Great photos and although she's been an eyesore for 12 years, there's a little bit of me that's sad to see her go!

well we walked down the beach yesterday and it seems its still ongoing...

the beach itself is pretty empty of shacks and so are many of the beach roads (empty and tarpaulined over0

follow link for some pics of the beach road (carvery/ Teamas all covered and empty and the beach

and a couple of pics of the river princess in the distance...

sunny side up shack is there as you come down on the left but turn right, where normally you would see Boat shack on your right etc towards calangute and nothing till you reach Petes shack which goes tomorrow then nothing till calangute steps!!

very tranquil ;)

Great pics chilly, hard to imagine the place when the season is over. Great pics of the RP, amazing how they have worked so hard in removing it, in that time scale.

Thanks for the great pics Chilly, glad were not there now . Enjoy your last 3 weeks better tell Mike to take it easy after pulling that mixer up the ramp and have a JD tonight
Looks like the RP is almost in two halves. :think

I wonder if they've thought through what is going to happen to the sands and flow of the beach when she has finally gone?? :que

Its nice to see whats left from the opposite persepective, it gives a clear indication of how little is left (above the water line)

went back down the beach yesterday for a further look and was told they are stopping work soon as the sea is getting too rough and they will start again in Sept or Oct!!!! so it may well still be here when you all return!! in a reduced form!!

they also told me they are underneath the water line at present (divers) cutting it from underneath...maybe they are hoping the monsoon will finish off the work for them :D

here are the latest pics (follow link) http://www.flickr.com/photos/62909495@N07/
the river princess pics are on page two
although there is a big tug alongside as you will see, i have got quite near and talken from different aresa and angles of the beach..

...also for anyone interested a view of all the closed shops and very empty roads around calangute and candolim!! we were the only ones on the candolim main road yesterday at one point...great!!! every where is very dead now!!its lovely :) peaceful!!

Just got back and the princess looks clear now as the larger crane and boat alongside have gone but unfortunately didnt have my camera on me :( ...sorry!
had rain today and very overcast

Thanks again for the pics, not a great deal of it left, if they get going as soon as the monsoons have eased then an empty space awaits us all. Love the newspaper cutting - maybe we should adopt that attitude of 'really beating them up' to return them to work at my place - priceless !!

Fantastic photos Chilly, makes me wish I was there to see just how different it is once the season ends.

great pictures Chilly, loved the quiet streets and beaches, reminded me of the Goa we first visited twenty odd yars ago . We're due back towards the end of Nov. so I think the old girl will be gone by then, but you never know with Goa.

well Gramps it may not be gone by then if as they say they are going to stop in the next few days due to rough seas and start again next sept/oct/nov??? who knows dont forget this is Goa :D ...however as i said they are cutting out underneath at the mo so maybe they are hoping the monsoon will finish it off for them ;) I certainly think its pretty obvious that this is it though!! No doubt at all the river princess is at the end of the road!!!

The reason for wondering if it would be gone by next season was, I seem to recall that their was a time limit on completing the job, which i think was to be completed by the start of the monsoon. It would'nt be the first time some "interested party" has dragged it back to the courts for whatever reason, as you say chilly "this is Goa"

Great photos, Chilly. Thanks for posting them.

It's difficult to see the RP surviving a monsoon as it lies - perhaps it will be scattered along the beach come November!

The pictures of an empty Public Bar and Beach Road are amazing - what a difference a couple of months makes.
