Looks like the view from Ganesh shack - one place I will never give up on, lets hope they are going to go ahead and move it for the sake of the beach errosion further down.

Had a Kingfisher in Ganesh shack yesterday. Not the best of views admittedly but he's a nice guy and deserves support.

This is an updated photo of Sinquerim Beach which I took last week on 11th February 2011.

This is with the tide out - when the tide is in it's impossible to walk along in front of the Taj and Bon Appetite.

My Goa trip 2011.

Cheers for the pic Max - hell of a lot worse than last year.

And there was me thinking that all that was left of the ship after it had been plundered for the last ten years or so, was rusty steel !! By the nonsense they are making about customs etc. they must think theres a treasure trove of precious metals waiting to be found, I think they are in for a disappointment if they ever get down to business.

March 5th - Church Service and Puja on the beach in front of the River Princess, before they start work cutting it up :think Will it really happen :rofl :rofl

Funnier than a 'carry on' film is this ! Let's hope they know where the tanker is to cut up..

According to Locals -- supposed to be starting work Today , went down this morning -- No Signs.

Well -- Surprise , Surprise . I was strolling down by the RP this morning , and I couldnt believe what I was seeing , Large craneage barges , tugs - loaded with equipment surrounding the RP , I was reliably informed that work will start in earnest Mon/ Tues , by one of the ( officials ) on the shore , their were also various ( officials) milling about up behind the shacks , and also at the life-guard post . Their were a couple of Police , but all looked very quiet , although this was at 7.45am .

Thanks for the update, Mahal.

It sounds like things might be moving, although it IS Goa and you never know.

If they are starting work, I hope that it doesn't cause too much disruption for those people out there now and those still to go.

Thanks for the info Mahal - will be interesting, fingers crossed there are no disruptions for us..

hi Phil, Jackie,Dee and Gail can get us some nice overhead pics from the microlight :rofl

billybluenose , microlighting may well be a safer pastime than spending time on the beach within a mile of the RP . I was being told tonight that today the cranes were unloading gas cylinders ( for burning & cutting ) purposes , from the Barges for storage on the RP -- and not just a few .
One wag reckoned that it wouldnt surprise him if the RP was accidentally !! blown up .
Seriously though , gas cylinders being stored in that environment , is an accident waiting to happen.

several gas cylinders being stored anywhere in India is worrying ! we arrive next saturday so will wait and see what the situation is like down by Ganesh shack. Hopefully we will not be forced to move on but got a bad feeling about this. :(

Got back Saturday and there was work going on more or less everyday on the RP for the 2weeks we were there.

Couldn't see much as it was mostly up at the bow end but when the wind was right you could here the boat being cut up inside. Every two or three days a tug or two was moored along side.

surely someone else must have seen this?

yes looks like the old lady may at last be going to leave us,work going on daily now, cant understand tourists wanting to be in the shacks there ganesh etc, nice ok but there is the whole of goa to choose without spending time looking at a work site, have also heard that government are thinking of importing sand and rock after boat is gone to help with recovery of beach, same for cocoa beach
