personally i cant!i remember last year when people founf out i was living there, they were jealous lol i was like dont be, i cant do anywere or do anything cos we cant afford it lol and when i worked i worked for 20 lira a day, i was like beleive me you aint missing out anyway im rambling lol!take care and have fun everyone, send me some xxx
We've sat and drank with locals many times and they've said how hard it is.
There just isn't the money.
It's a pipe dream for most.
Like you said you just wouldn't see much of one another as you'd be so busy making ends meet.
So here's to winning the lottery instead then money ..no problem.
I'll send you some sunshine.
it's the most interesting part of holidays... planning a next visit, every time different part. Meeting locals, talk to them... I made a reservation in Apart hotel which doesn't have a WEB address, also doesn't have email, just telephone number on the list. And I learn some Turkish words and I was able to talk with someone and she understood me. .... It's much fun and few steps towards other culture.
Holidays.... for me it must be coastline. I sow many photographs from inner side of Turkey and it's beautiful, more then that.. but when I was small we used to go to Croatian coast. It was the time of Yugoslavia then, we were part of it (Slovenia). And deep inside me it's still a sense which points to the coast.
Thanks for wishing me great hol (hope my kids won't be ill, like they are at the moment, every few days ;
I wish you and your family fabulous time in Turkey
aam,
it's clear to me that life in Turkey isn't easy, I sow how hard must people work for few hundreds of euro per month. Have to tell you it's the same here in Slovenia. When they told me about standard in Istambul, honestly it's higher then here. Avarage wage is about 1400 euro, but 80% of working class get 600€ but anyway life seems to me much easier in Turkey, people look more connected, more familiar. I guess the impression which always get when not at home.
Wish your dreams come true
I loved some of the times I lived in Turkey and other times I wished I was back home. The winters are hard when there is no work and it rains all the time but at least my husband had time to spend with me and our baby. Summers were lovely but he was working 7 days a week 16 hours a day so it was a bit lonely too, I did miss my family lots.
I'm off to Oludeniz on 8th June for a weel...11 more sleeps!!!
I am staying at The Mellis Hill hotel, no review on here, but sounds okay...I will be travelling alone, but have been advised that it is perfectly safe to do so... would you agree?
I am very excited!
Anyone else in that area at that time?

andreja-interesting to read the comparisons you wrote........your right of course, there are many poorer countries, not just turkey and many people live a hard life.........my hubby worked some days last year for 20 lira a day-about £8.......this year he is working for 700 lira............as you say though, its nice planning and preparing for your holiday, something to look forward to when you are working all year round etc, nice to get a break isnt it :-)
kedi-yes your right, as much as its hard being there, i was lonely and found it bit isolating last year (didnt make many friends as teh ones i did meet wanted to go out every night, obvioulsy i couldnt afford to do this too much.....!) but like you say you do miss it, since 5 may this year i kept thinking 'this time last year i was there' and of course i have some fond memories and its nice being there in the sun n with your pther half but realistically hard way to live........im just hoping my hubby gets his visa so we can settle here and try to build a 'normal' life-insallah
take care everyone x
Has he applied for his visa yet aam?
hey kedi, he goes on wed at 9am to izmir vac to submit everything so heres hoping!its a bloody nightmare putting togetehr all the evidence n stuff thats him just off msn again after having to check more info lol! fingers crossed, want and need this so badly xxx
I remember trying to get everything together, it is a bit of a nightmare. I think it has all changed since my husband applied, we just sent everything straight to Ankara in the post and he got his visa back a week later. Good luck :gluck, I hope it all goes as easy for you husband.
