Like you OAP, I dont rate Mermaid.
Stonhouse can be good depending on what you have and the music is generally good, but the service is appalling.
I think that my all round favourite is Flambe, never had a bad meal there.
Aye's.
Casa Sea Shell
Bistro
Flambe
Floyd's (Both of them)
Nay's
Mermaid
Bom Successo
Sea Shell (no tandoori)
J21 Sports Bar.
Ok it's not in Candolim, but really should give Allspice in Arpora a try.
The Ritz in Panjim beats the Dehli Durbar hands down.
Cheers
Never tried Flambe either, but read lots of good reports about it in here. Whereabouts in Candolim is it please?
Thanks for the directions to Kalinga, Vodkasundae. Iv'e noticed that the Mermaid seems to be getting some bad reports this season. Anyone know what's happened? Have the owners changed? Everyone used to rave about it. We went a few times last year & the year before and loved it. Especialy the dime cheescake mmmmm!
A reasonable walk from the Phoenix park, guessing about half a mile.
Thanks Del I know exactly where you mean. Will need to give it a try in March
They had to move as the owner of the land where they use to be wanted to put his own restaurant/bar there.
Anyway you will find Ice N Spice at the main junction opposite Casa Sea Shells just about 100 yards on the left just opposite the temple. Please go and see the guys there they are lovely.
Maria
Can't agree more. We used to go to the old place and this last time went to see them at the new place (for those who know Candolim they're now in the place that 2 years ago was the Moonlight garden). Spent a few nights there. I've always rated the food at ice n spice. Never had a bad meal there. Don't rate the pool table though....it still slopes to one side. Lovely ambience and lovely lads working there.
Might be wrong - but I went last year and is it not a bit pricey - or did I have my ruppee head on.
if it's early march we may see you there.
Never found it pricey. If anything I'd have said pretty cheap or at least on a par with most other places. They do the best Rogan Josh I ever had.
I agree the best rogan josh I have ever had. Hubby loved the crispy Chicken & Beef hugh portion for a starter. Also the toilets are 100 times better than at the last place.
But do they still have to go out and buy if you want a bottle of wine?
We passed ice & spice a few times in november and not onced in 3 weeks did we ever see anyone in it ..it looked nice to so i will go in and give it a try in march and let you all know what I think ...colleen
That would be great Del. We arrive 10 March. What dates are you there?
We passed it a few times also as we also stayed in the Prazeres Colleen, didn't you just hate that walk down that dark lane to the main road? never seen anyone in there either so on one of our last nights feeling a bit sorry for them as they had waved to us a few times we dropped in for a nightcap it was very comfortable, nice chairs with cushions on , really hate them plastic chairs, very helpful lads and yes Del they never had wine for the ladies so they made do with breezers we told them we would pop in in February I hope business picks up for them by then, Allan.
ps i did laugh but not in front of lin b
