Flambe in Candolim gets my vote. Great food, great prices, great service AND GREAT PRICES!!!

i agree with dragon 07. i've been to all of these restaurants and found them all to be really good. friendly atmosphere. good food. pleasant company and plenty of booze. what more could you want ?

Only thing is I might bump into Chilly and she might force me into drinking too many coffees

i have to ask what makes soueyemans so good,i have never come across a restaurant that get such amazing reviews,have already decided that`s the one for our first night

Its not the nicest setting, although nice enough, but the food is exquisite. One of the best restaurants in Goa. You wont be disappointed

I don't have a problem with the setting, although I know some people prefer After 7 and I can see perhaps why. Although we did find that as the seating at After 7 is mainly on the lawn when we went in December there were a lot more mossies at After 7. Souymens is in comparison not so pretty, with a corrugated roofing and flag stoned paving. The roofing we found to be good in March last year when there was the threat of the odd shower or too, at least there was some shelter. You also get to watch the little lizards at the top of the roof supporting columns!

The food is excellent. It is continental rather than Goan, with the best fillet steak you will get whilst over there. The presentation is lovely, the waiting staff are extremely well trained and watch for your every need. Souymen always comes around and speaks with all of his guests, he is not overbearing but very interested to know what you think of your food. He also has some very good wines.

Souymens is my choice for my first and last meal in Goa, I'm just sorry that I have to wait until December before going again.

we did look at the menu but we didn't fancy it as we wanted to eat Indian dishes. I can understand why you might want to go if you are a longstayer or if you are near to the end of your holiday and curried out.

absolutely agree Fiona, great if you fancy some english... we ate at the carvery tonight again, (indian) and excellent and cheap food as always

Has anyone tried Garam Masala on the Candolim - Calangute Road , it looks a pretty little place, just wondered if anyone has tried it?

Went to Garam Masala in Feb 2008, and it was excellent.

Had Lobster and whole Kingfish cooked in the Tandor - superb and fantastic value.

martins kingfish curry at francisco's shack on candolim beach was the best curry i had all holiday.(dec1st-15th2008).left at end of beach road,about 4th or 5th shack along. i'm very much a foody,and quite critical.not the most enticing shack on the beach,but that guy can cook.he's worked in a top hotel in dubai. his dressed crab is awesome....and if you do catch any of your own fish,they'll happily cook 'em up on the barbi in front of you.these guys will be getting my business again next week. get them to arrange your fishing trip.

Just after Barista and before the kink in the road, you turn left . There's a sign at the top and he employs a young lad with a lamp to guide people down the road.)

Riverside, great food and great value, just over Nerul bridge on the left.
Amigo's just under Nerul Bridge, fantastic fresh fish and great egg and chips yes egg and chips in India it's good for a change.
Bhatti bar(number is 9822184103) at crossroads in the village turn left and follow the road it is on the left, be there by 7.00 to 7.30 or no seats.
P O S H ***after seven's sister restaurant over bridge and first right, a must to try.
Florentines in Saligao, brilliant food always packed with locals and local prices. - a few miles from Candolim. This is the place to try chicken cafreal.
Alcove beach resort at Little Vagator - good food - absolutely stunning setting for your lunch - great day out, you can use the facilities, pool etc and also walk down to the beach.
Tibet is on the Calangute Beach steps Road next to the Parade ground/football ground that is now a coach park. Opposite Sunflowers hotel.

florentines leave calangute via st alexes church the large white one that stands back from the road at the rounabout in front of the church take the right junction that heads towards saligao/panji go past the junction on the right that says police station and at the end of thehalf kilometer straight stretch right on the bend you will see a large pink sign on the left says florentines go up the three metre wide track around two ninety degree bends its there

Not really a restaurant - but .... when we were in Candolim in December, fellow guests said they had been to a' tearoom' just outside Calangute on the way back to Candolim and said it was 'wonderful'. We went to look for it but no luck. Can't remember it's exact name but think it is something to do with a church or saint. Any ideas?

hrh5554 , you are talking about St Anthony's tea room, it is on the road from Candolim to Calanguet near the little white chapel. I have not been there but would like to know what it is like?

St Anthony's tearooms is really nice, it is a restaurant and does some nice meals both lunchtime and evening and gets quite busy, it is owned by Peter from Bristol who is in partnership with a guy from mumbai, Peter does mainly the continental dishes...his standards are high and the continental dishes are extreemly good.havent had the Indian food much but noted the portions aren't huge..but all fairly reasonably priced
