All, returning to cyprus this year to same hotel, so I have emailed them requesting the same room as last year (due to the fact we got married from the hotel last year and returning this year for our first anniversary).
I have had a reply saying, They have a better room for me, my question is do I take this as gospel or am I just going to be allocated any room ?, have anyone had experiences of this and if so should I email them again and question it or wait til I get there, we fly out on the 4th June.
thanks gail
What's the hotel Gail? Maybe someone on here (or Cyprus forum) will know the room numbers? Or maybe they are offering to upgrade you due to you honeymooning there?
hi glynis, I was just wondering if they do stand by their word, because Im not the type of person, who would push the matter when Im out there !!!!
Gail.............knowing the Cyprus Hoteliers as I do having dealt with them for so many years I would take the hotel at their word. They'll genuinly want to look after you especially as your a returning guest
Hi sapphire,
In 99% of cases they say 7 days is sufficient any sooner and it's likely to get missed.
maybe I will email them again on monday and remind them of their offer.
Gail - I think that Tsokkos are really good with requests and I wouldn't worry. Last year we got confirmation that we would get the same rooms at the Odessa which we had the year before, and found a bottle of wine and basket of fruit in each room as we were returning guests. They also waived our drinks bill at dinner on the last night. They treat returning guests very well in my opinion!
Thanks, Meerkat, Do you think I should email them about a week before I go.?
Hi Gail - no harm in a gentle reminder in advance - I had a quick reply to my email and I'm sure you will get a lovely room. I don't think you will be seen as being a pest - you want this to be as special as possible after all, and they are very accommodating in my experience. Hope you have a wonderful time - I've been back from Protaras less than 2 weeks and wish I was back there. It was pelting down here a little while ago!! Pat
The reply from my email thats all I was waiting for, Then when they said they had a better room, it have simply thrown me
If I have the same room , that would be great, and if we have a better room , that will be a bonus.
I will email them on monday, and see !!!
Im sure we will have a great holiday, no matter what room we have.
thanks again for all your help.
gail
so I have emailed them requesting the same room as last year
Hello Gail. (Just recieved your PM). Yes, I have always been succesful when contacting Hotels via Email and requesting a certain room. I find it helps if you can quote the Room Number in Question and if you make an effort to include a translation of your email into the language of the country you are staying in I always find that goes a long way.
Hoteliers also tend to treat 'Returning Guests' very well as they will want you to keep coming back. You are a good advert for thier business. As for the Hotel advising you that they have a "better room"......well I cannot really comment on that because I have never personally experienced this myself, but if it were me, I would take a gamble and accept it. I've only ever been to Cyprus once but I found the Cypriots (The Greek Cypriots as that was the side I stayed) very helpful and polite charming people. I'd personally take a gamble and accept the "better room".
I would advise you to send an email with your request say, four days before depature and that way your email is not likely to be overlooked and the Hotel Staff can start to look at dealing with your request. Remind them *gentley* in your email that you had your Honeymoon in their Hotel and it was a Special Occasion etc etc and you are hoping to relive the experience for your first Anniversary etc etc. I would be surprised if they don't leave you a small bottle of Champers in your room.
But as I say, I have always been allocfated a room on the floor I have requested, and in the same part of the building that I requested (ie sea view, pool view, shade etc).....Its much better to do this yourself than to rely on the Travel Agent or the Tour Operator to do this for you. When you are asked in the Travel Agency for any particular requests and they note it down, sometimes these requests are not past onto the Hotel.
Anyway, Good Luck......I'm sure you will get what you want.
Gail, if you feel like it I'd go with whatever the hotel offer you. Hardly
likely to offer you a 'better' room and then let you down. However I'm sure you have some er...romantic attachments to the room you spent your honeymoon in, so if that's where you want to stop then ask for that particular room !! Either way have a great time
Thanks Gary and Boothers,. Im emailing them on Sunday and remind them of their previous email, and see how it goes.
