Cany anyone tell me any decent restaurants near the Riverside Guesthouse?
Our plan is we land at Goa at 6am, get taxi to our hotel, get changed and get a taxi to a chemist then on to baga beach for the day. Come back to the hotel for a swim in the swimming pool and go somewhere local for our evening meal as we will be very tired.
Especially me because i cannot for the life of me sleep on planes
Went to over the flames, it was excellent, had chateaubriand steak for only 300R. Everyone gets a free cocktail when sitting down, they was well potent. The owner came over she is called Dawn (from Wales), seems her and her partner own Octopus a new restautant in candiolim near stonehouse, and hotplates in baga, she said she thinks last season in baga for hotplates.
Yes we (two couples) all enjoyed our meal at the new Over the Flames Candolim (Octopus) directly opposite The Stonehouse never got any free cocktails though and I would give it a miss on a wednesday if they still have the Karaoke on.allan.
hi allan the cocktails were free at over the flames in calangute, and karoke is on i think either thurs or friday at calangute.
We went to infantaria, was told very good, it was not. the head waiter was from fawlty towers, we ordered drinks he said no have a bottle of wine, we said no, ended up full scale argument with him, then again he told us what to have as a starter and main meal. after hour wait starters came, then suddenly my prawn cocktail was whipped away from me while eating it for main meal to appear. we was that scared to ask where toilets where in case he told us what to do lol.
Hi Yummymummy, if you like Chinese then you don't have to go too far, the Hibiscus restaurant where you are staying is always very nice, the people there are really nice also. Just give Sublime next door a miss.
Also not far from J & As and Lilas cafe. Five minutes into Baga and an abundance of restaurants. Enjoy!!!
Lila Cafe is great, but not open in the evening. Le Pousin Rouge(sp) is across the road not too sure what that one's like, it has moved to this location this season
Thanks Miccie and Gemma, we will be sure to give those a try.
For evening meals my choice would be The Mermaid, Le Bistro, Casa Manolita, Kalinga and if you like music with your food The Stonehouse.
Tony's is fine if you don't mind roughing it a bit.
I personally dont rate Mermaid. What do you mean by "roughing" it at Tony's. Ive never been to Tony's but wanted to try it in March, and ive only heard good reports about it, was just wondering what you meant .....
we have found anew organic restaurant in ashwem beach called meems arabiansea in .
thank you it has a nice food.we recome
nd this place.
I'm sure you do recommend it- we prefer recommendations from those who dine there though, not those who run them. They are more truthful that way.
could someone tell me where the 1-95 resturant in calangute is
, I didn't get one last year, but had a fantastic Tia maria coffee, which cost more than the meal. I've heard Hotplates is good as well, so there's another to add to my list of places to go.
Yummy mummy the Chinese (hibiscus) where you are staying has really good food, try the Riverside Regency too, not a massive restaurant in there but the food is good. We also found the food at the place next to the Riverside Regency really good, can't remember the name (I think it has Mayo or something like that in the name), but it's where they have live music on a Sunday night, I'm sure somebody will be able to tell you the name.

I have to agree - Kalinga is fantastic! The food is gorgeous and reasonably priced. My hubby has been trying to recreate his favourite dish for several years to no avail!
Where abouts in Candolim is Kalinga? I've not heard of that one. Is it new? Tracy
Live music on Sundays? That sounds very good, im sure we will find it if its next door to the riverside regency.
Thanks again everyone for your help
Ron I 95 is just off main calangute road to candolim, where babutts bar and shop is on left go up that road it signposted
If you have the health centre in Candolim on the right hand side just keep going! It's on the same side but towards the Stone house. It's nearly opposite Master Jewellers (great shop by the way!). Hope this helps!
