I had the same shock when i booked this last year looked up hotel and thought **** anyway still going in August with a open mind, had gone to holiday village turkey twice 07 and 06 and found i could not fault it, so i think people as people will have a moan just to moan.
There are a number of bad reviews for this hotel last year and a few good ones as well, i think hotel will be better this year as it is soley first choice uk, where as last year all nationalaties were there so hotel having to cater for everyone, here are a few sites slide shows to look at to ease your mind.

Hi DAZZNUTTS
I think that particular link you provided is excellent, a good choice of pictures showing the whole resort, very well taken, superb photography !
Of course I might be biased as I am the person that took them
i think hotel will be better this year as it is soley first choice uk
Where did you find out that this was the case ?
Graham
PS we stayed in the villas at the village, however I posted a review that takes in the whole resort so you might want to read it.

Sonic 08 I'm in agreement with Dazznutts, it will be a great holiday. I read a very good review on another forum from some people who are just back from the Royal Park, they say the food was spot on and that the chef is from London
Anyways in all honesty how bad can it be? No work, cooking, cleaning etc for 2 weeks plenty of sunshine, beautiful beaches, waterpark and pools and a country steeped in historical beauty. I for one cant wait and will post an honest review when I return on July 7th.
Will look forward to a good review off you ladymarmalade when you get back, don't forget to let us know what the weather was like as we will be going 4 days after you get back.
Will do Sonic 08
We have been to fuerentura three times to cela-de-fuste caletta amari and a lot of people made bad reviews same as Holiday village Turkey, i think these people making the bad reviews are the type we saw especialy in turkey when at meal time loading there plate like a mountain then wasting it instead of trying a little moaning why there isn't any english food proper sausages bacon etc letting there kids run riot too interested in the bar and being rude, you go on holiday to have fun not to eat the norm what you do at home, with my holidays as long as my kids have a good time first early thing else follows this is the sixth year i have holiday'ed with first choice and haven't been able to fault them and will travel/book with them again.
Sonic08 - you will have a good time just go with an open mind, as ladymarmalade said no cooking cleaning having our kids looked after taken away to kids clubs for 2 hour sessions or the 3 hour parties they do, what more could you ask for
I agree with what has been said here, we like to go and try local and varied food.
The point about the waste of food is spot on, people loading plates high with ffod then just leaving most of it, it they had to pay for the food taken I bet they would think twice about wasting so taking & much.
Anyway I am sure you will have a great time in Elenite, try and ask for a sea view, worth asking the travel agent to put a request on to your booking and also emailing the hotel.
When (if) any tour operator re introduces decent flight times from Glasgow to Bourgas we will def go back as I loved it.
This will be our first time going to Bulgaria, we go on July 21st. Can anyone give me any ideas of excursions that are worth doing.
Thanks
We are off to Royal Park in Elenite on 4th July for 11 nights all inclusive with First Choice - can't wait to get some sun!! Have lead loads of reports (all after we had booked) and was a bit worried but have seen a raving report for every bad one so we are just going to go, chill out, have some fun in the sun and see how it goes. With the 2 kids (8 & 13) the holiday clubs First Choice offered were the best for us because they cater for our older one as well and if the food it cold, I read there are microwaves so we will use those!
Hubby has been looking about and has found a few things he wanted me to ask:
(1) How much money to take (just to be on the safe side)? We reckon £500 and aim to bring some home.
(2) Travellers Cheques or pure cash (credit card charges are quite high so want to avoid if possible)?
(3) Safe in the room or is there one at reception - anyone know roughly how much?
(4) Currency Notes - are they really fussy about dirty / used notes or something? He saw somewhere that if the notes are torn etc that they won't be accepted?
(5) Any other tips to get the most out of Elenite?
Have asked for a low down room as my daughter uses crutches periodically (is using them just now) for a knee condition that she has but planning lazy holiday this year - not like the mad 3 weeks in Florida last year!!
Thanks all
M

Thanks - just found that thread and reading through it - typical!!
i think hotel will be better this year as it is soley first choice uk
Just to clarify this statement made above, the Royal Park is being sold in the UK via First Choice only, however it is also being sold in other countries as well, so there will be other nationalities staying at this hotel, not just people from the UK.
Were did you hear this from as first choice told me that hotel was unique to the british market from this season and being sold by them only.
We were told by First Choice that, from this year, the hotel was a First Choice exclusive hotel and no-other tour operators could book it.
Hi would reccomend everyone takes a peek at a new review of this hotel on the hotel review forum of this site.......... be warned it aint pretty
One thing though, how many towels should you have each day so how do you know if you are "short" that confused me?
I saw the link posted on another forum too and one poster suggested recording your arrival on camcorder and counting towels in your room then do same as you are leaving. Seems a bit extreme, but do you believe they held the entire holiday complex to ransom by locking the gates for £80 and bringing in the Russian heavies?
I think all in all it was a well written balanced review full of good tips and warnings that I for one will bear in mind, however, posters over at T.A dont believe a word of it, I'm inclined to believe he is a good person tipping everyone off.
I am going with an open mind and think me and my family will have a good time right on the beach two weeks of no cooking/washing/ironing/housework and even getting rid of the kids for a while with the kids reps bliss.
Most hotels leave one bath and one hand towel per guest. I would check that the cleaners always replace them. A head count of towels each day then
Yes, I think it was a good review but scary about the Russian Mobsters holding people to ransom - and I just can't believe that any tour company would just stand by and let that happen!
Personally, we don't have a camcorder and I wouldn't expect to have to take pics of everything in the room so "prove" we hadn't pinched it - and I can't imagine how luxurious those towels must be at that price!!
Also, putting the entertainment into perspective, on a Bulgaria Tourist Information site I was on the other day it said their Summer Season had only just started at the very end of May so if this person had been there before that then maybe full entertainment and facilities wouldn't have been available? Im not criticising the post, Im merely thinking out loud that it may have something to do with it.
Being from Scotland our holidays are earlier than English holidays and when we go away at the end of June, even in the UK to the likes of Pontins and Haven, full entertainment programmes etc are usually not running until the very end of the 2 weeks so May would be out of the question!
Am a bit concerned about our holiday - plan to go and just chill as we really need it as had a strained 8months or so with one thing and another but it does worry me but leaving in 3 weeks there's not much we can do now I suppose anyway!
