We saw the last of the bow removed and then the cutting of the side panels (facing Aguada) then they move on the inner supports and back to the side panels. While the crane lifted off the panels and supports, cutting then moved to the cabin area near the funnel.
Good progress being made and they say they will stop at the end of May but if weather permits then also work the 1st 3 weeks of June.
The way they are working they should be down to 2 meters above the water as planned, and then in September start to remove the belly of the beast - so things are looking good.
I will agree with papa that erosion problems will persist due to climate change, but maybe once it's gone the beach could level out more.
Taking a walk down Sinquerim the beach looked wider than last season and easier to walk on, but you can still see where the high seas and strong winds have 'eaten' away around the Taj resort.

A few more recent ones.
Cant say i'm sorry to see it go, the novelty wore off long ago.
Let's hope the beach can recover in the near future.

Thanks again Eddie for the link, great pics, and cant belive how they have got on with the
Thanks for the photo's Eddie!! I get quite upset seeing it being took apart. It was stranded the 1st. year we went to Goa and it has always "been there". Still, i know it's for the best!! I'm the same when i change cars, and have to say goodbye to the old one!!
Thanks for posting the pics Eddie, and tell Ian he is doing a good job with the camera. Was reading the local news and they say at least 10% of it has been removed - looks a hell of a lot more than that.
We are not taking in to account just how much of her is below the waterline and indeed underneath the sand.
Papa
It's hard to believe that when we go next year, the old RP won't be sat rusting away at the end of the beach.....or am I being over optimistic?
Went for a look a couple of hours ago. It doesn't look much different today than when Eddie took his photos.
Think they still have problems offloading the scrap, so could be running out of barges to put it on ?

Thanks for posting Ians upto date pics-link Eddie, really getting interesting now
They seem to be the only pictures out there on the internet recording the cutting up of the River Princess
It will seem strange her not being there next year
But for the people of Candolim who rely on that stretch of beach down to the fort for their livelihoods
its a necessity

Alan
I read one news report that claimed they were planning to continue until the 3rd week in June....... weather permitting!
