I'm quite scared of the monkeys out there - I think they always look ready to attack!!

I've been lots of times and never seen any rats. Saw a frog once.....it cornered my daughter in the toilets! As I said earlier I've always liked the place though my friend Nicky who used to work there told me they're not doing so well since they moved premises. IIt's slightly off the beaten track and I think it looks emptier too because the new premises are so much bigger than before. Nice comfy chairs though.

Awww what a pity it will be your last night Del.
We dont arrive in Goa til about 5 or 6pm on 10th March and we said we would go somewhere nearby for our first meal, probably Kim Faa, because we are staying at the Marinha Dourada.
We will still try the restaurant tho, its sounds really nice.

if you are staying at the Marina D , then All Spice has to be your best bet.
shame we will miss you though!

Yes ive been in All Spice a few times Del and the food was brilliant, but over the years ive heard of several people at the MD having upset stomachs after eating there, and I know its silly but it puts you off a wee bit.
I have about 7 restaurants that I must go to each time we are in Goa, favourites I guess, and then there are so many recommendations from other HTers that I try to fit in some news places, but its difficult to get to every single place isnt it (gives me an excuse to book up and return :tongue )
But definitely in Candolim this time I want to try Flambe and Tony's Place. Heard great reviews on both these restaurants.

Never noticed the monkey Colleen we were on the scooter during the day and only used to walk down the lane when going for evening meals, drinks etc, there was a lot of monkey business going on in the hotel though! Allan

Found Flambe last year, and this is one place we will be going back to, (went twice last year),not an 'over impessive' looking place but excellent waiter service, great food too - can't think what they called the dish, but they were spicy meatballs a bit like Koftas, and the starter was cheese stuffed mushrooms.
Quite a few restaurants down that way, but all seem quiet - will have a browse around on the next visit. (wish I was there now...).

I haven't noticed any reports on A Reverie Calangute, has anyone been there recently?Allan,

(I think it has Mayo or something like that in the name), but it's where they have live music on a Sunday night, I'm sure somebody will be able to tell you the name.

I think you may mean "Mayonna's"

Be there about 8 pm for the music - don't bother with the food. :tup
By the way - the toilets are minging. :(

2 new places opened this season.
1. SHIVERS
just off the main road. directly opposite Kingfisher Villa. Have been there twice and really enjoyed it. Lovely surroundings, but hidden away

2. The Carvery
About a third of the way down Beach Road on the left hand side.
It is an upstairs terrace restaurant, quite large and airy :tup with a nice open kitchen, the food is excellent and so are the prices. It is owned by RAM, who also owns Cactus Shepherds Pie, which is also a great small place.

If you want to try something different in Candolim/Sinquerim area; try "Bomras." :cheers

It's Burmese food (very like Thai) and it's next to the new night club "Butter."

That's the one, thanks Max, We thought the food was ok but it was on one of the nights without music :think

Don't let the rat incident put any of you off, I'm sure there are rats around 99% of the restaurants and bars in Goa -incidentally it's probably no different in the U.K., certainly isn't in London.

Whilst I have not been this year, and so haven't tried the new venue, I know Sanjay and his family very well and they are very hot on hygene in the restaurant. Ice and Spice is where I eat most of my meals when in Candolim as Sanjay always employs a decent chef each year so the food is always excellent quality and value.

HowardMaria if you still need Sanjays number PM me.

Hi Fritz

I have Sanjays number now, but thanks for that.

As for rats i have never seen any rats in Ice & Spice (old and new premises), the only thing i saw this year was a lizard in the loos, last year we gave our old digital camera to sanjay and he was delighted and this year told us that the whole villiage use it for weddings.

Re The RAT... We have used the old ice & Spice many times over the years and always liked the atmosphere, and the odd game of pool even with wonky table, we went to the new premises and my step son sat on a nice cusioned chair and disturbed this incontinent Rat, who proceeded to urinate on cusion and S/sons shirt, then it proceeded to do a death defying jump from his shoulders to mine before realising who he was dealing with and ran off, don't think I will go back,
